Heh, I might not remember all the parts of speech anymore, but I do remember how to wield them! Particularly since I keep pretending to learn other languages and they hammer proper grammar into your head. It's funny how this thread got terribly derailed within the first two pages. To me, this is just as ridiculous as global warming. Unless you're typing this on a phone or type less than 10 wpm, shortening a name only shaves off milliseconds. Then again, I'm not fond of any sort of shorthand, but seriously, this? |

I don't mind the ones that make sense, like "Art" and "Xos", even "Lux", even though their full forms aren't particularly long, they don't drop anything crucial. Morattica, Slostia, and Tartye, on the other hand, I don't see how you could shorten without it looking weird. And none of those are really in need of being shortened anyway. |

I believe this was also simply for the fun of it, and some people are simply more comfortable with addressing people with short names--maybe because easier, maybe because it gives off a friendlier/closer/warmer vibe, or maybe they just want to? I don't see a need to attack someone over it. |

Morattica = Mora, Mort...Ok, I'm stopping there. That was harder than I thought. And I agree, RahuMir. Hmm... Tartye = Tar or Tart, neither of which are particularly flattering either. Slostia = Slos? Tia! Slooooooooooo... Or 2 if we're going for the shortest possible name since he's Drake2. >.> I'm not derailing this thread because I'm avoiding working on my FB. |

Tart means cake in Polish. I'm down with that. |

I think there was a flirty character in a book I read for my English class--the other characters called her a tart. So... that'll probably be in my mind when I read that name. >.> |

I like Mort, sounds like a good, short, real name. Tart is just a pastry in my mind so..... D2 would sound like a reasonable shortening of Drake2, OH WAIT STAR WARS REFERENCE
