"Oh no!" the Emperor thought to himself, "this just throws a wrench into the whole works,". The whole strategy of their diplomatic efforts was to rightly say they were not being the aggressors. This strategy was blown, now Xosaia had fired on and destroyed an Emerald scout plane. They now had a real grievance and the gathering of other allies would be exponentially more difficult, "Prime Minister Nanuvek, you are telling me that you fired on and destroyed an Emerald scout plane? Did they Emerald plane fire upon your sub? What were your rules of engagement? If Emerald finds out that PASA fired upon their plane unprovoked, they will have a legal right to launch a retaliatory strike. That will put us in a bind due our treaty obligations. If they find out you need to compensate them. We cannot afford to alienate every moderate and fence sitting nation in Alterra, not now." |

The Prime Minister smiled almagest cynically. As the submarine in question does not officially exist, Emerald could not discover this event unless they tap our communications, in which case their case would be null and void. Furthermore, Xosaia committed this action unilaterally for our own purposes, and will make it very clear to the international community that PASA had no knowledge of the event prior to its occurrence. She watched the Rathtinian for a few moments. All nations have their secrets. I suspect that they have secrets they keep from even their top allies. Xosaia is no exception. As for your concern... All I said was that a submarine that is in some way affiliated with Xosaia, and let me say NOT part of our navy, took down 'that' Emerald scout plane. For all I know, that submarine could be rogue, or it might not even exist. We might not have any submarines in the region. We have them in 'the Hrystran area', but we also have embassies in several countries in this area for which unarmed submarines serve as transports.... let's put it this way: There is no retrievable evidence anywhere that the Xosaian Military in any way acted aggressively towards any nation, and there is certainly none that PASA did. Now, it has come to my attention that Githa is absolutely incensed over the detaining of Asiyans in Justosia. Their Premier is prepared to go to war over it. I advise and ask Justosia to release these foreigners. If Aniihya does not release the Justosians, then not only will we have a clearly internationally acceptable reason to go to war, should we need to, but... well, I can assure you that the Justosians will be returned safely. I believe our news agency posted something about Project Black Rock a while back? I don't know how much information they made public, but if worst comes to worst, we can and gladly will get your lost sheep back to their flock--- without a single blemish on their soft white wool. After eying the Rathtinian for a few more moments, she leaned back in her chair and faced both of them. I can avert war with Githa and Prismos if you can avert war with Anu Asiya. Remember, gentlemen, until war is declared we can still succeed in our mission. Once it is, death is certain. I'd hate to imagine any more soldiers dieing. Or pilots. The faintest hint of a smile was present on her face as she finished speaking. Then suddenly, her face changed drastically, became paler. Gentlemen... Justosia... I feel I must inform you that you must avoid war with Githa... at almost any cost. If the Anu Asiyan hostage conflict is not resolved, Githa will be very difficult to keep out of military involvement. Justosia... can not afford that. Edited by Xosaia, Apr 4 2011, 11:29 PM.

King Francisco had been sitting there, listening to their back and forth, downing some white wine. He now knew it was time for him to respond. "Your Excellency, pleasure. Do forgive the white wine, but I fear that if I don't relax a little, I'm going to have a heart attack soon. Now, concerning your 'sub'.......BRAVO! As long as this remains secret, then fine. I, we told no one. That Emeraldian plane had no business flying over here anyway. But that was a unilateral XOSAIAN act....let us not forget that. As for Anu-Asiya and Githa, I am not worried about either. Anu-Asiya is backwards and inferior, also land locked. We are dealing with the domestic threat they pose, and are releasing their innocents. I will NEVER allow myself or Justosia to be intimidated by those aggressive, posturing, commie pigs. We are in the RIGHT here. I will not let Justosia be bullied or intimidated by them. If any war comes between us, it will be GITHA that fires the first shot, and that is just FINE with me. WE'LL end any such situation." |

It's funny you should say that, Prime Minister, I'm told that Githa has assured our ambassador general that you will fire first. We shall see. Now I could be wrong, but it seems to me that Githa is not trying to intimidate you, I think they actually do want peace. You can never tell with their kind, though. Nanuvek reaches for a red phone. I beg your pardon, gentlemen, I need to take this. As she holds the phone up to her ear, her face contorts with a mix of shock, horror, and anger. HE WHAT!?! Tell His Imperial Lordship I will be there within the next 12 hours. She slams the phone down, fixes her suit top, and addresses her countreparts. Gentlemen, I'm afraid I must fly to Slostia. Our diplomat there had a bit a mental break down, it seems. If you one of you could forward me a report after you finish your talks, I'd very much appreciate it. I do sincerely apologize for this. Good luck. After pausing for a moment to make sure they had nothing to say, she leaned forward and flicked a switch; the screen went black once more. |

The Emperor did not like how things had turned, but he was prepared to deal with unfortunate events. Before the prime Minister departed, the Emperor said, "Madame Prime Minister, we do indeed have our own secrets. If you accept the fact that Xosaia acted unilaterally in this instance, please know that IF Emerald were to launch a strike on you using this incident as justification, then Rathtinia would NOT consider this an attack on PASA and thus would not intervene. I do agree with you though that releasing the Anu-Asiyans would be a sign of good faith on Justosia's part. I understand they are investigating the riots and that they have been remarkably restrained in their actions, but politics is perception and releasing the Anu-Asiyans would be a sign of generosity, not weakness. To Xosaia's point about Githa, it is both Justosia and Rathtinia's wish to avoid war, but I will not be party to appeasement and if pushed we will stand firm. I do not underestimate Githa nor do I look forward to clashing with a foreign power half-way around the world, but I will if I have to." |

King Francisco's red phone then rung. "..........HE WHAT!? HE WHAT!!!!!" King Francisco then threw the phone against the wall and screamed. He then quickly realized he was still in the company of the Emperor and quickly, tried to compose himself. ".........Your Imperial Majesty......I'm afraid we must cut our meeting short......my wife was just publicly insulted, lied on, disrespected by the insane Xosaian Ambassador. Some demon has just tried to taint my wife's honor, lady dignity, HUMILIATE HER IN PUBLIC........I'm going to Slozhos......Justosia will now be represented BY ME.....that's what they really want anyway. My aides have your motorcade out front, unless you'd like to follow me of course. But now, I simply must be at my wife's side, I'm sorry." The King then left to his motorcade, to Avalon International Airport, then on his way to Slozhos....... |

The Emperor was not shocked by the King's sudden exit. He was pessimistic that the talks would amount to much, but he hoped to be proven wrong. The King leaving meant that things were on edge and that his presence would be a last resort, "We must be the voice of reason. I am confident Milena will represent us well," the Emperor thought to himself. Gathering his aides, he walked out and entered his awaiting motorcade. |
