General Name: Krojval

Intelligence: Semi-Sentient, non-industrial

Physical Data

Average Height: 3-3.5 meters

Average Weight: 300-500 kg

Body Type: Insectoid, mantid-like

Physical Description:In many ways, physical characteristics were very similar to Earth mantid insects, however, rather than 6 limbs, they possessed 8, the rear four having 2 joints and ending in a broad, flat pad which provided a stable base for their large abdominal structure. The upper pair of forward limbs were large and heavily built, with large claws at the end for grasping and when closed, bludgeoning. The lower pair ended in similar claws, but were built for finer tasks such as manipulation. The head consisted of a pair of massively oversized compound eyes and large slicing mandibles which were capable of penetrating light armor and even decapitating a victim. The abdominal structure is connected to the forward portion by a highly flexible joint, allowing it to curl forward and even reach eye level. At its end is a large stinger-like structure, which was used both to inject a paralyzing venom, and a more sinister payload. Much like Ichneumon wasps of Earth, it was also an ovipositor, designed to place an egg near the victim's brain, where it would then hatch and the larva would take control of the host. Despite the presence of a complex hive system, every female individual possessed a fully functioning example. The difference between queen and non queen individuals was simply that non queen eggs would never mature past the larval phase. However, the fact that larvae could take control of a host, and were telepathicall connected to the queen meant that they could be exploited as spies. First simply to acquire more hosts, and then later when the Sovol discovered them, to break open fortified installations for attack. If the egg laid in a host came from a hive's queen, it would begin in the same manner, as a controlling parasite, but within weeks it would begin to rapidly grow, first devouring the upper brain before burrowing its way into the abdominal cavity where it would proceed to feed off of a host's internal organs, eventually hollowing out the thoracic and abdominal cavities. After approximately a week of growth, during which the parasite replaces the function of the organs it has consumed, the newly formed imago emerges from the host, decapitating it before emerging out of the upper torso, a smaller version of a full adult
