Libya-Monaco-Ville-Nice: Aapep was readying his Mig-35 for the long flight ahead. Working with him was his ground crew trying to hold back the excitement of there first deployment. Indeed the whole airbase was buzzing about there coming deployment to the Grand Duchy to aid in there war against the Ukraine. For Aapep this was the culmination to years of schooling, training, and drills. His Imperial Air Corps Division the 32nd was newly formed by the Imperial Military and had no combat experience save for the squadron leaders. They were young, hungry, and ready for action. Within hours the whole Air Division was in the air en route to the Grand Duchy and to war with the Ukraine.

-Day 6-

--Military Camp near Ukraine Border, SUP--
Colonel Marinov, commander of the 3rd Grand Ducal Army Brigade was briefing his troops. The action would be swift. The 2nd and the 4th Brigades were already in position. The day before they had received news of that Odessa had been taken by the 5th Brigade in a joint action with the Navy, the city didn't presented much of a fight, the Ukrainian troops having being called back to defend the government in Kiev. It had been reports that most of the Ukrainian forces were being gathered around Kiev, but their conditions were deplorable. The generals wanted to strike right away but then HRH had declared a day of truce to the Ukrainian, in the memory of Prince Olav von Habsburg. So they would wait.

--Grand Ducal Air Base at Crimean Peninsula--
Brigadier Vaughn was waiting at the Commander Center of the air base, MVN's air division had already been spotted over the Black Sea, and should be arriving shortly.

"Sir, we have them on the radar" informed the operator
"Good! Give them the directions to the base. They are authorized to land." replied the Brigadier. "Oh and inform the AMXs of the 4th to escort them over here, we don't want them to get lost do we?" Vaughn joked.
the operator laughed and begun to transmit the instructions...

Somewhere over the Black Sea: The sky was literally filled with Imperial Mig-35's and Su-37's of the 32nd Imperial Air Corps Division crossing the Black Sea en route to Veomo. These fighters led the way into Veomo as they were followed by Su-34 fighter-bombers, Su-25's, Tu-160 strategic bombers, and lastly the many An-124's carrying the 32nd Divisions support staff and equipment. The Colonel commanding the lead group of Su-37's heading the division heard a crackle over his radio.

"Imperial Air Corps Division 32....... You are clear for landing. Welcome to the Duchy."

Upon receiving the clearance to land at a Grand Duchy air base the division headed over the border and began there decent to there air base and to there first real action. The pilots and crew were young surely, but they were ready for war. The Grand Duchy now had total air superiority over the Ukraine.

In the News
During today, there has been an explosion of unofficial news from the capital city of the Ukraine, Kiev. Mostly broadcast on video sharing sites, the news is of a massive taking to the streets of the officially non-existent opposition movement, the United Democratic Opposition. This organisation is the newest in a constant series of banned opposition entities that have fought the Goykov regime since the early '90s. Here are some of the transferred footage.

This just in - it would appear that all internet has been deactivated in Ukraine, leaving us without further information. As for the goal of the demonstrators, here's a quote from Dmitri Alexeievich, the supposed leader of UDO:
"With the vast military and police Goykov has had as the instrument of his reign, the democratic opposition has never had a real chance to make a change. Now, however, we hope to greet the forces of Veomo as our liberators and that they will allow us our path to freedom and democracy. With Goykov gone, the Ukraine will be a free, sovereign, and democratic nation, and we will be able to join the great family of nations with our heads held high, knowing that we had fought and died not in vain, but that in the end we were victorious and have attained the democracy and freedom that all men deserve.
Freedom for Ukraine! Goykov is finished!"

Official Kiev has not commented on these news. However, political analysts are offering the explanation that these protests are at least part of the reason for the Ukrainian military to converge in the capitol.

Day 7
--Grand Ducal Air Base at Crimean Peninsula--
The night before, an entire division of the Imperial Air Force had arrived, the Air Base was at it fullest capacity, and now the fuel for all those aircrafts was arriving at the base, after a small trip from the port of Svaor.

Their task was simple, guarantee the air supremacy over Ukrainian territory, while providing support to ground forces.

0600 hours
Everything was ready, at the command center they were only waiting for the authorization.

0615 hours
As the sun rises, at the command center a phone rings.
Lieutenant Brigadier Kóvar takes the call, on the other side a voice said: "Authorization Granted. Begin the deployment"

"It's time fellows. Lets make these birds fly"

The siren sounded, all the pilots went to their aircrafts, soon the skies of Veomo were filled with two entire air force divisions.

--Military Camp at SUP--
Three brigades of the Grand Ducal Army were crossing the border of Ukraine. A few minutes earlier they had received the so waited orders of advance. In the distance they could hear the first air squadrons soaring Ukrainian skies. The armored Brigade, equipped with Challenger 2 tanks had finished to cross the Dnieper river into Ukraine when the firsts jets flew by, a full wing of 314ST fighters of the Grand Ducal Air Force. They would grand some air support to the ground forces.

-- Southern Front --
The three brigades posted on the southern front, after securing Odessa the day before, were ready to head north. Odessa would be secured by the naval forces. Meanwhile the 5th, the 6th and the 8th would push the front line towards north. Early that morning the skies were filled with aircrafts heading towards Kiev, a few blast on the way destroyed some Ukranian bases and defenses. The last Ukrainian line of defense before Kiev, was Mikolayiv, only a few miles ahead.

--HHS Catarina--
After the meeting with the monarchs from the south, the Grand Duke remained a while more on board of the HHS Catarina, with the successful conquest of Odessa, and now the first, and hopefully the final strike against Kiev, HRH Kahv Eirm was confortable enought to leave towards Kasteel de Haar. On the flight deck a V-22 was waiting, the Grand Ducal Seal on its door marked it as part of the Royal Transport Wing of the Grand Ducal Air Force, the smallest wing in the division, was responsible for the transportation of Royal Family Members and Government VIPs, it would be his transportation to Kasteel de Haar in SUP.

KFR News (OOC: Right, you haven't heard of them)

As military action continues in the Ukraine, we have breaking news from the capitol, Kiev. Our reporter on the scene, Hlodvig Urenkóv, is reporting in via satellite from atop of the Gutex Building in downtown Kiev, from what seems to be an escalation of the clash between the Goykov regime and the United Democratic Opposition. Hlodvig, can you hear me?

- Yes, and by now I can tell you that what is happening here is nothing less that an open civil war. The Goykov regime seems to have resorted to using the military against its own citizens, the protesters. The UDO was the party that started the protests, but in the last few days a lot has happened here with people taking to the streets. The crowd has overtaken both the buildings of parliament and government, however the presidential palace remains occupied by President Goykov and is fully barricaded in with tanks guarding it. By this time, the chaos in the streets is overwhelming, as the army tanks continue to fight the civilians. There have been people ran over and entire crowds wiped out by shelling. However, a part of the army has mutinied, and the rebels too have attained tanks and guns, and what we are seeing now is full urban warfare between the two sides. The situation is only made worse by refugees fleeing the invading armies of Veomo and amassing here in Kiev. Here, directly below us, you can see that the people are all armed, and th/

Here the transmission abruptly stopped, and no further news were received from within the Ukraine.

Helene was on break from meetings in Davidor so she called Jason. The First Minister wanted to be updated on the conflict in the Ukraine and while the President was a dimwit, it was wise for her to stay in touch with him rather than waste the time of her Defense Minister who was in the United Provinces.

"So Fillweed, what's been the most recent update."

"Helene, didn't you expect Kyiv to fall in a weekend?"

"Obviously. apparently the Ukrainian forces were more of a bluff and the Veomese were drawn into conflict."

"Well, apparently the conflict has not ended. They have Odessa but the government still control Kyiv."

"How odd. Even with the Provinces and Monaco and San Lumen and Byronmandy and God knows who else sending garrisons?"

"Yep. Also, there appears to be a war within the capital between the government at opposition groups."

"Which won't help the Grand Duke control the Ukraine."

"Of course. The press is still curious as to why we won't support the war."

"Well..."

Actually, at this point Helene was not sure why North Chicanan could support the conflict. If the reports from Neoplanta were the case, the war would have created a messy quagmire in the capital that was fueled by Veomo's decision to respond to an arms build-up.

"Actually Jason, I'm not sure. This is looking like a fake-out by the Ukraine gone wrong, but I'm not sure why Veomo is pressing the advantage. Maybe they wanted the whole land in the first place rather than stop an agressor state?"

"It's looking a bit like it, Helene. what should we do?"

"Well, first we're still neutral on the conflict. I doubt we're going to get any words from Goykov or the opposition so I'll have Lovell try and meet with the Grand Duke while he's in the Provinces and get a concrete answer over what triggered the war and what the desired end result is. If it's to keep the Ukraine weak, that may be fine. Weird, but fine."

"And if it's a land grab? I would not want us supporting an agressor nation."

"Well, we'd be the only state opposed to it and it's probably too late to do anything about it meaningfully. And besides, Denmark is about to become our problem and God knows what her southern neighbors will think about us becoming it's protector."

"...this region has problems."

"Apparently Jason. Apparently. How was the dinner with the Emir and the Regent?"

"Fantastic! Princess Bernice was thrilled by Summer House and jokingly said she'd consider any of the Northern private schools for the Emir to study at."

"Could you imagine if she did?"

"I had that thought."

"Well, at least the state visit was a success (ooc: since Kuwait has fallen off as topic, figured I'd sorta talk about end here quickly). Now onto the Ukraine I guess."

"Make sure Lovell gets that meeting."

"Of course Mr. President."

Grand Ducal Air Base at Crimean Peninsula - Veomo: Air Marshal Africanus sat in his crampt office that he had borrowed from a Colonel in the Grand Ducal Air Force. The Air Base was literally stretched to its capacity having to service both the Grand Ducal Air Force division and the Imperial Air Force Division. The office was much smaller than what the Air Marshal was use to but if that was his biggest complaint about there deployment he was a very happy man. He sat with a smile while going over reports on the combat worthiness of the Ukrainian Air Force. It appeared to Imperial Recon teams that the Ukrainian Air Force has ceased to exist as a cohesive fighting force. In the combined Grand Ducal and Imperial air campaign many Ukrainian planes failed to get off the ground and those that did were quickly overcome by the superior technology and numbers of there opponents. Rather than face certain death many Ukrainian pilots were now defecting to San Lumen or Neoplanta and sitting out the rest of the war. Losses had been light for the Grand Ducal Air Force and the Imperials and had all either been to mechanical problems or SAM batteries fired by Ukrainian defenders.

A Colonel walked in the Air Marshal's office saluting and with news of the strategic bombing campaign now underway against Kiev.

"Sir we have the first reports of the bombing campaign against Ukrainian forces in Kiev."

The Air Marshal looked up at the young Colonel who seem anxious to give the Air Marshal the news.

"Go on Colonel."

The Air Marshal replied.

"Sir we've effectively closed all Ukrainian airports by bombing there runways, we've shut down there major military command centers, we've also begun attacking there front lines to great effect. We've softened them enough that I believe victory should be swift for the Grand Ducal Army."

The Air Marshal nodded his head with a proud smile on his face. He wasn't just proud for himself but he was proud that the rookies of the 32nd had done what they had come here to do. He was proud that his boys had become men.

President Szél sat in his office, looking at reports from the events in the Ukraine. These were difficult times for him, as he had a deep-seated dislike toward war in general, that went hand in hand with Neoplanta's official policies. And with his Foreign Minister in New Amsterdam, it was rather difficult to try and twist diplomatics to serve the cause of ending the war. However, he had with him his Minister of Defence, Tayyip Orhan Kemal, with reports from the field.

"The newest would be that some five antiquated MIGs have crossed into our airspace and gave themselves up, they are now seeking political asylum with us. Our border has been open to civilians, and some 40,000 have came to us as refugees, but these people are military, so we are treating them currently as POW, although we are officially at peace with the Ukraine. As for Kiev and the rest, we can only see planes belonging to Veomo and MVN. Satellite images give us a view of, well, complete chaos in Kiev, with massive fighting all over. We have no clue as to who is who and who is winning. At this time I can only advise that we keep to what we were doing so far: stay out of this horrible mess, and try not to make a disaster out of the refugees." - was the report of Minister Kemal.

"Yes" - the PM, Sultana Kemal-Bach cut in - "the refugees are being stationed and cared for in some twelve main camps as of now, so far we were able to maintain the peace and give them food and shelter and clothes, but if they keep coming like this, I'm not sure."

"This can't drag on for much longer. If there is fighting in Kiev, that means Goykov hasn't defeated his opposition yet. If the chaos isn't too great, the whole thing could end as soon as the invading troops reach Kiev." - said the President.

"No, sir, I do believe you're wrong." - Kemal said. - "Here Veomo would be a fool to directly invade Kiev, as with the disorganised and chaotic fighting there, they could not control anything, they would only be adding to the chaos. If they are going to treat this situation with military sense, they will leave Kiev to sort itself out, and only then invade. Simply put, sir, on a battlefield there can be only two types of people: friend or foe. In a real battle, you just can't go through a territory and find out who's who as you go. That only leads to disaster."

"Yes, when you put it like that, it does seem to make sense. Quite dreadful, this could actually drag on longer because the opposition took up arms. Oh well, can't be helped, I guess. Meeting adjourned." - Szél said with a sour expression.

--Ukrainian Front--
As the recon flights over Kiev showed the situation in the city was at least deplorable, the orders were clear. The army would surround Kiev, while the internal conflict is over and a winner arise.

The three brigades of the 1st division would be in charge of the siege of Kiev, while the three of the 2nd division would provide humanitarian aid to the ukrainians while securing the territory.

That morning a phone call was held between the Premier Kendar and the Grand Duke, now at the Kasteel de Haar Conference, his orders before leaving had been precise, he was to be informed of everything it was occurring in the front and the nation.

The air campaign, with the assistance of the Imperial Air Force Division, had been a total success.

Refugees fleeing to the neighbor nations of San Lumen and Neoplanta, would be a topic on the agenda of the Grand Ducal government once that the conflict was now concentrated in Kiev. All over Ukraine, cities and bases were now under the control of the Grand Ducal government and in the south region, secure routes were being made to assure the refugees a safe trip home. Provisional airfields were being built as well as temporary camps.

On the conquered cities, many buildings structurally damaged were being demolished by special demolition units of the Grand Ducal Army, meanwhile in the major cities of the Grand Duchy, architecture and engineering studios were working almost 24/7 to come up with freshly made urbanization plans for the destroyed cities.
