If I'm honest, I'm just not feeling particularly motivated trying to play a small nation of 9 million people in a world where a third of active nations have populations well in excess of 100 million. Right now I'm seeing a lot of discussion, OOC as well as IC, on subjects such as space colonies, nuclear weapons and who has the largest economy/military...and the harsh truth is that I just can't participate in any of these competitions. Even in the arena of co-operative history, my only real contribution is to provide a victim for imperialist aggression! As a result, I'm seriously wondering whether it would make more sense for me to leave Transxokyyria as a sort of 'unofficial NPC'- a nation I play only when required by others- and concentrate instead on Wenlock and Mandeville, which to be honest I'm finding more rewarding at the moment. I realise it may seem strange to complain about playing a small country only to switch to an even smaller one, but frankly, where Alterra is concerned I can't see any real difference between a country of 9 million and one of 250,000. I'm genuinely sorry that it's come to this. I've tried to find a way to make Transxokyyria an interesting nation for me to play within the constraints of realism and existing history, but at the end of the day it's just another small country that will always be bossed around by its more powerful neighbours and when everyone is a more powerful neighbour, that gets boring very, very quickly. |

The Dominion of Lux de Bestias

Unfortunately I agree whole-heartedly. It's difficult to find ways to interact with other nations when you're just plain out smaller and therefore out gunned in every aspect. Add that to the fact that I have 0 important natural resources and my country becomes practically invisible. I've taken to focusing on the cultural aspects of Lux and specific personal interactions between characters but I do wonder how long I can keep that up when the majority of it is with myself. Perhaps in the future a few Luxians will make their way over to Transxokyyria or Wenlock and Mandeville

Hey, I was planning on having Lyventum suffer many terrorist attacks from Anti-Kolmenian (My nation's religion is Kolmenism) groups. Maybe some of them could be based in Transxokyyria, and maybe we work together (or don't) to dispense of them. Just and idea.

I've thought I've had a good start with Destiny. It is more fun to play a micronation. |

I really enjoy your character RP and would love to arrange some with you! I know exactly what you mean, though...earlier this week I had an idea for a RP linking Transxokyyria and Wenlock & Mandeville, but I've been finding it hard to motivate myself to write up a story that is probably only of real interest to me. Ultimately I'm here to RP with others, not to write stories for myself.
I'm not sure a terrorist group would want to base themselves in Transxokyyria at the moment! However, I would certainly be interested in some RP with you and will try to think up some suggestions. |

I agree...which is why I'm beginning to think I should put Transxokyyria on ice and just go with W&M! The problem with Transxokyyria is that I never intended it to be a hopelessly small and weak nation; I wanted it to be about average. On Earth, a nation of 9 million would be just that- unremarkable, but not necessarily completely insignificant either. But on Alterra...9 million puts me second last on the list of active nations! As a result, I must admit that I feel a deep sense of frustration whenever I read all those topics about patents, space programmes, nuclear non-proliferation treaties and above all, who has the best military...because I simply can't compete. I never expected to win any of these races...I never even expected to make the final heats. But I'm not even invited to the pre-race qualifiers!!! Even in the past, my nation was never important...it's role in the World War was to get stomped flat! My mistake...I should have read the script more carefully. |

We have a pretty good military. What we lack in modern equipment, we make up for with Superior training, skill and the natural terrain of Lyventum. However, it came with a price of having a very backwards society. Microwaves, Tv's refrigerators and all those modern appliances are EXTREMELY rare. Even radios are hard to find. very few roads are paved. It's a tough place that breeds tough, and ingenious people. |

I completely understand where you're coming from, having a smaller population than you. Personally, though, I'm all about the nation itself and less about being the biggest and best. A nation isn't really how many WMDs you have, or how well your moon base is going. A nation is based on culture, and that's something that can get easily overlooked. |

If we could work it out, I'd personally would rather be doing character RP than the larger scale stuff. Demoness is actually supposed to be isolationist, but out of necessity I've stepped forward into the international scene because of the problems you've cited. |

I imagine that, once z23-25 get filled, and if they choose to follow our version of history, that we (Festus, you and I) will have many opportunities for rping, Yasutomi. I've imagined those plots as third world nations, and they would probably have been influenced by TX as well as Xosaia. Or, you could have been involved in limiting Xosaian influence; or we could have been or be currently competing for influence in XIDA. |
