"I-I'll try." Comet smiled promisigly at Niddy, but his smile was naught but a mask over falseness. He didn't own a computer, much less the facebook he'd heard of so much. Nor could he use Rellik's computer; that was one made for the future CEO of a mega-corporation, no for a commoner like himself. He didn't even know how to turn that thing on, and even if he knew where the power button was, how could he possibly breach the Ach'tsun security measures when even Rellik ends up grumbling at it and storming off to study at the library? The monstrosity in his office was nothing but an ornament to the two of them--a gift from family that is supposed to have use, but someone forgot to pack a manual. No, someone forgot to pack a personal assistant to boot it up for you. He was still caught in a bit of a daze as he walked with Drazil out from the classroom. "She actually talked to me..." he mused dreamily. "I thought Nydia didn't even know I existed..." This won a giggle out of Drazil, who pat him on the head and grinned. "You're so cute," she said. "Too bad she's taken. I would have approved of that one. But hey, you got a free book out of the deal, huh?" "Yeah, yeah..." Comet blushed ducked out of her grip. "Don't you have something to do today? Like, I don't know, skip and go to the park?" She giggled again. "Rellik has a meeting with his father today. Apparently he couldn't ditch this one." "Oh." Comet shrugged and kept walking, making his way briskly to the courtyard. He looked atthe book in his hands thoughtfully. Maybe he would read today... --- Raian was ready to leave to return to the college right when his observation ended, but found himself lingering for a moment to watch Majii in the hallway. She was talking to a boy--her boyfriend, he presumed--and so he kept his gaze secretive, watching their conversation from afar. He prided himself in his perceptive abilities--ever since he was little, he'd been better than the usual child at spying on people. And he did not like what he saw. The boy she was with carried himself with an air he did not like, and he was a bit too forceful with his movements, yet Majii put up with it like it was commonplace. Something was off here, and if he put two and two together...well, he prayed the boy wouldn't start injuring her any time soon, if it wasn't already too late. Not that it was supposed to be his problem, but he'd seen enough of that out of older couples and to see high schoolers letting themselves fall into that spiral was unnerving. The heroic side of him wanted to follow her and find a way to help, but the logical part of him knew he couldn't get involved in someone else's situation. |

((I have something planned for Niddy that I can't really write out until the next school day. This is temporarily just Majii Raian. :/)) Lunch and orchestra went by in a blur for Majii, which was rather unusual considering those were her favorite parts of the day. Ever since she said goodbye to Harrison after lunch, she had an ominous feeling that she just couldn't shake. She couldn't even play well with his tone on her mind. It was always the tone he took before they were about to have some sort of fight. Perhaps another nasty rumor emerged that she'd been cheating on him. She was too used to it, though...Harrison would catch wind of something like that and confront her. When she denied it, he would always hit her and leave her alone, crying under the awning outside the school. Then he would call her and apologize profusely, and his tone would magically change. He would go from the bane of her existence to prince charming, and it scared her that a human being was even capable of that. Still, the experience had happened so many times, she didn't know why she was still so scared. She swallowed hard as he approached her; knowing what was coming she shut her eyes tight and dropped her violin case in fear. She tried to focus on the awning...yes, the awning. The awning was an area that connected the science wing to the gym, but it wasn't used very often except by teachers near the end of the day. It was Majii and Harrison's secret meeting place after school, the place where he first asked her out over a year ago. "Majii..." She heard him say, a bit more sweetly than she expected. Harrison reached out to touch her face, and Majii flinced and jerked away. "Hey, I'm not gonna hurt you..." Majii opened her eyes and stared up at Harrison, seeing a kind smile when she was expecting him to be furious. He leaned down to kiss her, and Majii hesitantly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. Her paranoia couldn't have been all for nothing, could it? But the kiss lasted a bit too long. Harrison slipped a hand under her shirt, and Majii automatically jerked away. ((Don't worry, it won't get graphic.)) "Stop!" She shouted, pushing Harrison back. She instantly regretted this, terrified that he was going to push her harder. "Why should I? C'mon, I'm the captain of the football team, I can't be dating the only girl in the school that won't put out..." Harrison said, attempting to grab at her again. Majii slapped his hand away. So that was what this was about...they'd had this argument before. It always began as playful advances, but as soon as she rejected him, he would get angry. "I mean...not...here..." Majii replied, glancing around to make sure nobody could see them. It wasn't the real reason. While the prospect of losing her virginity at school was completely unattractive, she generally just didn't want to lose it at all. Harrison scoffed in disbelief, suddenly pushing Majii up against the wall. "Harrison, stop..." Tears were beginning to form in her eyes, but crying always made things worse. She wasn't expecting anything this bad... "No, you stop." Harrison's tone was grim as he unzipped her jacket. Majii fought, pulling it back over her before Harrison suddenly threw a punch. With that, she was down on the concrete, desperately staring at the door. Nothing could have prepared her for what happened. ((Aaaand...you know what happens, and Harrison just kinda...leaves her there. Yeah. )) |

Comet yawned as he made his way down the street to the school, his notebook and Niddy's book in hand. He should have managed to get a bit of extra rest the night before compared to the usual, seeing as he showed up at the bar before opening time to help the owner set things up only to find it was closed for a week while because the owner had fallen down a flight of stairs and was injured. And so he spent the rest of the day at Rellik's flat, silently flipping through the book while Rellik sat on the couch with Drazil and silently chatted about that afternoon's meeting. On a typical day of the sort, he would have felt particularly refreshed from a lon night's sleep the next morning. However, a comment from his friend kept him up worrying that night. "Apparently," he had mumbled, "someone's targeting the lives of the Ach'tsun family. We're still trying to figure out just who it is...Personally, I think the vice president is trying to get rid of us because if we're all gone, the company goes to him. Krof was always the shady type, but Dad won't hear any of that from me..." Naturally, Comet was more concerned than Rellik about that indirect threat. He knew the Ach'tsun family had plenty enough prestige to keep them protected, being ahead of the fastest-growing electronics company in the nation, but anything could happen to anyone at any time... He didn't want someone else to lose their whole family like he did; and so close to him too. Hence why he was so early that day. He was so restless, he'd even gotten up early. He had no idea why the situation didn't worry his best friend as much as it did him--yet even if it did, he wouldn't show any sign of being anxious. That was just how he was. Tired and preoccupied, he settled against a wall and opened the book again. He was a generally quick reader--perhaps because he didn't give it any time to sink in--and already the novel was halfway done. Not that he recalled much of what happened in it. He mostly skimmed over the words while his thoughts processed a whole different set of concerns. --- Raian walked at a measured pace, humming quietly to the music he'd stuck in his CD player. He'd found one of those American bands and figured he would give them a listen--expanding his horizons, he would say. It wasn't quite different from the music he was used to hearing back home, but it didn't have as many electronic effects as he was used to. Perhaps he would try their rap music next, or their pop...though a lot of it was popular in his hometown, it was usually artists from several years ago like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Madonna. It took a while for most artists to make it overseas unless they were particularly talented, and in the time he'd spent in America, he hadn't really expanded his musical horizons until just then. Maybe understanding the music their students liked would help him understand the students themselves. He didn't have any class until that evening, so he figured he'd get an early start that day and see what other American classes were like. Maybe that one English class really was the troublesome class, after all. |

Majii desperately clutched her books and her violin case, shutting her eyes tight as she walked down the steps of the school bus. Her bus was always far too early, and she would usually walk to the auditorium and practice her violin until the first bell rang. She tried her hardest to ignore the badly-concealed whispers of her name as she made her way to the band hall. She tried her best that morning to hide her black eye under layers of makeup, but it was still very obvious. She took an alternate route to the auditorium, doing her best to avoid that awning until she found that the door was still locked. She cursed, kicking at the door and pounding on it with her fists, but no one answered. She stormed away and snuck into the building, hoping none of the teachers that disliked her would notice. Before she even realized where she was walking, she ended up at Mr. Prestwick's door. He was her favorite teacher, if not for the fact that she loved to read than because his class was so easy. She was the only one in the class with an A, so she supposed he wouldn't mind a visit. "Uhm...Mr. Prestwick?" She called, opening the door. Immediately she was greeted with a cocked eyebrow. "Christ, Majii, what happened to your eye?" Mr. Prestwick asked. "Did you even ice that?" Majii swallowed hard, trying to come up with a good story. "I...I got hit in the face with a volleyball. Yeah." Majii replied. Mr. Prestwick looked skeptical, but dropped the subject. "I was wondering if I could stay here until the bell rings...the auditorium is locked and I wanna play my violin so..." Mr. Prestwick dropped the newspaper he was reading, startling Majii and making her jump. Mr. Prestwick rose an eyebrow again at her sudden skittishness. "Yeah, yeah sure, if you don't mind an audience. Eady's about to come back from the bathroom and Mr. Go might be here today." Mr. Prestwick replied, returning to his reading. Majii faked a smile and gave a quick thanks, setting her books down on her desk and opening the case of her instrument. She tuned it and set the body on her shoulder, starting a lighter rendition of Tambourin. ..... "Come on, Estaria! Smile like you don't want to kill me!" shouted Alyce. The early morning practices were getting rather annoying, especially when competition season was over. Niddy tried her best to smile, leg quivering in the grasp of her fellow cheerleaders. She glanced over to Maysie, the squads second-best flyer who was on the opposite end of the pyramid. Maysie smiled no matter what, so Niddy tried to mimic her before she was tossed into a back tuck and cradled out. "Alright! I wanna see you on this feild at 4 o'clock sharp!" the captain yelled, and everyone grabbed their things and made their way to either the courtyard or the cafeteria. As soon as the cheer was done, Niddy's smile turned to a melancholic expression that she couldn't find the heart to conceal. She looked around the courtyard for Eady, but she supposed he was spending the morning in his dad's classroom again. Her eyes stopped on Comet, and she couldn't help but smile a bit, making her way over to her new friend. She supposed she didn't have to worry about Drazil's warning anymore, considering Cole was hospitalized... "Hey..." Niddy greeted weakly, biting her lip at Comet. She hoped with all her heart she could have a normal conversation with him without bursting into tears over the events of the previous night. |

Comet blinked sleepily and looked up, dazed for a moment before he realized that Niddy was talking to him. And here he thought that yesterday's conversation may have been a wild dream and the book a hallucination; he flushed and put said book down, flustered. "Oh...good morning," he said quietly, smiling shyly. He examined her face and noted a few traces of anxiety. Was she going to cry...? "Are...are you alright?" Oh, he pleaded quietly, please don't cry. He wasn't even previously aware that she let her bright self fall prey to tears. Had something happened to her the night before? She was the last person he wanted to see hurt, seeing as he'd been more or less infatuated with her for the past year. --- Raian made his way right to the English class he'd observed the day before after he got into the school building. After all, he didn't really know where anything else was... "Good morning," he greeted as he walked in to the classroom, bowing respectfully to the teacher. "I have late classes only today, so I come by to see your other classes." He gulped as he realized he'd made a mistake. "...came by, I mean. Forgive my error." He glanced at the two students populating the room--the teacher's son, he presumed, and a friend. He recognized the girl from the class the day before as 'the pretty one': Majii. But something was wrong. She wasn't fooling him with the makeup hiding her black eye, and she seemed a bit more...detached than the day before. "Are you alright, miss?" he asked politely to her. Either way, her violin playing was nice...maybe she was just one of those types who always looked sad when they played music. But he had a feeling it was something more, and after seeing her with that boy the day before, he also had a feeling it had something to do with that. |

Niddy silently cursed herself. Was her sadness that obvious? Still, she was a cheerleader, and she had to stay peppy all the time. School spirit, right? She was still mad at herself for spending yesterday's lunch in the bathroom, crying, but at least that wasn't in front of Comet. "I...um..." Niddy stared down at the ground, feeling a huge lump in her throat. Comet didn't want to hear about her problems, that made her seem needy and insecure. She should be vague about it, and then he'd leave her alone. "Well...Cole's in the hospital...but he'll be fine; I guess I'm just worried." No, she would have to do her absolute best to keep things a secret for now. The truth was just too humiliating. "So...do you like Dorian Gray? I think it's my favorite we've read this year...I really like Sybill; I cried when she died...wait, you haven't gotten to that part yet, have you?" Niddy sounded a bit frantic; she didn't want to spoil the whole book for Comet. ....... Majii jumped at Raian's sudden appearence, squeaking on the violin a bit before she stopped playing. She didn't know what it was, but for some reason it was very hard to lie to him, even if she didn't really know him. With Raian's question, Eady also raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, that's all fine well and good. I hope you can stay for the AP class, the one that doesn't suck." Mr. Prestwick replied to Raian. "They're presenting their soliloquies today, a little study on Shakespearean writing. Much more well behaved, too. I don't understand why my favorite son here is still..." Eady rolled his eyes. "Because, I don't have time to have a project every other day. Show choir's really demanding." Eady replied, cutting his dad off. "Son, I'm very supportive of you, and I respect your lifestyle choices...but that was the most homosexual thing you've ever said." Mr. Prestwick jested. Eady crossed his arms and stared over at the wall. He was the least gay person he knew, so what if he liked showtunes? Majii was still searching for the story she'd told Mr. Prestwick before, hoping Raian wouldn't find any holes in it. "I um...I got hit in the face with a volleyball yesterday." Majii lied, hoping the subject would drop. "Ya'lls team didn't practice yesterday." Eady said accusingly. "Show Choir was in there practicing for the pep rally." He knew full well that all wasn't well with the couple of the year. Harrison was obviously a very cruel and malicious person, even to his girlfriend. It was sad, really, he treasured Majii's friendship, and would give anything to see her with a good guy. Unfortunately, all his male friends were in choir, and all of them were gay or taken. "Yeah, I know!" Majii laughed weakly. "I was showing Nor some stuff in the backyard. Hit me straight in the eye and then went to bed without supper." Eady nodded with an incredulous smile. "Right." He said, decided to drop the subject if she truly didn't want to talk about it. "Why'd you stop playing; I was about to drop a beat!" Majii smiled weakly in reply. At least he stopped talking about it...It would've been so much worse if her black eye wasn't the only bruise visible. She had her jacket all the way zipped up and her hair down to hide the hand shaped ones around around her neck, and her shorts thankfully weren't short enough to reveal the ones at the top of her thighs. Her arms were completely covered from fighting, and her back was covered in scrapes from the concrete. She started shivering at the memory, trying her best to pick up her violin again and start playing something a bit more modern for Eady. |

Comet smiled reassuringly. "Oh...it's okay. I don't normally read books anyway, so when I do, I don't mind knowing what's going to happen in them." He shrugged sheepishly. He really would have read more if he had time to, but he never found himself an opportunity between work and everything else. On Sunday, his one full day off, he usually slept off all the stress from the week and then cleaned up for Rellik so that his presence didn't look like a commoner pest worth eliminating to the rest of the Ach'tsun. Not much reading time in there; Rellik was generally neat, but he was terrible about forgetting to clean out the fridge and do laundry... He could just say it definitely was a day's worth of work. "It's too bad to hear about Cole..." he mentioned. "He's your boyfriend, isn't he?" He prayed the word 'boyfriend' didn't come out sourly. Comet had no right to envy someone in the hospital. "It must be hard for you...I don't exactly know what's happened to him, but I do hope he has a quick recovery." --- Raian watched Majii with his brow furrowed with worry. It wasn't hard for someone like him to tell she was lying; he was very observant of people's actions. It disappointed his family when he had chosen to move to America and study English while they wanted him to put his powers of observation to 'good use' and join up in the family practices. Dodging cameras and subduing guards because he was being paid by some politician to get dirt on another...that was not how he wanted to live even if all of the others didn't mind working underground. It was a stupid, unrealistic practice that should have left with the last era. His thoughts centered back on Majii and her song. She was obviously unsettled by explaining herself...which was even better evidence towards her falsity. He also had a bad feeling this had to do with the boy she was with the day before...oh, what a poor girl. He had that strong urge to help before it got worse, but first he had to pry the truth from her... He supposed he would have to confront her. But later--when she wouldn't have to face and tell everyone about her forceful boyfriend. Such a situation was a personal problem, but he'd decided then to make it his problem as well. |

A Pimp Named Slickback

Niddy's lip quivered at the mention of her poor Cole...She hoped with all her heart that would forgive her and take back what he said the night before, but she knew she wouldn't forgive her if she were him. "Well..." Niddy choked out. "Y'see...He came over last night, and wanted to be sweet so I like, made him him dinner and stuff...and it was Indian food, so I was trying real hard to make the seasoning right, and I added in some cumin..." Niddy could feel tears gathering in her eyes and sniffed a bit. "And he ate it, and then he started like, sputtering and coughing and stuff, and I was so scared, and he asked me if I'd put cumin in it and I said, 'yeah', and he just got worse and worse and I called 911 but I thought he was gonna die cus he was like...covered in hives and oh my god..." by that point in the story, Niddy was sobbing pitifully and hugging herself tight, wondering if her blond hair in her face could conceal her tears. It was a fruitless hope though, and a few people were beginning to stare. "So I remembered he was highly allergic to cumin and like...the ambulance got there, and he went into anaphylatic shock, and right before he lost consciousness he broke up with me and oh my god, Comet, I almost killed him!" Niddy tried to wipe her own tears away, knowing full well she needed a hug. It seemed a bit awkward to hug Comet though, considering she knew he had a crush on her and she'd just told him she was officially single. Niddy didn't know why she was still crying; she'd spent the whole night crying and it still hurt. She hoped Comet wouldn't think she was pathetic or take advantage of her and try to hit on her. But he was a sweet boy; she knew he wouldn't do anything like that. She could hear her heart pounding in her ears, and she finally looked up at Comet with a tear-streamed face. She tried to wipe away the tears, but they just kept on coming. ((That's so sad and hilarious at the same time. XDDD)) .... Majii couldn't help but smile a little bit at Eady's pathetic attempt at beat-boxing, and she had a feeling he was just putting on a show to cheer her up. "Stop!" She said, smacking Eady upside the head with her violin bow. Eady flinched a bit and tickled Majii in the side, making her wince in pain. There was a particularly bad bruise there, and and sort of touch ached like mad. "Dang, are you really that ticklish?" Eady asked, a remorseful expression on his face. Majii shrugged in reply. It wasn't just the pain that bothered her, it was being touched at all. The bell suddenly rang, Mr. Prestwick went to the hall to handle traffic, and Majii set right to packing up her instrument, face completely red. "You alright?" Majii ignored the question, refusing to look her friend in the eye until he put his hand on her shoulder. "Yeah...yeah, I'm just a bit...off today is all. Didn't get much sleep." Majii replied. Well, that wasn't a lie, but she was being spectacularly vague. Eady was still visibly concerned. "Well...see you in third, chick." Eady replied. "Don't be so sad by then; you're always sad." Majii smiled weakly, hesitantly accepting a hug goodbye from Eady. From over her friend's shoulder, she caught Harrison in the doorway and abruptly let go of Eady, collecting her things and trying to suppress her shaking. Eady shot Harrison a dirty look before pretending to read a poster on the wall. "You weren't in the auditorium this morning." Harrison said flatly, frowning at Majii. She glanced to the side, knowing Harrison didn't her messing with his routine. "It was locked..." She said in a near whisper, knowing any explanation meant nothing to Harrison. He grabbed her arm roughly and jerked her into the hall with him. "Bye..." Majii muttered to Raian before she was out of the classroom. |

Comet's one eye widened with worry as he saw the tears on Nydia's face. It was like a stab to his heart, to see her crying...and he wanted more than anything to give her a hug, but he knew she would probably think he was trying to make a move on her or skmething. Not knowing what else to do, he gently put a hand on her shoulder. "Now, don't cry..." he said quietly. "Please don't blame yourself for that...it's a mistake anyone could make, really..." He knew he'd done something like that before. He still owed Rellik three thousand dollars for it too. "Surely he'll understand once he can speak to you with a sensible state of mind." And if not, he was a bad person. Not that he'd tell Niddy that much. He didn't like her boyfriend much anyway, but maybe that was just the jealousy talking. He heard the school bell ring, but he ignored it. There was no sense in rushing into the building while the girl he fawned over was left crying in the courtyard. --- Raian glared at the boy Majii was with all the way out into the hall. He didn't hold any reservation in his glare--he knew, just by looking at the two of them, that the boy had something to do with that poor girl's condition. He pondered prying just what happened out of her before judging how heavy a beating the boy deserved, but part of him wanted to jump on the kid and beat him to a pulp right then and there. He already figured, Majii had a black eye, so why not give the boy two? Oh, and a broken nose would look good on him too... He could catch him in a dark alley and make him never want to facethat girl again. He didn't tolerate the sight of a girl letting herself be used like that. To let a boy hit her...It unnerved him. He remembered his darling older sister in his hometown, drowned in a lake by her boyfriend when he was twelve...and it had all started then, too, with her coming home with a black eye. He would have to find out just what happened. Maybe then he could find out where her boy lived. Then he could confront him. He just had to make sure he didn't wait until it was too late. But at least he knew now. No one would be that forceful with a girl like that for no good reason, right? And no girl would lie about an injury unless someone close to her was the cause, he presumed. ((DUN DUN DUN background twist to make Raian hate Harrison mooooar~)) |

A Pimp Named Slickback

Nydia could no longer help herself, staring up at Comet and the pitiful look in his eye. She hugged him tightly, sobbing uncontrollably into his chest. What was she doing? She'd just talked to this boy the day before! But she couldn't let any of her friends on the squad know, it was just too humiliating. Comet was the only one who would understand how she could let Cole Baxter, one of the most sought after boys in the school go. Niddy looked over at everyone storming the side door, loosening her grip on Comet only slightly. She froze when she saw Charice Dewberry approaching with a smug look on her face. Charice and Cole were very close friends, so when Charice asked Cole to be her running mate, Cole accepted immediately. Even though Niddy knew Cole would always be completely faithful to her, it still made her extremely jealous. Niddy was still his official date (at least she was before last night), but if Charice and Cole won, she would be the one seething while her boyfriend danced with someone else. Charice was prettier than her, more popular, and more talented. It wouldn't be long before Charice and Cole were an item now that he'd kicked her to the curb. "Hey hobbit," Charice greeted sourly, "Looks like you move on real quick like. I suppose you won't mind when Cole takes me to prom instead of you." Niddy swallowed hard, trying to come up with a retort, but failing miserably. By the time she trying to sort out all the awful things she could say about Charice's mother, the show choir president was already gone. "Dammit...I thought being on the squad and dating Cole would make me popular but..." Niddy tried to wipe away the last of her tears. "Everyone still hates me as much as they did in middle school. I'm so stupid..." Niddy hoped with all her heart that Comet was right, and Cole would take back what he said. "I...gotta go to first..." .... By third block, it seemed the entire school knew five different theories about how she lost her virginity. One rumor stated that she and Harrison had been hooking up in the auditorium every morning, and that Majii's promiscuity was old news. Another nastier one was going around that she was whoring herself out because her father was laid off. The falseness of the rumors aside, every whisper of her name brought on the truth that she was nothing more than a dirty slut who had sex on school grounds. "So bitch, what are you gonna name your bastard child? I thought you were the president of the celibacy club; everybody thought you didn't put out." Nydia spat as she walked into class. Majii wasn't fooled though, she could see the hurt behind Niddy's eyes and knew that she was only insulting her to make herself feel better about losing the most sexy-fine boy in school. "I'm not pregnant, dwarf, now keep that weird beak that you use to crack walnuts out of my ass." Majii replied, staring down at the floor. She really wanted nothing more than to grab that blond bitch by her perky little boobs and throw her down a flight of stairs. She looked around quickly, making sure Mr. Prestwick was still in the hall before unwrapping a piece of Stride mystery gum and popping it in her mouth. "Hey, Majii..." Sylvia whispered, leaning over to Majii's desk. "Is it true that you-" "No!" Majii shouted. "None of its true, it's all bullshit! Leave me the fuck alone about it!" The bell rang, and Mr. Prestwick closed the door behind him. "That would be detention today for yesterday's offense, detention next week Monday for language, and another detention for the gum. Don't deny it, walk of shame." Mr Prestwick commanded. Majii glared up at her teacher, rising from her seat and doing everything in her power to spit out her gum with attitude. "Shaaame!" jeered her classmates, a bit more enthusiastically than they would normally. All of them were hypocrites, Majii thought, it wasn't like they were pure as the driven snow. But thinking badly of them didn't change the fact that she was still a whore. Edited by SweetColleen, Jun 1 2011, 01:15 AM.
