I think he meant 'Em' as a shortened version of 'Emma'. Anyway, my name is pretty easy to pronounce, the only mispronunciation I could see would be to read it as 'Slow-stee-ah' instad of 'Slaw-stee-ah'. |

Artfulia is pronounced as you'd see, naturally, but the ancient name Arddfwylle is ardth-foo-ill-huh. At least that's as close to a Welsh pronounciation as I can figure. |

Actually, as a British person there's the option of mispronouncing it with the 'o' sound in words like 'not' or 'loss', which is what I thought the pronunciation was at first glance. I presume from what you say that the vowel is actually as in 'caught' or 'thaw'. @Artfulia: An <f> is pronounced [v] in Welsh. you want <ff> for the [f] sound. Finally, as for my country, it has occurred to me that I should probably be pronouncing it 'Tsay-lunz*-gart' as opposed to 'Zay-lunz-gart' given it's probably spelt according to German conventions. You can probably use a [z] sound when referring to it in Navis/English though. *the <u> here is trying to be the vowel sound in 'sun' if anyone isn't sure. With a <e> it looks too much like 'lens', which wouldn't suggest the right pronunciation. |

Ah thanks. When I started on Alterra I was reading a fantasy series whose language was based on Welsh and Gaelic, so it's hard to figure out exactly what's what. I always thought the X in Xosaia was a soft sh- sound. I blame myself for reading Shadows of the Empire when I was young. |
