In about 5-9 years we should already have a colony on mars. If we are 10 years ahead then we should already have a colony on another planet. And there are ways to change a planet where it is livable. |

5-9 years? As if. However, I think we've established that a few nations have extraplanetary colonies. Laddneia has the Ensimmäinen Station on Luna, and the Etuvartio and Metallinen on Selene and Artemis. As for other planets... I don't think its been discussed... |

Extra-orbital colonies are unsustainable and will remain that way for quite a long while. A Mars Station is very unlikely with in the next 50 years considering the difficulty of resupply. "Orbital" means space stations and Moon bases.

Anu-Asiya already has a moon colony with a laser err, candy cannon.

I indeed also have a rather petty attempt at a moon colony: on Rhea; it was a joint project between UHAA members; but is considered Leraqi territory |

When I wrote the first descriptions of Alterra's space programs i basically used 2001 (the book, not the movie) as my model. I thought it was a reasonable guess at where our space program would have ended up if we hadn't quit. If you go with that then - yes to moon bases and space stations (with SC1 being the largest by quite a lot) - travel to other planets would be at the Apollo stage. It's possible that people could have landed on the nearest planets but I think that any kind of serious permanent colonization would be decades off.

Ok, not to be a party pooper, but there some people who I'm just gonna ignore when they claim to have moonbases. I won't say who. Anyway, Xosaia has a small, orbital station, a small-ish base on Luna, and a base on Hecate, which is, to my knowledge, the furthest complex from Alterra. |

I have to agree for the most part, but I think it might just be a blanket ignore except for SC1. ![]() But realistically, unless we get more funding in the RL space programs, we're not doing anything in the next 50 years. The same goes for "living forever". That is not even remotely possible by biological means unless we completely change our DNA and shows a naivete about genetics and aging. If we're talking about consciousness transfer... We haven't even started working on that, so no. |
