Another non-metal cd but oh well. Avril's new cd shows even through all shes done, shes still pretty much the same rocker chick. This cd however isn't mainly the punk-rock music we have become use to hearing from her. Although the themes of her songs ( partys, men, etc), she also has some raw love songs. More so than her last album did. The songs are good, it's just that it's not the type of song she usually does. The main hit song "What The Hell" gets the cd off right with a good catchy song and sets the pace for a good album. Also in the special edition album (in which I'm reviewing) it features a few acoustic songs (including "What The Hell") and 2 covers songs. Cover songs being "Bad Reputation" (by Joan Jett) and "Knockin' On Heavens Door" (by Guns And Roses). Although the songs don't do much the cover of "Bad Reputation" is quite good and sounds like it could be her song. Mainly because it sounds like her older punk songs. Overall, this isn't a bad cd, it just takes a few listens to get use to. After that its a good punk/rock cd by a great artist who shows off that even after everything she can still rock. Score: 7.5/10 |
