Arriving late (as usual), Lovell exited the United Provinces car and walked with two members of the SUP's delegation up to the hangar where the Province's raadspensionaris was waiting. Noting he seemed slightly frazzled, he trusted he was not too late.

After quick intros all around, Lovell and Johan van Oldenbarnevelt joined the Neoplantan delegation and headed to the Kasteel for talks.

(ooc: sorry, not sure where to go on this one :-p)

(OOC: No Problems North Chicanan, everything will be alright! I will go back in time a few hours to make things up with Neoplanta.)
(OOC: SORRY NEOPLANTA!!!, somehow we posted simultaneously so I did not react on your post. I will try and make it up with you now.)

As Robert was inside the Hangar with the Ixzarian authorities raadspensionaris Johan van Oldenbarnevelt stood next to the landing strip waiting for the North Chicanan plane to arrive. To his great relieve he saw two shiny black limousines driving into the parking lot, one for each visiting nation. Somehow everything was going to land on its feet after all. As the incoming plane started to land he noticed something strange... the plane wasn't red and white, which are the colours of North Chicanan, but instead it carried the aquamarine colours of Neoplanta. The raadspensionaris turned around and made a run for the hangar as fast as his age would let him. Upon entering the hangar he called 'Robert, quick come here!' 'What is it sir?' 'Another plane is landing' 'Yes well, isn't that what we are expecting?' 'No, idiot, it is not the plane from North Chicanan, but this one comes from Neoplanta!' Robert's mouth fell open.

'No shit! Excuse me sir, but that is a great thing isn't it. I mean, the more the merrier! We do have a problem with the transportation however, we need extra car.' said Robert.

The Raadspensionaris responded 'There is no time for that, I will ask the authorities from Neoplanta and Ixzaran if they are willing to share a car. I suggest that you will drive with them and have some small talk. I will go with the North Chicanan authorities personally, this issue is a lot harder for them because they usually do not interfere with international politics. I do not want to scare them off before anything has happenend. So, good luck!' He turned around and returned to the landing strip leaving a stunned Robert behind. What had happened? He had still been "the new guy from security" this morning and look what he was doing now...

Outside the Raadspensionaris waited for both planes to land, first welcoming Minister Neudorffer from Neoplanta and a few minutes later the Minister of Defense from North Chicanan. After everyone had something to drink in the hangar they could leave for Kasteel de Haar. Luckily the Ixzaran and the Neoplantan Minister did not mind sharing a car which helped a lot with the trasportational problems. Robert accompanied them, and without the constant guidance of the Raadspensionaris he finally had the chance to ask the visitors many things about their homecountries. The Raadspensionaris accompanied the Minister of Defense from North Chicanan and they too had a good conversation, not as informal as in the other car though.

After a two hour drive the cars arrived at Kasteel de Haar where the Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten and the President of the Republic of Byronmandy with Duke the Bloodhound were already waiting. As they stepped out they all shook hands and the stadhouder spoke 'WELCOME in the Republic of the Seven United Provinces, I am the Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten. Each of you will get a room and will be given a while for yourselves. I can imagine it has been a tiring journey. I hope to see you all for an informal dinner in the Great Hall this evening where we can prepare ourselves for the historical meeting of tomorrow.'

'Before you go, there is one more thing I am happy to inform you about. The Grand Duke of Veomo will be arriving shortly by V-22 Osprey to participate in the negotiations. You will all be brought to you rooms now, I sincerely hope you have a pleasant stay!!'

As everyone left for his room the Raadspensionaris took a moment for himself and Robert grabbed the chance to call his wife telling her a story she would never believe without any proof...

(OOC: No worries, 7.)

IC: Minister Neudorffer was glad to share a car with the Ixzaran delegates - neighbours always have lots to talk about. The Neoplantan delegation seemed more modest, composing of only the Foreign Affairs Minister and his two aides. Neudorffer was looking forward to the informal dinner, he did love to taste the dishes of other cultures. But he was much more eager for the diplomatic talks to commence; this military alliance, together with the other one on the MVN side, worried him deeply.

The Grand Ducal Air Force, Royal Transportation Wing, modified V-22 Osprey soars the skies over Kasteel de Haar. Tilting its rotors the aircraft prepares to land, an area near the castle had been prepared for the maneuver.

As the wheels gently touches the ground, inside the Grand Duke Kahv Eirm of Veomo finishes his drink. "A beautiful place this is" he mutters to himself.

The side door opens as two member of the Grand Ducal Guard steps down, the rotors shutting down, after a while the Grand Duke disembark.

The arrival of the Duke was seen as very important by the Stadhouder, he made sure to be at the field where the Dukes V-22 Osprey landed to welcome him. He personally led the Duke to his room, and breathed a sigh of relief when he walked to his own room.

Finally everything was settled, everyone arrived at the castle and Baaper the I van Voorne-Putten knew that they were about to write history whatever would happen. But first they would have a nice dinner without any obligations, a dinner to get to know eachother and have a good time hopefully followed by a good night sleep.

Half an hour before the dinner he arrived at the great hall where the Raadspensionaris and Robert were already waiting for him. He said 'Gentlemen, you have done a fabulous job today. I asked more than reasonable, but you delivered even more than demanded. I am in great debt with you and will make sure to repay you.'

Robert said hesitatingly 'There is no need for that sir I did it with pleasure, but will you please send my wife a letter about what I have done today? She thinks I am lying...'. The stadhouder laughed and asked for Robert's cell phone to call her personally. After he ended the call the stadhouder smiled at Robert and said 'That did the trick, she believes you now'.

During the next thirty minutes all the foreign authorities entered the Eetzaal, and when all had arrived everyone was given a goblet of beer or a glass of wine. Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten stood up and spoke:

'Welcome! I am not going to speech about politics or the misery in the world at this moment, I am not going to speech at all. I am only going to wish all of you a great meal and a nice evening. Tomorrow will be an important day, but let us eat and drink as neighbours and friends tonight. Please bring in the food!!!'

Roger Philippe, the President of Byronmandy was seated about center on one side of the long table. To his right sat Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten, and to his left sat Grand Duke Kahv Eirm. Together, the idea of having a quick meeting somewhere in the United Provinces had turned into a marvelous international meeting with numerous other nations in attendance. Together, they represented most of the region’s democracies. They had a common bond against oppression and tyranny.

The President was more than glad that Veomo could attend. He hadn’t quite heard how the duke’s talks with MVN and Darjistan went. The leaders of MVN and Darjistan have mistaken Veomo, the president thought. Veomo was a constitutional monarchy at least, and did not oppress it’s people in the harsh and outdated ways that they do. This alliance that is soon to be formed should welcome constitutional monarchies along with democracies. In a constitutional monarchy, at least there was a constitution to keep the leader’s power reasonable. Then the president got thinking about how many of the nations here were actually going to join this alliance, whether right off, or sometime in the future. The President knew that at worst there would be two members. He chuckled to himself after realizing how pathetic that is going to look in front of the alliance of dictators. On the other hand, when this conference ends, an alliance of five or six nations could emerge, and that would be truly amazing.

When the food came out, the president didn’t know what to eat first. He had never had Dutch food before, and was unsure what most of it was. After eating a couple bites of something that he didn’t know what it was, he remembered something and turned to Baaper: “Sorry Baaper, if that is what you would like to be called, but I forgot to inform you that I have invited Vulkland to attend also. Last time I talked to them, they seemed like they might try to attend, but they had some urgent business to deal with and never got back to me. I can assure you that Vulkland is a wonderful nation. I have had past dealings with them and their leader before, and it is quite a nice country. So sorry if we have a few people arrive late.”

With that said, he turned to the Grand Duke:

“Grand Duke, I am very pleased that you were able to attend this conference with us. I’m sure you are enjoying your time here in the Provinces. I hear that you also just finished meeting with the Pharaoh and the King of Darjistan. I have met with King Dizhwar before, and I can tell you that he is quite an interesting figure. As for the Pharoah, it has been a good amount of time since I have spoken personally with him. I’m sure that whatever they have done will help create a quick end to the war in Ukraine.”

The stadhouder turned left to look the President of Byronmandy straight in the eyes and said ´Please do call me Baaper. It is no problem if the authorities from Vulkland are arrivering later, we will welcome them with open arms. I see the food confuses you a bit, it is not all typically Dutch for our own food usually looks like a mess. The Dutch are fond of ´prakken´ as we call it which is nothing more than just mashing your food to pulp. Though I never really understood why that is done. What you are eating now is `Boerenkool stamppot`, it is a mixture of Kale and boiled Patatoes. Very healthy, but filling. Another thing we have is `Hollandse Nieuwe`, which is a raw herring with chopped pieces of union. It is very rare for people from abroad to like it. I won´t blame you for disliking it. Ofcourse we do have `less exotic` dishes too, there must be enough for anyone´s likings.´ The stadhouder laughed as some people shivered by the idea of gobbling down a raw herring. He continued ´For desert we will have more authentic dishes that you probably will like, we have `stroopwafels`, `poffertjes`, and much more.´

After everyone had enough to eat and drink the party moved to the Centrale Hal where they could talk some more. Seen the circumstances the atmosphere was very good. Somewhere around midnight Baaper raised his voice and said ´I sincerely hope all of you had a pleasant evening. I am going to bed now, but please stay here as long as you want. However, please make sure to be fit enough for tomorrow, because we have a difficult day ahead of us. Sweet dreams and see you tomorrow, breakfast will be served all morning. Goodnight!´

Before Baaper left for his room he approached the President of Byronmandy. ´Mister President, can I speak you for a few seconds?' The President agreed and they walked away from the party. 'I want to ask you to lead the debate tomorrow, because you have much more experience with these things than we do. If you agree I will open the meeting and give the initial word to you. You do not have to decide now, but please tell me before the meeting begins.'

They shook hands and Baaper went to his room. He hoped for a good night rest, but matters were much to exciting and important for that.
After a restless night the stadhouder went downstairs for breakfast noticing he was not the only one being out of bed early....

Minister Neudorffer was more of a morning person, he left early last evening. Now he was doing work on his laptop while enjoying a bowl of cereal lavishly sweetened with honey and raisins. He could never resist these whenever he could get his hands on any; precisely the reason why he kept none at home, he liked to discipline himself that way. But now he was having a feast.

As he saw the Stadhouder, he approached him and asked:
"Mister Voorne-Putten, sir, if I may be allowed to ask you a question frankly?"
When the Stadhouder allowed him and told him to call him Baaper, he continued:
"How is it that, while the Government of Cirsinus is so eager to step up their involvement in Poland and Lithuania, the Provinces, also sharing borders with the two nations, have not so far even made a statement? They are your neighbours just as much as they are the neighbours of Cirsinus, you must be experiencing similar, if not the exact same difficulties as they are."

Neudorffer awaited the Stadhouder's answer with a look of sincere confusion.

The Stadhouder did not expect such a difficult question in the early morning and wished he could have some coffee first. He said 'That is a very good question, let me get a cup of coffee first and join you at your table then. Do you want something too?' He walked away leaving Minister Neudorffer in even more confusion.

After a minute or 5 he returned with a plate filled with coffee and something to eat. As he sat down opposite to the Minister he saw the confusion in his eyes and said 'Oh, excuse me. I always make my own coffee and breakfast when I am at home, don't want people to do things for me which I can do myself. Some say it is prestige if your staff does it, I call it childish.'

As he drank his coffee he said thoughfully 'Hmmm.. so you asked why we didn't make any statements about the plans of Cirsinus to increase involvement in Lithuania and Poland? Let me be open and honest to you. We share their view on the matter that Poland and Lithuania are failed nations, our army division in Brielle and Navy fleet in Rotterdam are occupied with defending the borders from their misery trying to cross it. Those nations are hell on earth and Cirsinus certainly has the power to change that. However, we do not know Cirsinus at all. Meaning that we have no idea what kind of neighbour they will be. If they are friendly to us there should not be a problem, but if they would be hostile we would be history in no time.'

He drank some more coffee, and continued 'Last time in a big conflict, we were fast to ventilate our opninion and that brought nothing more than a lot of unrest. So we are reticent to make the same mistake this time. I had hoped Cirsinus would attend to this meeting giving us a chance to meet, but alas it seems that they are not going to be here. But we can not afford to choose sides without even knowing both sides properly'

He smiled at the minister 'This is everything I can tell you for it is everything I know. Hopefully you find this answer satisfactory?'

--At the Dinner--
"Indeed mister President, King Dizhwar is an interesting figure, and I truly hope this war is soon over, will be indeed a relief when the ukrainian territory becomes part of the Grand Duchy." After that he shivered with the description of the `Hollandse Nieuwe`, and tried even not to look at it. Besides that most of the dishes were indeed superb.

The after dinner was a most pleasant one, but the lack of sleep from the previous nights made the Grand Duke leave early that evening.

--At Breakfast--

As the Grand Duke gets ready for the breakfast his cellphone rings...

"Good morning Your Highness" the voice says as the Grand Duke takes the call

"Oh! Good morning Gustav" and after a pause "Is there everything ok?"

"Oh yes Your Highness. I was just calling to inform you that we have great news from the front. And that that issue with Krasnodar is being taken care off"

"Wonderful news Gustav. Tell me more about the front!"

As Premier Gustav Kendar informs the Grand Duke about the front, he walks downstairs to meet the others attending the meeting.
