Good day to you all.

Once a great man uttered;

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity".

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Good day to you Ethan. Thanks for joining the forum.

Good quote from Martin there. Makes a lot of sense. In Islam, we have certain principles that also teach us that we have to be concerned for not just us, but our brothers, neighbours, community etc.

Maybe that is what this forum is about............

Anyway, welcome to the forum and please, feel free to contribute.
And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

Surat Al-`Ankabūt [29:46]

I believe peace is not just for hippies. Living in peace is about living harmoniously with yourself, others, and all sentient beings around you. Living in peace is both an outward and an inward process. Outwardly, living in peace is a way of life in which we respect and love each other in spite of our cultural, religious, and political differences. Inwardly, we all need to search our hearts and minds and understand the fear that causes the impulse to violence, for in continuing to ignore the rage within, the storm outside will never subside.

While you will find your own meanings of peaceful existence and outward manifestations of a peaceful life according to your beliefs and lifestyle, there are some basics underpinning living in peace that cannot be overlooked, such as being non-violent, being tolerant, holding moderate views, and celebrating wondrous-life.
And do not argue with the People of the Scripture except in a way that is best, except for those who commit injustice among them, and say, "We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. And our God and your God is one; and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."

The most lovable quality any human being can possess is tolerance. It is the vision that enables one to see things from another's viewpoint. It is the generosity that concedes to others the right to their own opinions and peculiarities. It is the bigness that enables us to let people be happy in their own way instead of being compelled to follow a certain way, ideology etc.
