Energy Programmes Rahab's first nuclear power plant was built in 1969. Several more sprung up in the following years and accounted for about 65% of the power generated in Rahab. After the Chenoskov disaster, though, the Order of Wisdom began researching safer energy technologies. A thorium power programme was begun and over the last 20 years Rahab's uranium power plants have been converted to liquid floride thorium reactors. These reactors produce far less longer lived toxic waste. Thorium also cannot be used in weapons technology, particularly when procured illegally. The design also helps to prevent out of control melt-downs like that seen at Chenoskov. The liquid is not pressurized and the reactor has a salt plug at the bottom which leads to an underground lead-lined containment tank. When the liquid heats in an out of controlled reaction the salt plug will melt and the liquid drains into the containment tank. Rahab is also investing in renewable energy sources as well, including solar and wind power. Construction has begun a wind farm in Rahabite waters in the Hrystran Sea. It is estimated that it will be completed in 2015 and will provide about 30% of power generation in Rahab. |

The Year 1265 1265 is in the midst of a time often called "The Golden Age" in Rahab. The Seat of Power is Tamar, home of both the Coucil Chambers and the Headquarters of the Order of Jael. The city of David is a rich centre of trade on the Hrystran Sea. The Arts and Sciences are flourishing. The Order of Jael is busy maintaining and expanding the northern borders. The population is approximately 3 million. Map of Rahab in 1265 Foreign Relations The northern borders were threatened by the Maics and Hites. Nearly all the Maic territory has been subsumed by the Rahabites and only the northern part of Sarai District remains under Maic control. The campaigns at this time are relatively small and focus on annexing land slowly. Rahab has established peaceful relations with the Fonan people to the north, this has led to a fusion of Rahabite, Maic and Fonan ship technologies. While officially allowed to be a part of an Order foreigners are viewed with suspicion by the general public, though their input has been valuable to almost all the Orders. Science Scientific discoveries are plentiful. Only 8 years ago Shia Reb the Wise accurately determined the length of the solar year. A movement is arising in the City of David calling themselves "The Return" who are attempting to convince the Holy Council to outlaw scientific and alchemical study. Trade The City of David is also a major trade centre in Rahab. Sitting on the Hrystran Sea it offers Rahab access to products from all over the world as well as a place to export Lumber and other Rahabite goods.
