The First Minister's office sends an official telegram to Byronmandy: "Secretary of State Samuel Adair: We welcome the invitation to Byronmandy for discussions on commerce and security. North Chicanan is preparing for upcoming council elections in the recently established Northern Isle, hence the delay in responding to the invitation, but shall send a delegration led by State Minister Jason O'Riell before the end of the week. We look forward to building new and long-lasting relations with our friends in the Baradoz region even as we continue to strive towards excellence throughout the NS world. Warmest regards, Helene Aremstrang First Minister of the Dominion of North Chicanan" Meanwhile, the official ten-person delegation prepares for their trip to Davidor, led by senior Chicanan Social Democrat and Union-Progressive leaders, with both State Minister O'Riell (as well as official Foreign Affairs Minister Ashlan Wyatt) and Stability Minister Evan Jaihalason leading the small delegation to Byronmandy. |

The Secretary of state stood and looked toward the leaders of Darjistand and the Great Finnish Reich, "I wish to thank you all for coming here so that we could work together and agree on subjects that would mutually benefit all of us. My undersecretary, Archilias, will show you back to your motorcades. I hope you all excuse me, as I have to prepare for the arrival of the North Chicanan delegation." With that he walked off, and Archilias stood to show them the way out. |

Al-Nezee news reports: King Dizhwar arrived back in Darjistan this afternoon, where he immediately went to his favorite restaurant in downtown Buraydah "Sheeza" for lunch. On the menu, his favorite dish: curried lamb. He met with supporters who had gathered around the restaurant after the meal and he spoke a little on his recent trip to Davidor in Byronmandy, "Our economic future looks bright as we were able to work out a lucrative trade agreement with both Byronmandy, and the Great Finnish Reich." the King spoke with great optimism. He also suggested they keep an eye on the news, that a special announcement was pending, something he believed they would find quite agreeable. |

One would think a flight from St. John's to Davidor would be uneventful but for Jason O'Riell and the members of the Northern delegation, the pressure was on to keep the state just above the fray in the region. While North Chicanan was well situated away from the problems in Kuwait both the President and First Minister viewed the invite from Byronmandy with surprise and caution, as the state had avoided any international entanglements in the past. Of course, the state had hoped it's sporting policy would be the backbone of international affairs but President Fillweed knew footy action would not keep the states in the region from pursuing the islands. O'Riell was aware of First Minister Aremstrang's late call to push Byronmandy towards brokering a stalemate in the war of words between Monaco-Ville-Nice and the United Provinces, while both she and the younger minister were fully aware the topic may not even come up in discussion. What would was still up in the air - Byronmandy had worked out agreements with states over trade and resources and unless poker chips were needed in Andorrana, there wasn't much the Northerners would be willing to part with on trade talks. Further, they knew they had a bit of a cushion with Celatoria to their southern flank, so any push for military alliances could be weakened due to the state's position. O'Riell fully doubted the issue would be about getting North Chicanan to fully integrate the state, since the French demands for independence came from a very small group that desired more to oust Coast District from being a political unit. The weird structure of peace had given the state the needed stability to become fully functioning again and French Chicanans were not eager to start war again. "Could it be," O'Riell suggested to Agriculture and Fisheries Vice-Minister Anabiel Quallina, "about water access? There is no set boundaries between the Eastern Isle and the protectorate of Denmark-Norway." Quiallina scoffed at the idea, but the issue also rankled her nerves. The North and South districts were beginning to develop fisheries while industry hoped for oil reserves along the sliver of land the Capital district controlled. The Cabinet had already quarreled over how to deal with both fish and oil even while staring at the international boundary and she, like O'Riell, expected the topic to be more about links between the states on that resource. But North Chicanan was not really all that willing to part with a possible rich harvest of resources freely. Like the rest of the delegation no one knew just what Byronmandy wanted or expected North Chicanan to contribute to Baradoz topics. As the delegation arrived at the hosting site in Davidor, the ten-strong front filed out, passing the delegation from Darjistan. O'Riell was a fan of the dress for the King but was more confused by what deal the two states could have struck, seeing as Byronmandy has scoffed in the past towards absolute monarchs. The Northern delegation passed the Great Finnish Reich group next, and all ten members wondered just what Fillweed had gotten them into as they entered the well-polished offices of the Secretary of State, who seemed eager to discuss all sorts of issues. Jason O'Riell, in the hustle and bustle of the Byronmandy staff cleaning up from the lunch set by the staff, sent a text to Helene Aremstrang. Aremstrang was humored they started with just food and held off on discussions on issues between the state. She was disappointed the topic of Kuwait wasn't appearing on the agenda, and let the President know that talks were just beginning. Then faked caring about Fillweed's newest pet project in Himara County. Jason, meanwhile, tried to think of what could be up for discussion. He stuck by water rights over Denmark-Norway's ocean boundary but otherwise he drew a blank. |

OOC: Sorry NC, but I'm going to be gone until Monday most likely. I'll be sure to post as soon as I get back, but if we could pause the talks while I'm gone that'd be great. P.S.- I think I have some good ideas of what we could talk about... |

Helene got an urgent call from Jason O'Riell, her State Minister, while in the middle of a Cabinet meeting. Obviously hopeful for news from Byronmandy, she allowed the President of the Cabinet, Social Democrat Secretary-General Elais Hounson, to take over the meeting while she and an aid went to her office. "Jason, how nice of you to to call. Good news or bad?" "No news.' "..." "M'am, I'm sorry, but Byronmandy has been shifting focus to dealings with Monaco-Ville-Nice. Our official meetings have been rescheduled five times over the weekend and while we expect to have a meeting tonight with someone from Government, we've heard word that Secretary Adair may have left Davidor to meet with United Province officials again." "You have got to be kidding." "M'am, you know I couldn't come up with a lie this boring." Helene paused for a moment. She very much considered ordering the delegation home with a curt word of thanks to Byronmandy for their hospitality and the "vacation" her team got. But that would only help the Conservatives who were trying to show the government was out of touch with the region. And the last thing she needed was the blues in the minority harping on forcing the state to make up agreements just to show relevance. "Let me get in touch with Adair and get the meeting properly set. It would be impolite for any respected official to ignore his invited guests and we know he's interested in something with North Chicanan." "Yes m'am. We will be at the Davidor Center for the rest of the day. We're supposed to meet with Adair officially around seven tonight." "That's fine. However, if no meetings occur tonight, you are on orders to bring the delegation home. I'll deal with the press." "Yes m'am." Helene sighed as she hung up. She considered her options of playing the field but was too unsure about Monaco-Ville-Nice and the moves by the monarchies of the region to align. Whether she liked it or not, she may need Byronmandy as much as they think they needed the Northerners. She checked with her secretary contacted the pilot team that went with her staff to Davidor, then placed a call back to Davidor and asked to speak with Secretary Adair directly. She waited for his secretary to retrieve him, and tried to figure out how to get the Northern-Byronmandy talks back in order. |

(OOC: Sorry for the long wait, NC. Didn’t mean to keep you waiting) IC: Secretary Adair was not having one of his best days. After he had worked so hard with establishing economic relations with Darjistan and GFR, it looks as though those agreements will mean nothing. He had been so busy this past weekend that he had not been able to proceed with the talks with NC as he had planned. Right now he finally had some time to focus on North Chicanan and their role in the region. He walked down a hallway, with his undersecretary struggling to keep up with his every step, toward the room where the Northern diplomats were waiting. When he arrived, he knocked twice on the door before entering. “I’m sorry for the wait ladies and gentlemen.” He said as he walked in a motioned for the other to take their seats as he sat down. It felt good to finally sit down. He had been running back and forth through this building for what seemed like days. “I’m sure that you’re aware of the recent happenings in the region, and I seem to have caught a god awful cold at the wrong time.” he said as he wiped his nose. “My president has some business to attend to in the SUP and now I’ve been left with all his stuff he was supposed to get done earlier. This building has been quite the madhouse as of late, and for that I apologize.” He paused for a few moments to get his bearings and decide on what he was to say next. “Right now, two alliances are beginning to take form in the region. There is the one led by MVN that is meant for their fellow puppet dictators, and there is one that will be formed between Byronmandy, the SUP and Veomo. I guess you could say that we will act as a sort of “counter weight” against the imperial threat coming out of Alexandria. In the coming weeks, it will be hard for any nation to stay neutral. Nearly everyone will have to pick sides. Even North Chicanan will find it challenging to stay completely isolated if that is your intent. I was hoping, with you being one of the region’s most developed democracies, that you would be more sympathetic to our cause….But perhaps you are; I’m really not sure on the exact foreign policy of NC as of this point. If you are looking to protect individual rights abroad, and further the spread of anti-totalitarianism, I wish to assure you that you would be a welcome addition to our new alliance, even if your military is of a rather small size. Right now, we can use all the allies we can get, so if you are interested, I believe that you might want to come to the talks in Kasteel De Haar. Even if you are unsure of joining an alliance quite yet, I suggest that you merely come as an observer. I’m sure no one would mind having another guest.” Secretary Adair leaned back in his chair and thought over something he had been told by the president in an earlier meeting. He believed in North Chicanan, and thought they would appreciate what he was about to say: “I don’t know if you’ve noticed, as it hasn’t quite made international headlines yet, but Byronmandy has given our colony Lagos it’s independence. It was a relic of our past glory days and was causing us to spend a ridiculous amount of money stationing troops there. We are facing a similar situation in Denmark-Norway. It is a wonderful place, but the Republic is no longer in need of controlling it. Instead of just giving it it’s independence, and having to risk it falling into the hands of the GFR to the north, we are interested in just giving it to a friendly nation instead. My superiors do not want to entirely get rid of the Byronmadian presence in the area, so we are intent on keeping Norway for ourselves. I’m explaining all of this because I’d like to see if North Chicanan is interested in acquiring Denmark. Whoever controls Denmark has under their jurisdiction, the sole entrance and exit from the Baltic. The Danish Islands, and the city of Copenhagen have become economic powerhouses over the years because of this reason. The nation that controls this strategic point is sure to take all the economic benefits. The recent situations and tensions with MVN have caused us to shift our attention to other places, and Denmark has lost it’s importance to us. My President was the one who personally thought you would be a perfect nation to take in Denmark because of your great economy and ability to care for former Byronmadian citizens.” With that said he sat back and looked at the Northern diplomats, who had been eagerly listening the entire time. “I am curious as to what you think of this possibility.” |
