I'm ahead of Emerald? How is "advanced" defined? Most advanced technologies? |

It is based on exports; representing how advanced the industires in a nation are. Obvious anomolies are taken into account. |

I'm content with the ranking that I've got. Tartye has an advanced economy, but it still retains a sizable industrial base, and as such hasn't made the full switch over to a modern service and finance based economy. Most of its manufacturing likely goes into satisfying domestic demand, both civilian and military, and little is therefore left for exports. The second tier is perfect for me. |

I'm still not clear how we're expected to provide information on our economies when the resources map hasn't been finalised. I'm no expert, but I would have thought that the availability of natural resources plays a fairly important role in determining the strength of a nation's economy. |

Some players have contacted ELE with regard to their natural resources so they do know. Others are making an educated guess which is fine since nothing is set in stone. |

Agreed; and this list is not set in stone either. We will edit it as more information becomes available to us. There is no need for anyone to worry. |

I made an educated guess about terrain...and got it wrong! Things may not be set in stone, but I don't like changing the fundamentals of my nation once I've got a clear idea in my head. So, rather than work out the details of my economy only to find that they don't fit the resources I'm allocated, I think I'll just wait for the official announcement...

What will these economic rankings be used for, and what exactly does it mean to be in tier 1 versus tier 4 or tier 2? |

These tiers are an active and ever updating representation of which nations have the most advanced and too a lesser extent powerful economies. Its useful as it also sorts out and unrealistic economic claims, and takes into account a huge range of sources to establish a thruthful guide to our economics. Iit the most comprehensive and accurate representation of economic advancement you'll find; and so acts as a great resource. As for quibbles about positions these rankings work on criteria, not speculation so the standings are what they are! Sorry! Edited by Leraq, Jun 11 2011, 06:03 PM.
