It was a sad day today for the world to envisage mother nature taking it's toll on Japan. This whole thing about the moon being close to the earth (19 March 2011) and conspirers are uttering stuff about the magnetism which evidently causes our planet to experience brutal natural phenomena. Are they correct or is their some other phenomena taking place.... I'll let you people decide for yourselve. Will we humans reach out to help the people or sit back and awe at this horrendous outcome. Edited by Ethan, Mar 12 2011, 12:52 AM.

Heart goes out to the poor people of Japan who were hit hard by this cataclysmic disaster. The least we can do is to pray for them and to contribute towards any relief effort. Did you know that there is chapter entitled "The Earthquake" in the Quran? It is a short but brief chapter - When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake. (Az-Zalzalah 99:1) And when the earth throws out its burdens, (Az-Zalzalah 99:2) And man will say: "What is the matter with it?" (Az-Zalzalah 99:3) That Day it will declare its information (about all what happened over it of good or evil). (Az-Zalzalah 99:4) Because your Lord has inspired it. (Az-Zalzalah 99:5) That Day mankind will proceed in scattered groups that they may be shown their deeds. (Az-Zalzalah 99:6) So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. (Az-Zalzalah 99:7) And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant), shall see it. (Az-Zalzalah 99:8) This chapter is depicting the events of the final hour which is part of our faith to believe in. However us Muslim simply interpret the actions of 'mother nature' to be the work of God Himself. We have derived this belief from our holy scriptures that mentions natural disasters effecting nations in the past just like it does in scriptures of the other Abrahamic faiths. |

Who controls 'Nature'? Of course we believe that God does. So this means that any natural disaster can only be by the will of God. As Compatriot mentioned above, there are many instances mentioned in Islamic, Christian and Judaic Scriptures where God informs us that he wiped out a nation or peoples due to their wrong doing and that this was by way of what we call today 'natural disasters'. A classic example would be the story of Prophet Noah (as) and the great flood which wiped out a nation of people. In this regards, we could see natural disasters around the world in the same light. The earthquakes in Pakistan, The Tsunami in the Indian Ocean some years back, Hurricane Katrina and so on and so forth. |

I see, similar to the Christians and the Jews then. Where God orders Noah to build the ark so he can punish the wicked who transgressed against Him. |

Unfortunately this may portray to be true. This may be because the society we live in at the moment don't believe in God ?? God isn't uttered in this country as it used to be. It's actually become a Godless society. May be because of this reason people have lost respect for one another. The three monotheistic faiths actually had more respect for each other during it's earliest emergence. I suppose this was because they all came from the same roots i.e. Abrahamic roots.
