The rising sun makes long shadows over the military complex on the limits of Svaor District, an official helicopter prepares to land, at the helipad five high rank officers of the Grand Ducal Army are waiting. Meanwhile at Baru Hurezumsa, a convoy leaves the Ducal Palace, in it the Grand Duke of Veomo prepares to give the most important speech of his so far short reign. It seemed more, but it had been only a few months since he was crowned Grand Duke of Veomo, after his father death, and now it all had come to this very moment... During the reign of his father, the relations between the Grand Duchy and its neighbor Ukraine had been on constant deterioration, despite the efforts of Grand Duke Lemik to achieve a solution peacefully. After His Royal Highness death, the situation came to a critical point as Ukraine begun to mobilize its military forces... The convoy arrives at the Parliament Building, from the third car, of the five that composed the convoy, an early thirties men step down. It was time. The Grand Duke Kahv Eirm walks into the building were the parliament was currently holding an extraordinary meeting at his request.
At the Svaor Military Complex, home of the 2nd Division of the Grand Ducal Army, six men were gathered in conclave, waiting for a phone call... |

The members of the parliament were all there, both chambers gathered, also the press, mostly national, but one or two of the regional broadcasting agencies were also present. The last emergency meeting of both chambers of the parliament happened over 30 years ago, called upon by HRH Lemik, father of the current Grand Duke, that time as this the international scenario was a troubled one. The figure of the Grand Duke enters the assembly hall from one of the side doors, silence is immediate. As HRH Kahv Eirm, Grand Duke of Veomo takes his place at the pulpit, His Lordship, Premier Gustav Kendar announces the opening of the session, giving then the word to HRH. "Esteemed members of both chambers, beloved people of Veomo, it is heavy hearted that I call this meeting. The situation in Middle East is a difficult one, but nearer to our borders, another threat reveals itself. For the last few weeks, the ukranians have been mobilizing their troops towards our borders. As a counter measure I ordered the 2nd Division to stand on high alert." He makes a pause and almost every soul on that room already knew what was to come next. "As it is of public knowledge, the relations with our neighbor have been deteriorating on the past year, my father tried to solve it peacefully, but found no common ground. Excuses were made, and lies were told by the ukranian government, they threatens our beloved nation, I say we shall answer!" Almost everyone in the room applauds the Grand Duke position, one thing no veomese could ever be accused of was of lack of patriotism. As silence once again filled the room the Grand Duke continued. "As I speak, the appropriate measures are being enforced, I hereby declare that the Grand Duchy of Veomo is from this moment at war with Ukraine. As such I decree Martial Law to be enforced in the totality of the Veomese territory. That's all." His Royal Highness leaves the room filled with the standing ovation received after his speech while Premier Gustav tries to call the attendants to calm. The Grand Duke enters at the premier's office and waits for him to join him, already there is Marshal Markum Iubek, the Minister of Defense, whom bows as the monarch arrives. "It is done." are the only words the Grand Duke speaks to the Minister of Defense. |

The Government of Celatoria believes the current action taken by the Grand Duchy of Veomo to be legitimately justified and offers military support against Ukraine if necessary and requested. The Government of Celatoria will drop this support if the actions of Veomo are at any time judged to be unjustified or excessive. |

Alliance Proposal of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces ~Concerning the war between the Grand Duchy of Veomo and Ukraine The government of the Seven United Provinces fully supports the declaration of war by the Grand Duchy of Veomo. In our opinion the Ukranian leaders were given too much space for a too long period to reign terror on their citizens and neighbours. Therefore the Republic of the Seven United Provinces proposes a military partnership to the Grand Duchy of Veomo which has always been a good neighbour and friend. However, due to our small and outdated military system we have no troops to offer. What we can offer is full military access to our territory, and help with setting up supply lines for the Veoman troops. Our excellent strategic position on the map will help the Veoman army to surround the Ukraine and finish the war as quick as possible. If the government of Veomo accepts our military alliance proposal we open our borders immediately and set up a camp next to the Ukranian border near Kiev. We will make sure that this camp receives a continuous supply of goods. |

The Republic of Byronmandy is pleased that two neighbors such as the Seven United Provinces and Veomo can support each other. The President of Byronmandy, Roger Philippe, has said that he belives Veomo will easily take control of the rest of Ukraine, and he has said that it is in the region's best interest that any military action is done decisively and with as few casualties as possible. Therefore Byronmandy is willing to provide air and naval support to the Grand Duchy of Veomo against Ukraine if it is so desired. We have the ability to have B-2s, F-117s, and B-52s above Kiev in a minimal amount of time, and if needed we are willing to dispatch a handful of navy destroyers and missile cruisers into the black sea. The government in Allentown hopes that Byronmandy, SUP and Veomo can work together again in the future. The possible alliance between SUP and Veomo would be more than welcomed by the Republic. The president also recently said that since the middle eastern dictators appear to be creating an alliance, It would be wise for the leaders of the righteous and free world to do the same. Byronmandy is proposing that soon the leaders of our three nations come together for talks to conclude with the creation of a new military alliance in Baradoz. Byronmandy already has many ideas on what this said treaty would include, and is curious to hear if any of you are interested. Also if either of you would like to host such a conference, that would be wonderful. (OOC: FYI, I'm going to be gone until Monday or Tuesday, but I'll be sure to respond after I return) |

~Muiderslot, Meeting Government Meeting of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces, Dinnertime; 'Welcome all of you at this beautiful castle. I invited you to hear your professional opinions on the world affairs, for these are risky but promising times. However let us first raise our glass and drink for our nation and its people'. After stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten had spoken everyone called 'LANG LEVE DE REPUBLIEK!' and drank. Many servants entered the room carrying silver plates with the best food available in the nation. As the dignitaries were enjoying their meal the stadhouder started with the first topic on his agenda. 'Gentlemen, as you all might know our Ministry of Defense proposed a full military alliance to the Grand Duchy of Veomo, what are your views on the matter?' A silence fell and everyone was waiting for another to start speaking, the stadhouder noticed it and cleverly asked 'Jan Pieterszoon Coen, you are the commanding general of our army, can you share your view on the subject with us?' The general cleared his throat and started speaking. 'Well sir, I think it is the right thing to do. However, the future will teach us if it is the smartest thing either. The Grand Duchy of Veomo has always been an excellent neighbour sharing our views on many subjects, that is why we should support them. I would have sent a division or two if we had them, however an army costs money which the government is not willing to spend' The minister of finance became agitated by this last remark and said 'Why do you want a big army? Do you believe that we, a country of our size, can ever win a fight against one of the giants in the world? Can you do math, or did you only go to the army academy?' The stadhouder raised his hands and said 'Please gentleman, there are fights enough abroad let us keep things peaceful at home. I have to agree with the general on this matter. We do need to offer aid to a friend, and we need to raise the defense budget in order to expand the military. The world is not a safe place anymore. That is why we need a minister of finance to do the math, and a general to lead the army.' The minister of foreign affairs, a man with no sympathy for the military what so ever, was much more interested in the proposal of the Republic of Byronmandy. 'What will our reaction be to Byronmandy? Because they are so far away we do not know them very good. However, they had our back in the Kuwait debacle and seem to share our view on freedom and self-determination. Plus, as they stated themselves, a wave of collaboration is going through the middle east which can definitely endanger us if we fail to organize ourselves.' The word was out, the thing everyone had thought of but nobody dared to say. The middle east being better organized than the so-called modern world, what a deception. The stadhouder thought for a moment while drinking his beer. After a while he said 'Very well, let us invite envoys of the Republic of Byrondmandy and the Grand Duchy of Veomo to Kasteel de Haar for alliance negotiations reaching beyond the war with Ukraine. Let the ministry of foreign affairs sent the word out. Oh, and if other nations are interested welcome them with open arms' The dinner became a modest party which lasted till the small hours. Because there seemed to be a glimpse of hope on the horizon. |

First Minister Helene Aermestrang and President Jason Fillweed discuss matters of the region while on a bus trip from Argon County to Apollon County. The Social Dems are polling well in the Northern Isle District, so foreign policy can finally be breached. Jason finally speaks after listening to Helene's secretary explain the day's events. "Wait a minute" "I have to repeat it?" "No...so Veemmo..." "No sir, Veomo." "Oh, so Veomo declared war on the Ukraine? For mobilizing troops?" "Apparently it's been viewed as aggressive action. The Veomese and the Ukrainians don't get along." "And the United Provinces and Byronmandy approve of Veomo invading and conquering the Ukraine?" "Apparently so." "With military alliances to boot." "I see you've caught up there Jason." "So...why now?" "It seems the issues in Kuwait are being used to some extent as a means of promoting self determination." "...ah, what the French Chicanans want to hear. Protests yet in the region?" "Actually Far West and Northwest Districts seem noplused about the whole issue. Their annoyance is still the formation of the Coast District, since the St. Marc's Accord preserves their autonomy." "That's a good thing. So, does this become an issue?" "Hardly. Our location makes the Northern forces useless in the debate and I won't be surprised if Kyiv falls before the end of the week. Veomo would most certainly control the whole region shortly with the dual support of their friends in the Provinces and Byronmandy." "Suggestions then, First Minister?" "The obvious suggestion is to wait and see how the battle finishes. The party supports the actions if the Ukraine was as aggressive as reports indicate from Veomo but without diplomatic channels I'm afraid we're still a bit blind." "Well, we need some embassies then." "...yes. But more importantly, It's probably fine for North Chicanan to stay removed from affairs in the region at the moment. The Kuwait issue has a greater risk of destability due to verbal sparring between Monaco-Ville-Nice and the United Provinces than the Ukraine. However, we must keep an eye on atrocities committed in the war, and if Veomo makes any moves outside the norms of the Baradoz concept of war." "And do we know what those norms are?" "..." "Great. You realize the Conservatives will eat us up if we don't start having a more active foreign policy." "Of course. I trust Jase and the delegation in Byronmandy will do wonders for the Social Dems. For now, though, I say the state allows Veomo to go through the course of action but stays interested in the final repercussion." |

Alexandria- Monaco-Ville-Nice: Queen Cleopatra sat atop her throne in the massive hall that was the throne room. Aides knelt before her and read issues from around the country and region and waited for her decisions. Once Cleopatra would give a decision the aide that proposed it would rush out of the road and see that her decision was implemented. Some days it was a near endless stream of aides as was the case today. The Queen however was short tempered today perhaps from the Pharaohs absence or perhaps because she was up all night entertaining members of the Royal Court. One particularly skinny, ugly, and pale aide knelt before the Queen. He trembled slightly as he spoke and he kept his head low daring not to make eye contact with the Queen. "And...... Ummmm....... The proposed increased irrigation..... Of the ummmm.... Lower Nile." The Queen looked around clearly disinterested, clearly wanting to be somewhere else, and clearly annoyed with this unfortunate aide. Finally her eyes fixated on the trembling man who could feel her gaze and immediately stopped speaking. The Queen then said in a harsh tone. "I can't stand the sound of your voice. I swear if you don't stop talking and get your stench away from me I will have you thrown in the Nile and I will make sure you can't swim. Leave! Your proposal is denied! The Aide nearly feel over himself making for the exit. Entering the throne room and cutting the line of aides was Foreign Minister Loukas who quickly made his way before Cleopatra. "Yes Loukas?" The Queen said. "Your Royal Highness. A war has begun among the Grand Duchy of Veomo and the Ukraine." The Queen looked at a handmaiden exasperated. "Hate Ukrainians. Several of the Pharaohs mistresses are Ukrainian. Practically barbarians, the women are pretty though but the men sit around drinking all day. Horrible place it seems all around." The Foreign Minister looked around feeling slightly awkward and the proceeded. "You see it's only of importance because the Republic of the Seven United Provinces and the Republic of Byronmandy have gotten involved. There are rumors they may have even offered a proposed alliance to the Grand Duchy. The Grand Duchy has not officially declined or accepted and hasn't replied yet. This could make this more than a little war between neighbors." The Queen seemed deep in thought. "Well the Duchy has yet to respond to anyone so why don't we offer assistance as well? We won't attache strings like the Republics have. Tell the Grand Duke we offer to let them borrow an Imperial Air Corps division to give there men air support. Offer it as a friendly proposal from one monarch to another." The Foreign Minister bowed and left to get to his task. The Queen then had another aide kneel before her who began speaking. The Queen looked very annoyed and put her head in her hands. "I'm done!" The Queen then rose and excited the throne room followed by her handmaidens. |

Premier Gustav finally manage to calm the members of the parliament long enough to officially conclude the session. He then leaves the assembly hall only to meet his senior assistant waiting for him at the hallway. "M'Lord Premier we have received words of support from Celatoria and military assistance proposals from both the Republic of Byronmandy and SUP.” informs the senior assistant as he starts walking along with the Premier, handing him a couple of portfolios. “They even propose some form of military alliance.” Added the assistant. “I see, give me those” replied the prime minister. “I’ll make sure His Royal Highness takes a look to them.” Both of them stopped at the door of the Premier’s Office. “Make sure to bring all new information as they arrive.” Said at last the Premier before getting a bow in response and the assistant left, a storm seemed to be gathering… As Premier Gustav enters his office, HRH Kahv Eirm was at the phone and makes a slight gesture to the Premier whom quietly seated on one of the comfy armchairs that furniture the room. HRH hangs the phone. “My good friend Gustav. What news you bring me?” “M’Lord, we have received a word of support from the United Kingdom of Celatoria” said the Premier handing over a typed transcription of the message received from Celatoria. “A warm support, with a clear exit way” muttered the Grand Duke more to himself than anything else, while closing the folio and placing it over the table. “Also the Republic of the Seven United Provinces extends a hand to us on this difficult moment” – Added the Premier while handing over a thicker folio. “They propose us a military partnership. Unfortunately they cannot assist us with military personnel, but perhaps what they propose if far better than that.” To this last comment the Grand Duke nods, while passing on the file to Marshal Markum. “This can be indeed a good card to play M’Lord” added the minister of defense. “Thirdly, the Republic of Byronmandy…” begins the Premier. But he limits to hand over the file to the monarch. “I see…” says the young monarch while reading the lines of the file…”A military alliance of the west they say… What do you think Markum?” “Well Sir, I believe we can at least hear what they have to say on the matter, though I don’t think it would be prudent to sign anything right now” And as if it was a charm of some sort, the door was knocked. The Premier stepped outside for a minute or two, and returned with another handful of files. One in particular was of great interest. “What says the southern nations, my dear Gustav?” asks Grand Duke Kahv. “M’Lord, Her Majesty, Lady Cleopatra offers the empire assistance on this matter” Replies an almost shivering premier. A slight glance between the Grand Duke and the Minister of Defense was enough. It was necessary to be careful, for it was thin ice over what the Grand Duchy could be walking on. His Royal Highness takes a deep breath before saying: “Send a dispatch to King Edward, thanking his support, and assuring him that we shall do our best to carry this matter as quickly and with the fewer casualties as possible.” He waited while Premier’s pen was dancing over the paper. “To our neighbors of the north, a thank you for they offer of passage through their territory to get over to Kiev quicker, which we gladly accept. Also arrange a meeting with them so we can discuss the details of the agreement” Kahv then addresses to Marshal Markum, “Inform the 1st division to be ready to move on anytime. “To Byronmandy an MVN, send our appreretiatios to the matter, and that a meeting would be of interest to us.” |
