The people in the APC's were laughing at the radio calls A series of high powered explosions went off behind the entreanched soldiers. Immense clouds of smoke started to blow and drift over the field. Around the helos, what looked like streams of hornets screamed by. Anyone looking would have seen only flashes in what looked like an empty sky. Seen from above, the matte black was a perfect background for the red and gold royal crests of Jostosia. The APC's had stopped, seemingly hidden from view by ultra dense growths of vegitation. Then the growths started to move. They rose straight up and then banked west, all available power streaking them straight toward Zone 1. The blacked out gunships ceased their high altitude assault and went to full power in the same direction, all four aircraft reaching nearly 500 mph and rising to an altitude of close to 40,000 ft. Within a few minutes, they were gone. |

Regalia Beachhead O+10 When Major Leclerc reached the bivouac, he responded to the Master Sergeant, "You and your men can get changed here. I'm sure the General would appreciate any anti-radiation gear you can scrounge up, even though the men are pretty well protected from that stuff. As to the drop, if you can find a space big enough, I'm sure you can drop your men in even though shipping them in would probably be easier. If you want to see the line, I can take you up to Dog 1 sector. They just had a pretty nasty fight up there and getting reinforced could buck up their spirits. Leclerc got some vehicles while the New Emberline troops changed." (OOC: General Hobbes left to go back to his FOB. Your men are with Major Leclerc, I am sure nothing in your dialogue needs changing.) |

OOC: Not really, one officer is much like another... its only a question of how much they can muck up your day. The Msg didn't even blink hard, just dropped his ruck and changed quickly, the men did roughly the same as the NCO and Major conversed. "Rad gear, aside from the minor stuff we carry, will have to be brought in from the fleet... or from New Emberline. If we were sweating it a regiment wouldn't be on the way." The middle-aged bull of a man laughed. While changing his build is clear... corded muscle over years of highly PTed physique. Even in middle age, the master Sgt was not one to be underestimated. Lifting his E3 once more he nodded at the Major "Ok, let's troop your line & show 'em that you guys aren't fighting alone anymore." the other Pathfinders shouldered equally heavy weapons, another light machinegun (not so handily carried), an assault rifle with a grenade launcher and the last man carried a shotgun ready with a rocket launcher on his back. A single marine was posted to watch the gear but the other three collected their own weapons and lifted a couple of crates "Mortar" the MSgt explained "Figured it'd be a whole lot more boosting for morale than a handful of guys with rifles. Once we select a spot for it, we can run back for extra ammo... assuming you use 60mm stuff we can borrow some if needed. We brought only flares and Willie Pete" |

Colonel Haigonos listened carefully to the reply from Lt. Tennyson, then called to the navigator: 'Franici, we have clearance to land at position Alpha-Lima 420, do you have that marked on the map?' There was a short pause, then. 'Yes Sir. Plotting course now Sir. ETA... approximately 20 minutes.' 'Good.' 20 minutes later Haigonos stepped down from the helicopter. A figure wearing the uniform of the Rathinian Marines hurried towards him from a jeep parked at the edge of the landing area. This must be Lt. Tennyson. 'Lt. Tennyson, good to meet you.' the Colonel began, 'I have 2 Battalions of 500 men standing by along with humanitarian and scientific teams. We're here to assist in any way you deem most beneficial, be it perimiter defence, evacuation or', and here a slight gesture was made towards the plume of smoke that could be seen rising from the Nuclear Plant, 'extraction operations if necessary. We just need to know where to put the boots on the ground.' |

Zone 2, Justosia O+10 The explosions startled Captain Marcus. Suddenly, his entire field of vision was clouded by smoke. He ordered all of his men to switch to thermal imaging, but before he could coordinate a response the intruders were gone. "Damn!" Marcus cursed to himself. Galloway was on the line, "Sir do we mount up and go after them?" Marcus really wanted to, but there was no way they could catch up to the convoy now. Besides, the Rathtinians were not one trick ponies. Marcus smiled slightly as he heard the rumble. Looking up he could barely make out four small gray figures racing across the sky. "Good luck you navy pukes." He then radioed Galloway, "No Galloway. It's out of our hands now." The four fighters from the 2nd Group, 7th Carrier Air Wing, had orders to support the marines in Justosia. They caught the action on their sensor feed from the EA-36 electronics aircraft 50 miles to the northeast and hoped that no friendlies were dead. Lt. Commander Jackson, the lead pilot radioed down to the Marines as his fighters flew over head, "Sky Rider to Marines. Sky Rider to Marines, everything okay down there?" "They humbugged us. They slipped right out of our grasp." the Marine radioed back. "Casualties?" Jackson asked. "Only our pride. They're yours now. Happy hunting." "Roger that." Jackson changed frequencies to the rest of his flight, "You heard the marine, they're ours. You have them on your scopes?" All three of the other fighters clicked an affirmative. "Good, they're going 500 mph at 40,000 ft. Go to 80% powers and we'll catch them in no time. Standard ROE." With that, Jackson powered his engines up to 80% and zoomed after the fleeing intruders. The P/A-35 was capable of going faster than Mach 1.6. Jackson didn't need all of that to make up the distance between his fighters and the intruders. Within a few minutes he had the intruders in VR. Jackson decided to radio into his carrier for instructions, "Sky Rider to Rider Base. We have visual identification of the intruders. How would you like us to proceed?" "Sky Rider this is Rider Base. Identify, but do not fire unless fired upon." "Roger Rider Base." Jackson couldn't attack, but in identifying the fleeing craft, he could have some fun. "Sky Rider Flight, this is Sky Rider One. Execute Ivan-S." The three other fighters of Sky Rider Flight took up positions as Jackson's fighter flew forward. He was close now. He got a good look at the intruders as he approached. The camera on his HUD transmitted the data to his flight computer and it brought up the identities of the intruding craft. At the same time, the data was forwarded to his carrier and to an orbiting satellite which transmitted the data to High Command back in Rathtinia. "Dragonwings," Jackson whispered to himself. He then clicked his indicator to relay to the rest of his flight that Ivan was a go. Two of the fighters turned on their powerful AN/APG-81 radars. The radars signals, received by the ESM threat-receivers on the Dragonwings' tail fins, set off a musical tone which had to be turned off manually, and lit up a red warning light on each control panel. Jackson's flight had tone and the two other fighters race forward slightly ahead and above the Dragonwings. Jackson's was one of them. Once he was ahead of the Dragonwings, he flipped a switch on his weapons console. Each fighter shot out a half-dozen magnesium flares in front of the trailing Dragonwings. Jackson hailed the Dragonwings, "This is Sky Rider One to Dragonwing flight. We just thought we'd light the way home for you in case you were lost. Have a nice flight home. We'll see you later." Jackson smiled and thought to himself, "If this was for real you'd all be dead." Jackson then banked left while his the other lead fighter banked right. Both of the rear fighters turned off their radars and disengaged. The four fighters formed up and headed up. At 50,000 feet they leveled off and raced home. |

Regalia Beachhead O+10 Leclerc didn't have to wait long for the NEDF men to get changed. He already had the vehicles to take them to Dog One Sector and when the Pathfinders emerged he signaled that they should get in. The drive to Dog One did not take long. The beachhead was not an enormous plot of land and the Rathtinian vehicles had some pickup to them. Leclerc could see the recent battle damage. There were several holes in the Dog One wall. Whether they were due to the battle or the explosion, he couldn't tell. The marines at this sector looked weary. Leclerc couldn't blame them. He pulled up about 150 yards from the wall. Getting out Leclerc asked around for the sector commander. He was informed that Lt. Tennyson was greeting the sector's other guests at Alpha-Lima 420. Lt. Tennyson responded to the newly arrived Colonel, "Likewise Colonel. We can definitely use all the help we can get. If your men would like to get set up I can get one of my men to assist you. We need any and all medical people you can give us. I was about to send a group of refugees back to the port, but technically they should still be under quarantine. Most of them are kids sir and I don't feel comfortable leaving a bunch of kids on the front lines. If you can get your people to check them out I would be much obliged. Your men can man the wall for now. The General is waiting for IV corps to arrive before we counter-attack, but with your men we might be able to go ahead early. For now, the med people are the ones we most need." Tennyson turned and glanced back and saw a major being pointed in his direction. "Great, what's next?" he thought to himself. |

MSG Tornescu wasn't one to waste alot of time either, with a quick evaluation of the area he pointed the marines with the mortar to an area roughly 100 meters back from the MLR. Just far enough that the muzzle flash from the mortar wouldn't frazzle the Rathtinian marines and perfect for dropping rounds directly onto the barricades should a breakthrough occur. "Dig it in, set it up... that's your ground. Hold." Then he scanned out where the Major was being pointed, ok... another handoff... you don't waste majors on Master Sergeants so he'd get a Captain at best. Probably some shavetail though. Have to see how that went. The other three pathfinders, 2 Staff Sergeants and the smallish corporal, made their way toward the actual barricades to look at the ste-up and see where they could do the most good. LMG there, a light spot in the line. Rocket launcher & Grenadier both scoping out spots for themselves in case things fell into the pot again. NCOs being what they are, it doesn't take long for sergeants to make arrangements... especially marines to marines. Tornescu waited for the Major and then follows him to, or waits beside him for, Lt Tennyson. "I see" he comments idley "we aren't exactly your only partners at the dance. Elysian paras?" |

Major Leclerc answered the Pathfinder, "From what it looks like, they just arrived too. This whole area is a possible staging area for pacification of the entire zone. We will have elements from four to five different armies here. Coordinating them all will be monumental to say the least. The sooner you and your men get squared away, the better it will be for everybody." |

"We have half a day before" Tornescu grins "My People arrive. Until then its just us marines. Happened that 4 of us came from the regiment dropping so we can set an LZ for 'em. That's why we got elected." He glanced around and shrugged "Right here is as good a place as nay, fairly central along the line... at least so far as I can see. We're up front to provide supporting fires but back enough to stay out of your way and preserve our mission status" In other words, to make as sure as possible the pathfinders remained alive to do their jobs "Golden. Who you passin' me off to now anyway?" The question is good natured and genuine "I figure a field grade has better things to do than stand around wiping EM noses" |

"This is Lt. Tennyson's sector and you'll be working with him or whomever he designates. I'll introduce you when he finishes with the Elysian Colonel. By the way, when you are firing your weapons, try not to hit the wall nor my men. It wouldn't go over to well." |
