See, this is a good discussion. @Demoness, Skye got mad? She made the maps herself no? What would happen if we merely ask if it is okay to adjust the lines to fit more geographically. I don't see why it would be a problem, especially If the cartography committee were the ones drawing the lines on paint or something, with Skye doing the final brush. I think that when she gets back, after the "welcome backs" are over, and she is properly settled back in, we should open a thread where all who have issues will POLITELY write them down, so we can not have the same first few pages as on this thread. We must be calm and collected, listen to Yoda! "anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering" there's a lot of truth in those words. |

I only say this because you mentioned the god of war thing, but in my opinion, the war committee has actually been running remarkably smoothly. we have a system set up, we've just started implementing it. We have discussed the standards and have made sure we all have the same perception of what certain things mean, etc. I'm sure some committees could/should be compressed, but I think the war committee is running the best as it is. And I think that's because it was one of the first committees to be requested, and its job was clearly defined beforehand. What exactly is the econ cmt supposed to do? what does the info cmt do that individual nations don't? It's a bit unclear, and that is why before the econ cmt was even established I had changed my mind about wanting one. But I do agree that there needs to be some modification. My only real concern about condensing is that a committee like the information committee, for instance, needs multiple ppl simply for the manpower. Same with the welcome committee. I'm not on the rp cmt, but I imagine the same is true for that cmt as well. The cart, econ and war cmt's could work, but I don't think they would as well as they do now. At least if we take out active members. |

It's how I approached the situation with her and her stress level at the time, I believe; it's been resolved. I intend to write her a PM with changes I've made and what was suggested while she was gone, but a thread sounds like a better idea honestly. That way everyone can get in on it.
That is actually something I asked to be defined. I received a fair answer, but as I said, I'm not making any decisions until you guys have a long discussion. If I don't hear anything, I'm going to assume you didn't work it out and the committee is defunct.
The Info Committee is supposed to condense the pertinent information at hand into an easily readable format, such as all history of plot ABC, a summary of the War (I'll admit I'm still lost), any information players should know, disclaimers (history is supposed to be cooperative not dictated), etc. There were some other things too, but I can't remember without looking it up.
Which is why you need to talk.
One of the reasons the committees were so large in the first place was to get the large load of work done. The idea, or at least how I interpreted it, was that the committees would eventually dwindle down to just someone maintaining. As of right now, there is a lack of incentive to get stuff done in a timely manner but as I said, there have been a lot of passionate pleas and I've been having some interesting discussions. This is only the first day I've had spoken with anybody. |

Sigh... I remember when the map was blank, I.e. Plotless, and you could draw your own boundaries. I think we chose to go with plots, because we were originally going to write a small basic history for each, so new nations would know what they were getting, and how much freedom they had, I.e. This plot was a member of the X Empire from 1825 to 1830, and fought on the side of ADATTA in the WW. Seeing as we never did that, the plot system seems a bit pointless... |

That's what a lot of the information committee's job nowadays is, organizing those historical details that New Nations need to know overall and specifically for their plot of land. The plots are useful because it shows how much land you can have, that you aren't and can't be an epic super power. If we were really realistic, then we would have established the Geography first then the borders for the nations but it's to late for that.
That's good news, though may I ask how you know she was on? I can't seem to figure it out... Edited by Raz, Jul 20 2011, 07:04 PM.

I wouldn't really say we could draw our own plots; Feni and I didn't... But that's moot. As for the plots, the size of the plot is supposed to be balanced by the resources and geography, so a larger plot may have fewer resources than a smaller one; it's a trade-off for size, or at least that's how I understood it. You are, however, correct as to the Information Committee's responsibilities.
Seriously? You click on a nation and it tells you the last time they were active. When I checked, it was 14 hours instead of 20 days. Or, alternatively, add them to your Dossiers and it'll list that there. |

Wouldn't the cartography committee stop a nation from being a superpower? Thats one of my issues with the map, it doesnt look remotely like a political map should be. In real life, some countries are simply larger than others. Look at Russia! Not every nation can be that big, but one or two could, if a lot of the land they requested was relatively worthless, like siberia or the north of Canada before oil was discovered. I didnt plan for Florinthus to be very big at all. I wanted it as a sort of Venice style country, small but economically dominant. i would be more than happy giving a lot of the land i would have to another nation who wanted to be bigger. Size is not everything. If we were allowed to submit the land we wanted, then it would make for a much more realistic looking map, with happier people. I feel bad for Bob, poor sap never had a chance. |

Wait wait wait... If nation size is proportional to resources, then that means I have more natural resources right? Because I'm very close to the smallest plot. >.> I didn't ask before because ELE was listed as the person to contact and I've never seen him on, but I'm asking now for an official list of natural resources for my plot please. |
