Maybe tightly connected city-states? >.> But even so... It does still sound rather contradictory. I understand what you're trying to do, but perhaps we should either change the style (city states) or the name (empire). |

It was just the easiest way for me to explain it. They're all connected in the fact that they have one leader, but the regions that Cerberus conquered weren't forced to fully assimilate. Simply pay taxes and obey the law. Some regions may share cultural influence, but the Cerberus weren't interested in spreading their way of life so much as their power and political influence. Cultural influence that leaked into present-time was a happy accident. |

Have we dated an end to the Cerberus Empire? I'm thinking of having the early Laddneian empire as a successor/usurper empire of the Cerberus. |

we still have to decide on a date for the end of the Cerberus empire, but as I have been reading through my old notes it ended way before the year 0 C.E, maybe 500 years before? I think this will be better in letter nations create their own history concerning the Cerberus empire, also the Cerberus empire changed capitals many times during its reign, so that also creates more room for nations claiming that it was the seat of the empire, also I think it best to create a situation where no one nation can claim they were the cerberus empire and in sense create nations that were once part of its colonies but have now gotten a unique identity, I think we should rather look at the Cerberus empire like ancient greeks, and even though they spoke "latin" and had "roman" culture, they are set too far back to have a defenite influence on any culture. I THINK that the empire just dissloved slowly and from this arose many small city nations that then got unifies, so in essence, a roman civilisation that led to a medival type of city state situation, from there on, a player can choose to either unite or conquer these city states. |

As ELE said, we're placing this far enough back in history that any nation that doesn't want to have Cerberus influence doesn't need to. Also as ELE said, there's speculation on the capital of the empire. It's possible that the capital moved around with the growth and importance of the empire, and so multiple nations that claim to have the Cerberus capital could be justified. However, it would never manifest beyond a local claim. That being said, it's also important that no one tries to claim that they were the Cerberus Empire. We have enough trouble with empires in the colonial period. The Cerberus Empire will simply fade into history, with its culture outlasting the Empire itself. |

In my factbook, I have the Cerberus Empire declining and collapsing during the 1st and 2nd centuries CE. I also seem to remember working that out with ELE way back when. But, if that doesn't work for everyone else, I can change it. The dates aren't all that important to my history. Edited by Drake2, Dec 31 2012, 06:57 PM.
