It was noon on a warm Monday, and the Presidential conference room in Allentown was full. A long, rectangular table was centered, with five or six individuals sitting at every few chairs. The president, Roger Philippe, was at one of the far ends. He was routinely picking up and dropping a pencil onto the table’s wood surface. No one had spoken yet. He looked up to see everyone’s faces. To his right Alan Erwan, General-In-Chief of the Byronmadian military. To his left sat Master Sea Marshal William Cadell and his protégé, Commodore Frederic Scott. Behind them were various politicians and advisors to the President. When he had thought everyone had had enough thinking time, the president spoke: “Gentlemen…..It seems as though were are in a bit of a situation. Our enemy in Alexandria is beginning a massive campaign to spread their influence abroad. We cannot let this happen. The dictators of the world are uniting, and pointing their sights directly at us. We are the figurehead of democracy in the region, and therefore their natural enemy. When we defended SUP against Cleopatra and her brainwashed followers, we chose sides. Now we must make our side victorious. Soon I am going to depart for Kasteel de Haar, SUP. There myself, as well as the Dutch and Veomese leaders will begin work on a new alliance. Until then however, Byronmandy’s primary foreign policy goal will be to show the world who Cleopatra and mark Antony really are. I tried to get warm relations with Darjistan and the Great Finnish Reich, but yet they still fell victim to the evil that hides in Egypt. I have recently enacted trade agreements with them, and I will use that to show that Byronmandy will not deal with people who get cozy with MVN. If Darjistan and Great Finnish Reich are determined to join into a military alliance with Monaco-Ville-Nice, the trade agreements that we have established will be torn apart. Byronmandy can get oil and lumber from many other places. The rest of the middle east has oil that is flowing into the Republic daily, not to mention our very large supply here at home in Morocco and Algeria. We don’t need there resources. We were merely trying to become good regional neighbors. So I guess Darjistan can forget about Buryadh becoming the new Dubai… I am also having the legislature look into possible sanctions against them. This is all quite a shame. Hopefully the leaders of San Lumen and Celatoria can realize quick enough that it was a wrong decision on their part. It is sad that these nations are becoming mere puppets of the empire. But if they are determined to make such a mistake, let them know that it will make them one of our adversaries.” With that said, he stood up and nodded. “ I hope that you can manage things here for a little while, but I have to leave immediately for the Seven United Provinces. They never really set a start time, but I don’t mind if I’m a bit early. I’ll get to know my soon-to-be ally more.” Then the president exited the room, where he was quickly joined by his Bloodhound, Duke, who must have been waiting outside the entire time. They walked together into the car that took them to the airport. From there, the President, as well as his dog, walked up the stairs onto a small, private-style jet. The Presidential Airplane was being refitted in Lisbon. The flight seemed rather long considering the over 2000 miles it took to fly to the SUP, but it was definitely worth it. This trip is to have a profound effect on the region and bring a new alliance in as one of the land’s major powers. As the president exited the plane, with his loyal dog at his side, he was greeted by two important looking Dutch representatives. |

~ Meeting at Kasteel de Haar Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten was drinking a cup of coffee in his office in the palace they usually called the 'labour palace', he was thinking about the problems in the world. Suddenly he took a piece of paper and scribbled on it 'Leaders, the individuals who should use their heads but lose them most often'. He smiled while looking at his piece of art, as if he just discovered there was some kind of poet hidden inside him. Today was the same as any day, waking up, drinking coffee, working through the massive amounts of papers the government produced each day, drink more coffee, etc. etc. etc. But suddenly his door slam open and there was a guy, no a boy rather. He looked fit but couldn't catch his breath anyway. As he stood there huffing and puffing, sounding like an old diesel engine, he stammered something which seemed to be an apology for bursting in like this. The stadhouder was rather amused by this sudden change of events and told the boy to close the door and sit down. When he sat the stadhouder asked 'Ok, easy now, let's start at the beginning. I am Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten, they say I am the stadhouder. Now, who are you?' The boy was beaten by this unexpected question but managed to answer 'My name is Robert...' The stadhouder looked amused and said 'Ok, next question. What are you doing overhere?' 'Well I am new at the security office and I was told to bring you the news that a plane with the President of Byronmandy is arriving at Amsterdam airport within 30 minutes.' Now it was the stadhouders turn to look shocked 'Excuse me? Within 30 minutes? Why didn't I know of that?' 'We didn't know either sir, we asked them and they sent a message that the president would like to meet us as soon as possible'. The stadhouder thought for a moment and said 'Well, let it be that way! Let the raadspensionaris pick the president up at the airport, so that I can travel to Kasteel de Haar. Can you arrange that?' 'No problem sir, the castle is ready for business!' They both left the room. 'Oh Robert, one second. You did a great job, I want you to go personally with the raadspensionaris and pick up the president.' 'Thank you sir, that is a true honour!' said Robert, as the stadhouder left without saying one more word. ~ 30 minutes later After a fast and bumpy ride the raadspensionaris Johan van Oldenbarnevelt and his personal guide Robert were just in time to see the presidential plane from Byronmandy land on Dutch ground. When the door opened and the president left the plane nothing showed that it was a happening of great importance. No military fanfare, no show, no fireworks, no speeching dignitaries, nothing else than a landing strip on a sunny afternoon. 'WOW what is that?' popped out of Roberts mouth after a wrinkly dog left the plane directly following his master. 'SSSHT' hissed the raadpensionaris 'the president always travels with his dog. Follow me and be careful what you say, this is important'. As the president stood safely on the ground they approached and shook hands. 'Welcome in the Republic of the Seven United Provinces mister president. I am the raadspensionaris Johan van Oldenbarnevelt and this is Robert, he is our guide for today. Sorry that we could not welcome you in the style you deserve, we didn't have enough time.' 'Robert will drive us to Kasteel de Haar where you will get everything you need. The stadhouder is traveling there as we speak. Please let us go, it is a 2 hour drive and I don't want to waste any time.' As they drove they had some small talk ranging from the weather to Duke the bloodhound, which seemed to like the raadspensionaris more than the other way around. Suddenly Robert said 'President, may I welcome you at Kasteel de Haar!' The car slowed down, and they stopped in front of the castle. ![]() |

“Its truly amazing,” said the president as he stepped out of the car. Soon the three men, and one dog, were walking down the path toward the Castle. The President was taking in the amazing sights, but was still actively contemplating what would occur at the meeting. After a moment of silence, the president spoke: “Once again, I’m sorry for arriving so early. I really am in no rush however, and I’ll wait as long as needed for everybody to arrive. I’m sure our friends in Veomo are more than busy at the moment. And also, If you would wish to let someone know that we will be receiving an observer from North Chicanan also, that would be excellent. I hope that you no one will mind.” He looked down at the ground, and for some unknown reason, he rather enjoyed watching his feet hit the dirt surface. But before he knew it, they were at the door, and they walked inside of a real architectural masterpiece. When Duke ran inside and began sniffing a vase that looked utterly priceless, the president noticed his rudeness. “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t ask if you allowed dogs on the castle grounds. Please feel free to tell me to bring him outside if need be. He won’t go far.” The group, escorted along the way by Robert, walked down the hall and toward the room where they were to be meeting. The President seemed more excited about the castle than Duke. The dog only seemed interested in smelling something suspicious in the raadspensionaris’ pocket (much to his annoyance). The President nearly couldn’t contain his laughter. The room that they arrived at was very Dutch in style, and really reflected the culture of the land. The President sat down in a chair near a table, upon which a chess board set, and looked up at his guides. “Thank you for showing me around. This is quite a beautiful place, as well as the rest of your country. I look forward to spending time here.” Then the two Dutch men said that they would let him know when the others arrived before they left the room. The President didn’t know if this was the exact room where they would be meeting, but made himself comfortable anyway, and casually began to look at all the paintings lined up along the wall. |

"Don't you DARE sign a damn thing." When First Minister Helene Aremstrang said things like that, it was a direct order. Even if you were ten years her senior. For Defense Minister Abraham Lovell, he know it was law. Aremstrang was against sending any delegation to the Kasteel de Haar. Not when the state was in the midst of royal fever with a visit from the Emir of Kuwait as well as his mother, the Regent Bernice. She knew fully well that if North Chicanan entered into anything while the Regent was on visit, Kuwait could kill the trip and leave the state with a black eye on the international mark. and it would make it harder on her to deal with Monaco-Ville-Nice - she personally enjoyed the visit by their national footy team during the Chicanan Open and fully believed it was in the state's best interest to maintain good relations with the Pharaoh and Queen. However, she was aware that Byronmandy wanted to bring together an alliance of sorts based on the democracies in the region, while seeing the Ukraine conflict as a lynchpin for discussion. Helene had zero opinion on the war, although she personally thought it was nonsense that every state in the region was rushing to seemingly buy Vemeo's attention rather than allowing San Lumen and the Seven United Provinces - who could be in direct conflict with each other if alliances were formed - work with Vemeo. Debating with her state minister Jason O'Riell, it was agreed that one delegate would go and observe the meetings. And that Monaco-Ville-Nice would be told this as well. The Social Dems needed the Kuwait visit to be a success, so she needed MNV to be fine with the trip by Lovell. So he was stuck in a bit of limbo, waiting on the tarmac at Southampton International Airport with the ok from Fillweed or Helene for the trip. Lovell himself was indifferent to the region - he was one of the few isolationist Social Dems in the party, since he was a good ole boy from the recently founded Northern Isle District. North Chicanan's defense was small and while an interesting player, would not serve any use in the Ukraine conflict. He liked the neutrality of the state. But he could only echo what Helene had said as he waited for takeoff. North Chicanan was signing nothing while in the United Provinces, and he wasn't going until everything was on the up and up in the state and within the region. "This is gonna be a long wait," he sighed as he sipped his coffee. *hour and a half later* Lovell finally got a text from Helene saying that she received word from MVN stating their assurance the meeting would not disrupt relations between the states and Kuwait fully signed off for the state visit. Smirking, he looked ahead to the pilot and said "Let's get this damn thing in the air. I wanna get to the Provinces as soon as possible." |

Robert received a call telling him two things: 1) two planes we about to land at Amsterdam airport within an hour, and 2) he and the raadspensionaris would form the welcoming committee again. Luckily they would be picked up by a helicopter, because trying to make it in time with the car would have been a crazy and dangerous undertaking. As they entered the helicopter Robert suddenly remembered they had left the President of Byronmandy in a room without him knowing where to go or what to do. He asked 'Sir, we forgot the President!, Is there any way to notify the stadhouder?' The raadpensionaris looked startled and picked up his cellphone immediately. Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten had arrived at the castle a few hours before, as he was drinking a cup of coffee he received the call. While listening to the story he started laughing 'So, you are telling me that we have the most important visitor in a hundred years and YOU FORGET HIM!!! Haha, this is hilarious but scandalous simultaneously. I will go and rescue the president immediately!'. The stadhouder walked to the room where the President of Byronmandy was waiting while Robert and the raadspensionaris Johan van Oldenbarnevelt were speeding to the airport to welcome the Prime Minister of the Federation of the Ixzaran Republic and the Minister of Defense of North Chicanan. When he found the room he knocked on the door and opened it. 'Mister President! What an honour to have you here. I am Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten, stadhouder of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces. But please, call me Baaper. I must apologize for it seems the raadspensionaris forgot to get you out of this room. There are two plains coming in and he is rushing to welcome them in time as we speak. Please forgive him, he can be an old grumpy bastard, but he is a good man.' 'We have a private room set up for you to stay as long as you want. Please allow me to give you a tour around Kasteel de Haar, it is a beautiful place but by no means as old as it may seem.' They left the room, with Duke still sniffing at everything expensive for he was a dog with good taste. When the helicopter with Robert and the Raadpsenionaris was about to land at Amsterdam airport they could already see the first plane. 'Sir, we made it!' screamed Robert. However, the raadpsensionaris did not hear him for he was to busy being airsick. The helicopter landed and both of them rushed out. They were just in time to see the Ixzarian plane land. 'I wonder if this president has his dog with him too...' said Robert. |

Prime Minister Rogaliero began to walk out of the plane. Immediately after walking out, he began to notice it was distinctively cooler in SUP than at home. After taking a breath of the local air, the Prime Minister called to others on the plane in Ixzaran while gesturing for them to offboard as well, "Andé, nao tenho voces aqui para discoro. Isto e molto importante!!! He then turned to Robert and the Raadpsenionaris, and introduced himself with a moderate accent. "Hello to you sir, my name is Alejandro Rogaliero. Prime Minister of the Ixzaran Republic. Nice to meet you. These two gentlemen getting of my plane are from my Cabinet. The one on your left is Andrei Giarascuto, Minister of State and to your right is the Minister of Foreign Affarris, Chritiano Ribeiro. I hope you don't mind that I brought them along. They don't get out too often you know." |

Minister Neudorffer was looking out the window of the government jetplane that was taking him to New Amsterdam. He was pondering on what is he to do with all these countries meeting there to discuss the creation of a new military alliance. To him, it seemed evident that this was the prelude to a new season of war in the history of the region. Why have a military alliance, if you're not going to have a war? MVN was obviously overstepping some unwritten limitations and Byronmandy was obviously trying to make them stand down. And everyone else saw an opportunity to further their own agendas during the conflict that was to occur. However, even Neoplanta seemed to have an agenda this time. Before getting on the plane, President Szél had instructed him to make use of this meeting to try and stabilise the situation around the Ukraine. The old regime had to go, that much was evident, but also it would be detrimental to just let Veomo have the territory, they concluded. Maybe if the Ukraine were to become a joint protectorate between Veomo, Neoplanta, and San Lumen, and maybe if even SUP would be willing to take a role in the postwar peace and rebuilding mission, maybe then the country could be made a democracy. But how will he persuade Veomo? To just offer the military presence as help? So many questions... But then Neudorffer was told to belt up, as they were to start descending over New Amsterdam. "Oh well" - he thought to himself - "if nothing else, we can remind everybody that we want Non-Aggression Treaties with them, especially in the face of such turbulent times." |

Welcome all of you in the Republic of the Seven United Provinces! Prime minister it is no problem at all that you brought these two gentlemen with you, I wish you all a very pleasant stay. Oh, excuse me, I almost forgot to introduce myself. I am Johan van Oldenbarnevelt, the republics raadspensionaris. And this here is Robert, he will be our guide for today'. As they shook hands the raadspensionaris continued 'Please let Robert bring you into the hangar where you can get something to drink. I will stay outside because a plane from North Chicanan can arrive any minute. The cars which will bring us to Kasteel de Haar aren't here yet but they can arrive any minute. We were on a very tight schedule to arrange your welcome you see. As soon as everything is settled and the representatives from North Chicanan have landed we can leave for the castle'. Robert left with the prime minister from Ixzaran and his two ministers in the direction of the hangar as the raadspensionaris stayed outside hoping he would never have to fly again. |
