Once the training thread's done, we could use this board for other projects. I know Techno's got that PKB thing going, but... there's something else I think is quite pressing. No one seems to be able to agree on firing rates. (It's important, because it'll have a lot to do with FA and stuff.) I've gotten some results for crossbowmen by using Fraps and counting frames (which are on my comp so I can't access them just now), and they seem to agree with my stopwatch times, as well as being less troublesome and less subject to human error. I thought if we collected 30-second clips of us shooting, bow and crossbow, with and without Booster, Fast weapon speed, and FA, we'd be able to determine all these firing rates quite accurately. For good measure, we could also time Strafe (is it faster after all??) and PKB. There's a problem with this though, which is... video files are big. There should be some way to get around that, but I dunno... Right, so if you're going to film and collect results yourself, here's how. 1. First thing to do is simple - just get a 30-second clip of yourself shooting whatever you're timing. (If you're timing several things, film a clip of each.) 2. Find your clip, and view it with anything that shows time in centiseconds and can be paused (I used Windows Movie Maker because it lets you view one frame at a time, but WMP works fine; it just requires some fancy mousework to get to the right frame). 3. Skip to the frame when you fire your first shot (when the red mastery flare first appears), and record the time. Ex: 2.54 seconds. 4. Find every such "shooting" frame (if the mastery flare appears in 2 consecutive frames, obviously they're the same shot so only record the first) and record the time of each (if you have FA, also record whether the shot you just fired was FA or not). Ex: 2.54 3.25, FA 3.83 4.47 5.23, FA 5. Go through the times, and subtract each time from the next. This'll tell you how long each shot took. Ex: (3.25-2.54=)0.71 (3.83-3.25=)0.57, FA 0.67 0.76, FA 6. Average all the times. This gives you the shooting time in seconds. Get it to as many decimal places as you can; ideally, save it to your calculator's memory or something. 7. Divide 60÷(what you got). This is your result in shots/minute. Ex: (say I got 0.69 for my average in #6) 60÷0.69 = 86.95 shots per minute Complicated, I know, bear with me here >< |

You'd probably need to delete this one, add the PKB one, and then re-add this one >.> Oh and I don't have access to Fraps right now. Hopefully in a week I will. Also, we can host the videos...but that would take awhile... |

I don't have fraps and I don't think I ever will, but I would be happy to have some other people film me. I am a Fa-less sniper by the way. |

ANother idea, if someone has a good music program, we could actuall measure from the peak of the sound of a skill, to the next peak. That would actually give us the exact time in miliseconds of the shot. Problem is, I don't have a program like that. |

http://www.adobe.com/products/soundbooth/ I found a program that will work, but I don't have it though. Even though if I'd have it I can't record sound with fraps, because I don't have an onboard microphone. |

Can't Fraps record sound? If it can't, sndrec should work fine, and most every computer has it. EDIT: and this was in a list of open-source software I have in my bookmarks. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ PS Gfreak, you know that you can make it so Invision doesn't resize your avatar, right? o_O |

Fraps can actually record sound, but I don't got an onboard microphone. *stupid motherboard* I have to get an external one for the sound recording but I don't want to do all that trouble. |

eh..............im not a fan of videoing myself but if u pointed me in the direction of some tutorial of how to do it i might be able to record. and not 100% sure but i belive megaupload can be a way around video size, i do have account on there, but i never fully checked it out but i know i would have to pay some money minmum five bucks if not more. |

And about YouTube. It reduces quality, right? That shouldn't be an issue as long as they leave the frame rate alone. But YT doesn't display centiseconds... you'd have to download it and view it with something else. |
