And of all bills, the PATRIOT act. *sigh* This is, however, old news to me. lol

Emerald, even that article that YOU linked says that other presidents have autopenned. And again, who gives a sh1t about how the signature was signed? Does it affect anything tangible? |

I can see it more as an embarrassment or a politically awkward thing, laws are something that should be signed personally, especially ones that are that volatile. I can agree with the argument as far as the autopen being used for correspondence and cards (eagle scout letters, etc), but legislature is a whole other ballgame. I can also understand the request to re-sign the bill personally, as it could set a bad precedent for the use of the device. Probably why even Bush didn't autopen laws, even though he considered it. |

Also, I came to the conclusion long ago that no party will agree with me, so I vote how I feel on the occasion. It's not likely my single vote will affect the overall vote (living in a red or blue state, for example), but in case it does, I'd find it amusing to see Democrats and Republicans forced to work with independents.
So am I the only one cynical enough not to be surprised by this? This is bad, agreed, but no less surprising than anything else that has happened since 9/11. We've been on a downward slope since then. |

Again, it's nice, but it's not really super significant. @Feni: I know it's in very bad form, but it just doesn't seem like a big deal. The law is still the law. As for having him re-sign it, well I think that's a reasonable request, but I'm sure there are other matters that need presidential attention first. |

I'm with Festus on this one. Heh. Xos: Yeah, I'm positive there are. But I'd at least like to see it before his next round of golf.
