| Welcome. You've probably noticed that you're not where you're supposed to be. There is a reason for this. Something has ripped your reality to shreds. Your reality and every other reality out there. I'm working to fix the problem, but there's only so much I can do in any allotted amount of time. So I'm placing the survivors- this includes you- here while I sort things out. "Here" would be a near-perfect replica of Earth, a recurring location in many realities. Please follow the instructions on the computer in front of you and create an ID for use on the network- this ID will be useful in contacting both other survivors and myself. Once your ID is set up you are free to go find yourself somewhere to live until this whole thing blows over. Don't worry- there's nobody here but other survivors, so you can live in any unoccupied residency you come across. Thank you very much, and have a good stay in this empty Earth. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and requests you may have in regards to your stay here. - X Join our community! One… Two… Three… The last breath left his lips. This was it, then. No more taking care of Cloud. He had to leave the blond alive. The price of freedom sure was high. Then again… Seeing Cloud scream in the rain as he took his last breath… He wondered which of them was actually free. …As if that mattered now. He reached out a hand. Angeal… Angeal was reaching for- And suddenly it was white. This… What was this? The Lifestream? No… He had seen the Lifestream behind Angeal. This wasn’t it. Then where was he? Why was he alive? When all his lungs wanted to do was stop. The white was gone as suddenly as it had begun and Zack whined as he found himself on the floor in an… office? A note was clenched in his hand, and it was with blurred vision and shaking hands that Zack managed to read it. Eventually, after what felt like hours, he managed to crawl to his feet, to the computer, and type in a single word. 'HELP' |

Where was he? How had he gotten here? Most importantly, who was he? He didn't understand. He didn't even know his name for sure, but nonetheless the put in the first thing that popped into his head when he tried to remember his name: Sephiroth. It was the best he had, and the only thing he could think of. He sat on the roof of the very, very tall building with his laptop and typed with near-impossible speed, "I need to know where I am. If I'm not the only one, inform me here." This was a good start. Then, he started drifting around this site known simply as "The Network". One name popped out to him, a writer of one of the most recently-updated blogs... Zack Fair. He wasn't sure why this name intruiged him so, but whoever it was needed help. He didn't know why, as he'd arrived here perfectly fine, but he added a quick reply. Perhaps he could be of assistance. After all, he'd like to meet this "Zack". |

Zack panted as he slumped against the desk. There was a small ding, and he looked up at the computer screen in front of him. In a moment of clarity, he realized that the technology wasn't as advanced as home. That he could remember. But that was not important now. There was a reply, asking where he was. Zack could barely read the message, let alone who sent the message. Great, he would have to reply. And he had barely managed the 'help'. With heavy hands he attempted to type 'building' and hit send. That was the best he could do. The note had said where they arrived, right? So that should be enough? Hopefully help would arrive soon. But the computer 'dinged' again, and he once again read the message, this time filled with disbelief. Seriously? They were asking for more information with the state of the last two messages? Surely they had realized he couldn't reply any more than he already had! ...Great... This person obviously had Sephiroth's understanding of people... |

He sighed, irritated. Obviously he was in a building. Which one? He waited for a reply, but none came. After five minutes, he sighed and snapped the laptop shut. This place would be a decent place to start, correct? He combed the floors, heading down and trying to figure out everything at once. Who was he? Where had he come from? How had he gotten here? Those three questions nagged him like an obsession, filling his brain and blocking out all other thoughts. Somehow, though, he was able to stay alert as he checked for anything remotely like an injured man... and when he saw it, he was immediately shocked. This man... he knew him. He knew him very well... a coworker? Yes, a coworker. He nodded a greeting and slowly approached Zack. "What exactly is wrong?" he asked, mostly asking what hurt /most/, because this man looked like a train wreck. Something told him to check his pocket, and he pulled out a small glowing orb. He automatically held it out to Zack and channeled energy through it, and watched indifferently as some of the minor wounds were cured. Some little voice in the back of his head told him that this was a very small Cure Materia, another wondered what Materia were, and yet another was screaming at him and asking him why he'd just healed the man in front of him. |

Zack was barely aware of anything going on around him. Only a minute after the last reply arrived and he had been starting to drift off. Ten more, and he was unconscious, slumped against the desk. It was a wonder he was still standing, since he had been due to die almost an hour ago now. ...At least, it had been an hour since he got here. The white space was just timeless. Either way, the only thing Zack recalled was a warmth rushing over him... and then his eyes started to open. With time-honed practice he mad a survey of himself as he woke. He was still very bad off, likely incapable of moving. Part of it was the injuries he received on that cliff, but some of it was likely malnutrition and exhaustion. But this would hold him over until he had real medical help. That thought complete, he turned blurred vision toward whoever had used that pathetically low-level Cure on a dying man. ...Well, that explained a lot. With a groan, Zack let his head fall back to the desk. Sephiroth. Sephiroth. Of course it would be him. Why wouldn't it be? Just his luck... At least he didn't seem homicidal at the moment. |

He noticed the lack of enthusiasm from the man he'd just helped. He just didn't care. At all. He pocketed the Materia as he asked, "You're Zack Fair, correct?" The prodding memories told him that he'd known Zack Fair before. Probably very well. He couldn't remember a scrap of it. Every time he tried to remember, a thick fog surrounded his memories and hid them from view... he was sick of it. He wanted to know, for Mother's sake! Part of him wondered who "Mother" was, but he brushed it off for now. The voice that had yelled at him for curing Zack picked up again, but Sephiroth didn't know or care what it was. Was knowing his name for sure too much? It was maddening. If he wasn't mad already. He suspected as much, if the muted screaming in the back of his head was anything to go by. He found himself walking forward and picking Zack up, then carrying him downstairs. Elevators were slow; Sephiroth was down and out faster than should be physically possible. This man needed medical help. |

Though Ienzo of course did not know the term for it, he was so totally a lurker. Attempting to make sense of this 'Network' in front of him, he had come across the logs of one Zack Fair. (Interesting -- this Zack person seemed to have a surname.) And he was clearly not in a good way; his messages looked rather like he was batting his hands haphazardly at the buttons, and this suggested either mental or physical ill health. There were comments provided by an individual named Sephiroth, who was going to find Zack, apparently by virtue of saying so. Ienzo actually raised an eyebrow at this one. Even from looking outside, he could see that this was a very large city. And, after all, this Sephiroth could be anywhere. Shaking his head, Ienzo left the (still somewhat confounding) machine where it was, and started down the stairs... only to find himself staring at a black-haired man, slumped on the desk. And from the opposite side of the room, there was an obnoxious dinging noise, and someone else stepped out from some kind of chamber (Ienzo thought for a second that it was an elevator of some kind, but then decided that it looked too ridiculous). The boy folded his arms and lurked in the stairwell. |

Zack flinched as he was picked up, even though Sephiroth made no move to hurt him. He was still disoriented, and the room was nothing but a huge blur. Still, it wasn't that surprising. A single cast of a low-level cure was hardly enough to fix someone who was in as much shit as he was. Damn ShinRa... and whatever decided to take him here. He was being taunted with life, and he knew it. Whenever he got back home, he was bound to die. But in the meantime... "Puh.... own..." The words refused to leave his mouth smoothly as he demanded to be put down. He didn't want to leave yet. Not until he really had some idea of where he was, other than the fact it was an office building. However, Sephiroth didn't seem to hear and Zack let out a low, dog-like whine as he was lugged toward the stairs like a sack of potatoes. He never even noticed the stranger lurking in the shadows like a Turk. |

Sephiroth heard, of course, but he hadn't been around people in a long time (and thus couldn't understand unless they were speaking correctly, and Zack was in no condition to do so), and only heard the shrill, shrieking voice of his Mother (whether he knew it was her or not) and the calm, reasonable voice of his past self. Now, he was a confused mix of them both. The angry shrieks of his Mother told him to "kill the traitor this instant", but Sephiroth hadn't seen anything remotely like treason from the man he held. Sephiroth also failed to notice the boy in the shadows, mostly because he was focused primarily on two things and lacked the military memories that usually forced him to be aware all the time no matter what. He could notice a threat from miles away - the Mako did that for him - but nonthreatening people failed to catch his attention. He went a floor down. |

Interesting. Ienzo stood there for a few minutes (LIKE A TURK), watching the now-empty stairwell (LIKE A TURK) where the silver-haired man had disappeared to the lower floor. The black-haired one had kept rambling nonsense that Ienzo could not understand for the life of him (LIKE A TURK), but despite this, he still rather wanted to find out where this was going to end up (LIKE A TURK). On the other hand, he also didn't want to go snooping around (LIKE A TURK)... ...eh. (LIKE A TURK.) Ienzo ninja'd across the room (LIKE A TURK) and peered down the stairwell after the silver-haired man (LIKE A TURK). They still appeared to be completely unaware of his very presence, and he intended to keep it that way (LIKE A TURK). He didn't make a sound. Like a Turk. |
