Ok, it has been 31 days since i last shaved my beard. After numerous hints from friends and family and seeing the brothers at Islamic Centre Luton I must admit I felt jealous.

'I want in' is what i said to myself. Watched some videos on the Sunnah of the beard, kindly sent by a dear brother. You know who you are. Embraced the message and the rest is history.

Tickled loads in the first 10 days. What was more DISTRESSING was the amount of grey hair. White hair I mean. SubhanAllah it is what it is and i love it.

Wifey loves the beard MashaAllah, which helps.

All in all Alhumdolilah.

MashaaAllah, welcome to the forum. You soon get used to the beard :akbar:

Some great brothers at the Islamic Centre who I'm sure will help you as much as you let them. :alham:

I look forward to your involvement in the forum to help us dispel the lies and deception of the EDL.

Day 32.

So, on my way to work today i thought about peoples perception of me. Not that is matters and of course the main concern i have is about Allahs swt perception of me.

I said to myself if everyone thinks that all muslims are terrorists, is it acceptable for me to think that every bearded man is a muslim.

This would include people such as Brian Blessed, Mr T from the A-Team, Rolf Harris (Not sure if a goatie counts) Santa Claus, Brad Pitt sometimes.......you get the point.

Back to the Beard and the advantages. I actually felt like a walking contradiction. For quite a while. Having a 'beard' and smoking is not a good look. So to cut a long story short I quit smoking yesterday after 18 years of smoking. SubhanAllah, what helped is all the brothers with their variety of methods on assisting me and giving me the strength.

I thank you all and thank Allah swt for giving me the opportunity to live and breath nicotine free InshaAllah.

MashaaAllah! Quit smoking after 18 years!

I also quit 9 years ago and only because I started to practice Islam. Before that, I tried to give up a few times but always ended up smoking again. It's amazing the strength and determination that the deen gives you.

May Allah make it easy for you and assist you in remaining steadfast.

Alhamdulilah i have been practising the deen since 2010 i am a born Muslim but was ignorant to praying 5 times a day and the rest of it, i was a part time Friday only Muslim if you like and Alhamdulilah Ramadan 2010 Allah guided me and Accepted my Dua for me to change my ways and lifestyle , I use to have a line from the tight to the left side burn and didnt shave people started asking are you keeping a beard for Sunnah at that time i didnt even think about it and just kept on growing it and then i decided to keep it. It was itchy but i ignored it i use to get it trimmed and lined up ect until few months back till i found out you shouldn't touch the beard if its for Sunnah reason also having a haircut which isn't one length Yes ONE LENGTH Brothers with fades and beard what's that about !? Also Music i stopped Alhamdulilah because i couldnt concentrate on Quran so music had to thrown away 4gig of it and Smoking and being Muslim is Two things that dont go together so i thought how can i be a Muslim and smoke knowing its Haram forbidden in the Islamic lifestyle so I QUIT using a inhaler then Miswak . asalaam alaiykum wah rahmatulahi wah barakatohoo.

Day 33,

First of all a big well done to british muslim. Interesting choice of name. SubhanAllah. MashaAllah what a turn around. Keep it up AKHI.

So, on route to work this morning, subhanAllah 2 miles there and 2 miles back, i felt the wind blowing through parts of my beard. It was a nice feeling. Obviously the beard is hardly at a length where it would sway, but i must admit i felt good and proud. Like a lion.

This morning as my daughter was getting ready for nursery i asked her to comb the beard. SubhanAllah it did help. It took away the iritation.

Going to do some research on beard products. Any tips????
