I know this is strongly discouraged and I'm really sorry to be doing this, but I would like to officially request a change of map spot. Transxokyyria simply hasn't worked out for me. I've spent the last two months trying (and failing) to think up ways to make it work and then more recently, trying to make an enjoyable nation out of a pair of dot colonies. But the time has come to call a halt. I'm here to have fun and I'm just not having any. Ideally I'd wait for Skye to return before asking this, but Skye has her own problems right now and I don't feel I can delay the inevitable any longer. I'm not contributing productively to Alterra; I'm just getting increasingly frustrated with myself and the region and unless things change before I go on holiday in a week's time...well I really don't see much point in me returning. Apologies again for messing up! Y |

I don't have a problem with this seeing as how you've had difficulties with that spot from the beginning. |

I don't see a problem with it either. Though I'm not in charge of course. |

I don't have any contention with you doing it, but I can't help but feel as if it's based on an inaccurate perception of the limitations placed on you by the plot that you're in. The only thing really set in stone for you is that there needs to be some sort of mountainous region along your border with me, and even that is negotiable. It should also probably be a bit chilly, but then again maybe there's some el nino thing from the concordia that warms you up. As far as rp opportunities go, XIDA is almost untouched. I originally thought of it as a warsaw pact type thing, but I think it would be more fun to play it as a small coalition of specialized nations that work together to cover eachothers weaknesses; Kaidos has the industries and manpower, I have the tech and navy, you could have the finances, or some major portion of the tech, or whatever. We never rly got around to discussing it. I know it is lopsided towards me and festus, but that's because there hasn't been much talk. I feel like we should probably modify the treaty, and also get down a better idea of our politics. I know you didn't want to be a major power, but you felt like not being one limited your opportunities; this could be a way to get around that. |

I don't feel limited by the spot, Xos...I'm disenchanted with it. Back when I first joined, I had ideas for two different nations: an Asian-themed country in Xia, similar to ones I've played elsewhere, or something completely new in North Zephyr. In the end, I chose to try something different and came up with Transxokyyria. Looking back, I think I made the wrong decision for the right reasons. It's not easy to say for certain why things haven't worked out, but I can identify four contributory factors: 1. The Spot Itself. I know I keep going on and on about this, and I'm sure most of you probably don't get why it's such a big issue for me, but when I first saw the terrain map my heart sank. It's not that there are mountains; I expected those. But I also expected the terrain to fit the borders rather better. I simply don't believe that the borders of the spot are realistic for the terrain. Now with a few minor tweaks, this could have been fixed. But it wasn't, and as a result I just haven't been able to get this niggle out of my head. 2. The Culture. Transxokyyria has the same culture as Xosaia, and because that culture was created by someone else, I've found it hard to emulate. Even something as basic as choosing names for people and places has been a struggle. Now I could have given Transxokyyria a different culture of my own devising, which would have made things somewhat easier...but that would have removed much of the point of choosing the spot in the first place. 3. XIDA. XIDA is clearly very important to you and Kaidos, and rightfully so. But for me, it simply came with the spot. I never actually chose to be a member and as a consequence, it never had as much meaning for me as it does for you. 4. The Invasions. I probably could have lived with the geography and the constant struggle with an unfamiliar culture, but what finally destroyed my enthusiasm was the historical invasions of my country. Now I'm not bringing this up to criticise Ladd or Emerald- this sort of 'historical godmodding' has been so widespread and institutionalised that it simply isn't fair to single out an individual players. And yes, I could have said no. But I don't like to say 'no' as that is contrary to the spirit of co-operation, and in any case it just wouldn't have made sense for Transxokyyria to remain untouched whilst Xosaia was defeated and occupied. Ultimately, the acid test of any RP concept, be it a nation or a character, is RP itself. And for some time now, I simply haven't wanted to RP as Transxokyyria, I've been putting off this decision for weeks, trying to think of ideas to kick-start my interest and make Transxokyyria work, but nothing has stuck and I've just got more and more depressed about it. I'm here to have fun, not to struggle to make a flawed concept work. |

Seriously Ladd, I'm not blaming you or anyone else...this was all part of a wider problem. And believe me, I feel bad for even thinking about changing my spot, because I don't want to let Xos down. I've actually learned a lot from my mistakes here; now I just want to draw a line under the past and move on.

I certainly won't hold it against you, Yasu, but you should know that I am willing to negotiate very much on all those points which involve me. Actually, in regards to culture, well I haven't put as much into it as I would like, and it sounds like you might be better at it than me... sans a few key things, I honestly think it would work better if we started from scratch, if you were willing do so. Also, i feel like I've been following you around lately, so I'm gonna get my thoughts together and just send you a pm. |

I really appreciate that, Xos. My only concern is that you were never the real problem. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what the real problem is! I'm already talking to someone about starting a new nation, but nothing has been decided and obviously I don't want to waste anyone's time. So here's the deal. I'm going away next Tuesday and won't be around for a couple of weeks...and that's my deadline. I'm more than happy to discuss ideas until then, but if we can't find a way to make things work by Tuesday, then I think we have to accept that it's time for me to move on.
