Anum Bomani, without rising from his seat, asks simply "Why does Prismos want nuclear weapons while refusing to sign the treaty? Isn't that position in and of itself provocative?" He folds his hands in his lap and goes on as if lecturing children "A nuclear device is no assurance of safety. It does nothing to defend a nation or a people... its only function in fact is to poison the world with dangerous radiation and to destroy. It does not deter... a conventional weapon can equal any desired nuclear device in destructive power so..." he pauses as his gaze shifts from one diplomat to the next... "why bother with the expense and dangers of a nuclear device in the modern age?" |

Sdonis stands up and starts looking at Serafine "Why doesn't your nation just move the nuclear test?" "If you want to use my nuclear testing facilities, then you can." "And Anum, to me it does seem pretty provacative to not sign it, but most of us want nuclear protection." "I've heard someone before say that too many countries in Alterra have nuclear bombs. Well the main reason is for defence, the second reason is maintain peace. "Without these nuclear arms we could not guarantee our citizens safety and security." Sdonis sits down with a concerned look on his face and leaves the floor open |

Anum seems nonplussed by Sdonis' statements although he does nod to acknowledge them. "The term 'nuclear protection' hasn't been shown to be valid... in fact, in the course of seeking such alleged protection, Prismos has tipped a chain of events that has lead us to this room. Nuclear weapons do not, in fact, maintain peace... but they can certainly threaten it as we see here before us." He raises a hand to ask forebearance a moment then continues "It would be foolish to claim that such was never the case, that was then and we are now. There are many ways to provide safety for one's people without the use of any form of WMD... Emberlines have done so for years even though it is fully within our ability to build the things" A distinct expression of distaste colors his features as he says those last words... "I am interested more in Prismos reasons... why nuclear weapons and why -not- sign the treaty and avoid all this fuss?" |

Sdonis stays seated and starts talking "I would have to ask the same question." "I think we are all wondering why Prismos doesn't just sign it." "But I disagree with you,Anum, I believe WMD's are the most effective form of defence around such hostile nations." |

With a deep inhalation followed by a long near-sigh of resignation Anum wavers a hand in a 'maybe' motion "It might be interesting to discuss such at a later date... but we should not derail the proceeding to discuss opinions... no?" He sits back in his chair once more having already said far more than his 'observer' title would lead one to expect. "Our host has chosen this as the first topic of, I am certain, many... we should address ourselves to finding solutions. We must also beware of overstepping the bounds of this minor gathering and taking actions that would affect the Assembly. I would hate to see anything accomplished here get shot down because we overstepped those boundaries." |

Milena Skouros stood up and addressed the group, "My fellow delegates, I believe the key problem was Prismos conducting nuclear tests so close to other nations, especially Justosia. If Prismose wants to conduct nuclear tests in its own territory underground, then it should do so. If Prismos wants to run simulations on advanced supercomputers, then they should do so, but no nation has the right to risk the safety of its neighbors' citizens in an effort to test weapons of mass destruction. There must be and there is a better way for Prismos to achieve its goals, if the testing is its stated goals, then the tests it currently plans to conduct." |

Queen Maria then rose. "I rise to address the irresponsible at best, and deliberately provocative at worst, lies by Githa's leader. Firstly, my nation took the diplomatic route of proposing a motion of resolution in the AA calling for international and AA sanctions for Prismos' repeated hostility towards the international community. PRISMOS REPEATED balking at the international community and the AA's proposed nuke treaty are proof that they wish to use these nukes FOR WAR. If they didn't, quite simply, they would have no problem signing the nuke treaty. I would also add that our sound, and righteous coalition of nations, namely the Pan Alterran Security Alliance, and other separately allied nations is obviously stronger than any excuse for a coalition the rogue entity of Prismos could manage to muster. FURTHERMORE. Githa choose to intervene in Prismos' affairs originally, solely, as a means of provoking our peaceful, law abiding nation. Their radical communist leadership is on record as despising our form of government, and the related. They have shown imperialist ambitions by threatening to shoot down any foreign aircraft or ships ONE HUNDRED MILES OFF THEIR TERRITORIAL WATERS. This is obviously insane, and illegal. Githa also, doesn't really seem to care, they sadly, seem really, only interested in further, repeated provocations of my nation. I will also point out that Emerald, a nation on the other side of the world, which has no REAL stake or business in this issue, has deliberately jumped in only to further increase tensions and provoke my nation really. This is evidenced by their building a MILITARY BASE in close proximity to Justosia and our waters. The whole idea of Emerald trying build to ANYTHING here is provocative at best, BUT A MILITARY BASE? If Emerald truly doesn't mean to threaten and bully my nation, THERE WOULD BE NOT ONE GUN ON THAT INSTALLATION. Thank you." Queen Maria then sat. |

Sdonis quickly stood up "Almost everybody in Alterra would have gotten involved because I knew it would eventually turn into WWII. Also the island base I set up is only about 30% military 40% residential and 30% trash decompositers. Furthermore I can't even believe you would bring that up at a peace conference." Sdonis starts pacing the floor "What I know is that you threatened us and our citizens by pointing your guns at us. What we still dont know is who shot down the Z-7 Scout plane. Today we are constructing a memorial and holding his funeral on Euratrona Harbor." |

Queen Maria responded. "Let it go on record that Emerald admits it has its hostile military assets on this island base of theirs, in close proximity to us. As an obvious national security threat, and contributor to these tensions that have brought us here, it makes perfect sense I would address this sad issue." She sat. |

"Can Emerald please tell us what, if any, national security interest it has in a dot colony half a world away? Why would it station, in all places, military assets there? Let me remind this body, there was no Emerald presence until AFTER this crisis started. How does this serve the cause of peace? Unless, the government of Emerald has no desire for peace, then there may be a perfectly good reason to station its military so close Justosian shores. Or maybe, just maybe, they are acting on behalf of another power, one much closer to events here," Milena Skouros then looked directly at the Githan representative. |
