Alexandria - Monaco-Ville-Nice: Queen Cleopatra sat having lunch with her and the Pharaohs twins as the Pharaoh sat head in his hands at the head of the marvelous cedar table. The Queen and children ate a simple traditional chicken shawarma while the Pharaoh still unwell from the night before sipped ginger ale. Conversation was light mostly about the children and what they had going on in there lives. The world and the atmosphere of the region seemingly miles away. The Foreign Minister Nelson Beaudelaire entered into the Royals personal dining area and spoke with word from the Republic of Neoplanta in his dreary low voice.

"I've received word from President Andor regarding our state visit."

The Queen seemed quite excited perhaps from a desire for diplomacy or perhaps her desire to spend a little time in a country that was quite beautiful.

"Excellent!"

The Foreign Minister continued.

"The President said he'd be happy to receive us at any time."

The Pharaoh gave an exasperated look and slowly grumbled.

"I'm hardly in the shape for a trip."

The Queen wouldn't let the mood of the Pharaoh get in her way and acted as if she didn't hear what he had just said.

"Get our plane ready we will leave at once. Send word to the President that we are en route shortly and that I much look forward to meeting him."

The Temerin International Airport was all ready for the arrival of the Pharaoh and Queen of Monaco-Ville-Nice. President Szél Andor, Prime Minister Sultana Kemal-Bach, and basically the entire government top was present and waiting for the plain. Given the location of the airfield next to the train station, the presidential train was set up to take all to Urbs Neoplanta and the Cusum complex in the old fort. A number of locations were planned for the state visit, including the Museum of Neoplanta, a cruise on the Danube, and traditional ethnic dances and music at a local festival. All was in a buzz, with security hardly maintaining its control over the more than pushy media.

Imperial Air Corps One had just touched down at Temerin International Airport. Inside the passengers were readying themselves and collecting there belongings waiting to leave after the short flight. Crew began opening the door to the tarmac as Praetorian Guards began to form up. An aide knocked and opened the door to the Royals personal chambers on Imperial Air Corps One. The Pharaoh and Queen were just finishing changing into more formal clothing with the Pharaoh wearing a black suit and the Queen wearing a classic cream colored Chanel dress. Once the two were ready they walked to the door where the Praetorian Guard was waiting and had formed an honor guard down the steps to the tarmac. The Pharaoh stepped out first waving to crowd that had gathered and then the Queen emerged smiling and the two walk hand in hand down the steps toward the waiting Neoplantan officials to the flash of many bulbs from the press. Reaching the end of the red carpet they came upon many members of the Republics government and began greeting them.

President Szél greeted the royal couple shaking their hands warmly. "Welcome to Neoplanta, Your Imperial Highnesses. We hope You had a pleasant journey." After swiftly introducing them to the PM and several ministers, they made their way to the presidential train. In under ten minutes, they had arrived at the old fort of Cusum, where the distinguished guests were to take a tour of the government complex.

The Pharaoh complemented the President on the impressive structure Cusum and its defenses. The Queen enjoyed viewing the many pieces of art which dated back from the Hapsburg rule to more recent works of current Neoplantan artists. All along the tour the Pharaoh and Queen chatted warmly with the various Neoplantan politicians that accompanied them along the tour. The talk was friendly with some chatter about the Empire and the Republics football sides likely meeting in North Chicanan. Both sides knew that more difficult conversation likely about Ukraine, Kuwait, and the current tensions with Byronmandy were to come. For now however all seemed content with enjoying the art and the Imperial Monarchs rather enjoyed learning about Cusum and its history.

The various ministers of Neoplanta did gladly indulge in small talk, many of them were avid football fans. Others were amateur Egyptologists, chatting with the Queen of her ancient predecessors, pyramids, temples. and sarcophagi. Some of the few artefacts in the United Republic, that could compete in age with the ancient treasures of the Empire, were a few golden helmets from the Roman Republic, excavated in the region of Syrmia, in Pannonia.

The Minister of Defence, Tayyip Orhan Kemal, however, was no match to the Pharaoh in the telling of wartime stories, as he never saw a day of live battle, not one having taken place in the newer history of Neoplanta.

Then they had arrived at the press room of the Foreign Ministry. Here the two sides would sign the Non-Aggression Treaty into law, in front of press from all over the world to see.

"This is merely a formality, but we do prefer to be on the safe side of things" - said the President to the Pharaoh. "It shouldn't take long, and then you have your choice of cruising the Danube, visiting the national museum, or traditional folk dancing."

The Pharaoh and Queen both smiled intently for the cameras as they were presented with the gold and diamond encrusted pen that the monarchs used to sign important pieces of legislation into law when the cameras were near. It was considered opulent by there opponents but it was the kind of flair that made these two famous beyond even what there titles suggested. The Pharaoh was the first to sign the Non-Aggression Treaty declaring "To peace between Monaco-Ville-Nice and Neoplanta" then it was the Queens turn who signed the treaty posing for the cameras the whole time.

They both were admittedly having a good time. The Queen enjoyed that several of the ministers were well versed in early Imperial history as the Queen also had a fondness for history. This was made evident by her many questions about the beautiful Roman helmet and some of the other Neoplantan artifacts. The Pharaoh always enjoyed the company of those that would listen to his story and the Neoplantan politicians were no different. There was some debate between the two about what they would like to attend. The Queen argued "A cruise down the Danube would be romantic and scenic." while the Pharaoh countered that traditional fold dancing "Would give them a better understand of the Republics culture." after awhile it was agreed they would cruise down the Danube.

As the Pharaoh, the Queen, and the President all co-signed the documents of the Treaty, smiling and shaking hands before the cameras. A few basic questions were answered for the press, but the event was cut short from a full press conference. However, some reporters did shout in some questions pertaining to the timing of the signing of the Non-Aggression Treaty, precisely at the time of the war in the Ukraine. These were, for the moment, discarded, and the whole group went down the many stairs to the riverbank, and boarded a cruis ship.

Here they were offered refreshments and snacks, including a variety of foods from the different national cuisines of the ethnicities of Neoplanta: German strudel, Bosnian/Turkish baklava, Hungarian mákos kifli, and the traditional national summertime dish of corn on the cob, just to name a few. As the ship went upstream towards the west, a most scenic panorama spread in the south of the Mons Almus (Fertile Mountain in Latin, also called Fruška gora in Serbian and Tarcal in Hungarian), with its lush forests and vineyards, and the occasional monastery, all in the golden hues of the late afternoon.

President Szél was quite pleased that he was able to entertain his guests. Knowing the life they lived and the type of excess they were used to, he was afraid that the more conservative culture of his nation, with its mild agricultural landscapes and strict and functional, yet somewhat decorative architecture, plus the fact that he had no grand spectacle to offer them, would ultimately cause his guests to leave disappointed for Vienna. But that seems to have been averted. And when they had enough sightseeing, some issues of international politics could be addressed.

The Pharaoh and Queen talked amongst the various politicians about there favorite Neoplantan dishes. The Pharaoh was partial to Strudel while the Queen preferred the baklava. They then spoke to the politicians about how wonderful they found the diversity of Neoplanta and spoke of some of the diversity in the Empire. The Empire they said was made of many different ethnic groups like Neoplanta with native Egyptians in the north, Nubians in the south, Jews and Berbars in the Sinai, Bedouins and Berbars in Libya, with Greeks and Turks in Cyprus. All the while the center of the Empire Alexandria was a melting pot with many Europeans living there as well as the traditional Egyptian and Greek populace. The Pharaoh himself was from Europe just over Neoplanta's border in San Lumen. The Queen then spoke briefly on her ancestral links to Alexander the Great and his views of multiculturalism.

The Queen enjoyed the cruise of the Danube and landscape though quaint was truly beautiful and was not lost on the Queen. She appreciated the landscape imagining her families native Macedonia probably looks similar to the scenery in Hungary. She noted President Szél's desire to keep her and the Pharaoh entertained and was quite entertained. She found the President to be a rather interesting man who has managed to bring Neoplanta onto the international stage while maintaining the strict Republican stance of neutrality. He seemed to work hard to preserve peace in the region which the Queen found admirable.

It seemed to soon but the cruise came to an end and it was time for the President and some of his ministers and the Imperial Monarchs to engage in some more serious conversation.

President Szél was quite happy to learn that Neoplanta and the Empire in the end did share many similarities, most prominently the multicultural nature of both nations. However, their different views on foreign policy were very much apart. Perhaps the recent happenings in the Ukraine showed this the best, Szél thought to himself. So he spoke to the Royal couple, as the ministers had left them with the PM to discuss more privately:
"As we sit here, enjoying ourselves on this cruise, many thousands are experiencing the worst days of their lives not so far away, in the Ukraine. True, their lives were rather hard up until now, suffering under a dictator such as President Goykov is, but at least they didn't have a war rampaging through their country. We all know that the Ukraine, no matter what their propaganda machinery of a state media might lead you to believe, would never had attacked Veomo. In fact, I see them as solely to blame for this war and all the suffering and destruction it has caused. I see their actions as those of a militant aggressor state out to conquer its weaker neighbours, and I fear that their appetites might bring instability to our region. And in all this, for some reason, they have Your approval and help. Agreed, the Goykov regime needed to fall, but an open military invasion seems too blunt a move to take.
In this I am in no way implying that the Empire had any fault in the events that occurred; you merely chose to give them military aid once the war had started to hasten the conflict to its natural conclusion. But this war didn't need to happen in the first place.
That is at least how we see it. I am most interested in your perspective, and what you think is to become of the Ukraine after the war."

Szél knew that what he had said was less than diplomatic, but he needed to get his view of the situation through to the Queen (he had little trust in the possibility of an army man such as the Pharaoh understanding Neoplanta's dislike of military expansion). Without that, he feared that maybe he could soon bear witness to a similar action by the Empire itself. He had little to loose on the side of relations with MVN in any case.
