In the midst of the flat world, there is a hill, or mound. It is barren: neither stony, nor earthy; and upon it, no green thing grows. It affords to the Ainur a view of the world all around them: endless seas, covering the whole of the earth.

As one looks up, the sky above is black, and no light is present, save the light from the Ainur themselves.

From the midst of this sea rises a great mountain, steeper than any save an Ainur could hope to scale, it seems, its appearance like ocean jasper, pale with scattered spots, not unlike Ažāra's tear. Its surface gleams in the moonlight, shining almost to the point of being luminescent. From the peak of the mountain comes a waterfall, going from the top all the way down, to the very ocean itself. Where the waterfall meets the sea, strange coral, of varying shades of blue, has grown onto the lower portions of the mountain. In addition, all about the mountain, a great coral reef rises up, even above the water level, sharper than any metal that could be forged by mortals. The coral entwines itself around the base of the mountain, ensuring that no one can climb the base of the mountain without being cut terribly by the razor-sharp coral. The reef extends in all directions from the mountain for about a half-mile, sitting just below the water level, and extending all the way to the ocean floor, many thousands of leagues below. Throughout the underwater coral reef are numerous winding tunnels, which formed a great, underwater labyrinth of sorts. The tunnels were varying in size, ranging from a foot wide, to fifty feet across. It is a dangerous reef, and served well as both wall and guard.
