All the preparations had been made and the great city of Vienna looked its very best. Everything was in place for what would become one of King Jason most important days. Tomorrow monarchs from around the world would be arriving in Vienna the former capital of the Habsburg Monarchy and today the judicial capital of San Lumen. The summit was about the creation of a new alliance of monarchies. King Jason knew how big this event was as it would be his official debut on the world stage and it would be covered by many major news networks. King Jason had himself a lavish dinner with his family and got a good night's sleep before headed off to bed. In the early morning he left Florence on Royal One (the royal jet) with Queen Catherine to head to Vienna. Soon after he arrived in Vienna the motorcade picked up Mayor Parren Oswald at City Hall. They were then off to the The Hotel Imperial the location of the summit. People were lining the streets to get a glimpse of the motorcades as they arrived. Outside the Hotel Imperial a thong of reporters was there along with hundreds of people gathered behind barricades who wanted to see the the other heads of state as they arrived. King Jason and Queen Catherine were greeted to thunderous applause. The King waved and greeted the crowd. Both King Jason and Mayor Oswald gave brief speech before entering the hotel. As the King entered he thought about how much he was much looking forward to meeting the other monarchs from around the world.

"This is quite a city isn't it?" Emperor Julii zi Grangalia XIII (or simply Emperor Julii) commented to his aid Colonel Shiro Kiryu of the Imperial Guards.

"Indeed it is your majesty." Kiryu replied.

"Not here!" Emperor Julii snapped.

"Sorry sir." Kiryu apologized. The Emperor had wanted to take in the sights, sounds and tastes of Vienna before the summit began, and had himself and Kiryu don regular street clothes and had Kiryu address him simply as sir or even Fyodor, his given name before assuming the throne, as not to draw attention to themselves. Until the summit Julii simply wished to be an average tourist. The pair had breakfast at a local cafe before wandering around the city. They encountered a crowd that was growing around one of the main streets.

"Hey, so what's up with this?" Emperor Julii asked in a casual tone he spoke in when he was in an informal setting, to the closest person, a a young local woman.

"The King's motorcade will be passing though here later along with monarchs from other countries." She said. "Supposed to be one of the biggest summits." She added.

"Ah, is that so?" Emperor Julii asked, an amused expression forming.

"And on top of that, I hear the Emperor from some country way out to the east will be visiting here for the first time. I wonder what he looks like." The woman said, her voice taking an almost dreamy tone at the last sentence.

"Hahaha! I hope he doesn't disappoint." The other replied.

"Your accent, you guys aren't from around here are you?" She asked with a smile.

"Nope, partly here as tourists and partly on business, speaking of..." Emperor Julii looked down at his watch. "That business needs to be taken care of."

"Oh, well it was nice meeting you, I'm Sarah." The woman said holding her hand out.

"Fyodor, nice meeting you." The Emperor replied as he shook her hand. "Shiro, lets go."

There was a buzz about Vienna, seemingly everyone was feeling the buzz that the city was giving off since it had been selected to host the coming summit of monarchs. People lined the streets waving flags and waving to the various dignitaries and monarchs as they passed by in there motorcades. It took on almost a parade like atmosphere in the city center. Those along the route closest to the Hotel Imperial could hear loud music and cheering and applause coming from around the corner but it was difficult to make out what exactly it was. After a few moments the music grew louder and the cheering grew closer and then finally the people could see what the commotion was all about. It was a mock triumph running through the streets of Vienna!

To the Queen this was an opportunity to unite old allies to new ones and create a alliance among the monarchies of the east and west. Economically, culturally, and defensively in the hopes it would further monarchies well into the 21st century. It was also an opportunity to present to her allies a show of the great diversity, wealth, and power of the Empire. Being the showman she was she did not intend to disappoint with her and the Pharaohs entrance. For the Pharaoh this visit also held significance but of another kind. Mark Antony grew up in San Lumen and to him this was a triumphant homecoming of a local hero. Antony's triumph was winning many battles as a mercenary general and eventually the heart of Queen Cleopatra giving him a piece of the Imperial throne. He had left San Lumen a general and returned an Emperor.

Neither of the Royals spared any expense when it came to there entrance. Leading the Imperial procession were an honor guard of 50 fabulously dressed Egyptian ceremonial light cavalry, behind them was a full military band blasting songs of Imperial glory and triumph, behind them were 50 folk dancers waving streamers and beautifully dressed, behind them were nearly 100 African dancers traditionally dressed in Nubian fashion, all along the route people threw confetti in the air covering the street, next it was several floats of Ancient Egyptian boats with oar men as if they were traveling down the Nile and releasing white doves along the way, next there was another military band playing the traditional anthem of the Royal, then next in line it was a massive formation of over 300 ceremonial dressed Praetorian Guards marching at attention, finally nearly 200 men could be seen working in gangs pulling large beams connected to a float that was a replica of the Sphynx, at its base was stairs leading up to two ornate thrones decorated in all the Imperial fashion. Atop the thrones were the Queen and Pharaoh who upon coming into sight got a massive roar of approval from the crowd. Stopping at steps of the Hotel Imperial Praetorian Guards escorted the Pharaoh and Queen to the red carpet where King Jason was waiting for them.

King Jason was amazed by the Queen and Pharaoh's grand entrance. He had been hearing rumors that they had spectacle planned but he never imagined what he had just witnessed! Queen Cleopatra was even more beautiful in person. King Jason had only seen pictures of her and and the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh was a good looking man, King Jason was a little boy when the Pharaoh served in the Royal Army and considered it a true honor to finally meet the Pharaoh having heard so much about him from his late father. King Jason knew his father Prince Olav was watching from above.
"Your Royal Highness, Your Majesty it is truly an honor to meet you in person. Welcome to Vienna. May I present my consort Queen Catherine.'' The King said as he shook their hands.
"That was a quite a show. It's an honor to meet you both.'' Queen Catherine said. "Welcome to San Lumen.''
"May I also present the Mayor of Vienna Parren Oswald.'' King Jason said to the duo. They shook hands and and posed for a few photos before the Queen and Pharaoh headed inside where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was playing for the arriving Monarchs, just as the next motorcade pulled up.

"Alright gentlemen, you know what they say about first impressions, and this is the Empire's first impression on the west, so let make it an impressive one!" Emperor Julii stated to his two closest aids.

For the Grangale Empire this was the start of a new era. For centuries the Empire paid little interest in the events and in the nations on the western part of the continent. Content with dealing with it's local neighbors. But now a radical shift in foreign policy had taken place, and the Empire decided to take it's place on the international stage, to show the world what the Empire had to off and to see what the world had to offer.

At the front was 100 Imperial Guardsman in their black ceremonial uniforms, goose-step marching with their ceremonial Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.I rifles. The loud echo of their boots stamping in unison was heard even over the loud ambient noise. Behind them was a smaller group of Guardsmen, followed by a military band playing a drum cadences and a variation of the national anthem. At various points the procession would stop, and the smaller group of soldiers performed a 2 minute drill display. Following the band was a pair of armored personnel carriers with Imperial Guards markings, their gun and missile turrets aimed upwards and to the left in a salute, Following the APCs was a pair of jeeps with high ranking Imperial Army officers and a flag pole with a large Imperial flag. Behind the jeeps, was a vintage jet black Mercedes Benz 770 limo, complete with small Imperial flags near the headlights. The limo was flanked by two Guardsmen on each side in full combat gear with their Mk.14 EBR rifles. Standing on the limo was the Emperor himself. He wore a black three piece double breasted suit, with a vest that extended down past his knees. In the limo with the Emperor was Colonel Kiryu and Colonel Almathea. As the Emperor waived to the crowed he noticed Sarah from earlier taking pictures of their procession. He caught her eye and she gasped as she recognized him as the "tourist" from earlier. He winked at her and flashed her a smile as she took his picture. Following the limo was another pair of jeeps, another pair of APCs and another military band, an all female color guard and another 100 Guardsmen.

Upon pulling up to the steps of the Hotel, one of the Guardsmen flanking the Mercedes approached and opened the door for the Emperor and bowed as Julii stepped out of the car. As he walked down to meet King Jason and Mayor Oswald he was flanked by the two Colonels serving as his aids and in perfect unison, the other four Guardsmen took up flanking positions. Emperor Julii walked in a particular manner that allowed the wind to catch his shoulder length hair, and give the illusion of wind blowing, something he was sure would please the ladies. Upon reaching King Jason, the 4 Guardsmen stepped to the side, faced towards the carpet, and in unison snapped to attention and placed their rifles down on the ground butt-first, supported by their right hands on the barrel.

King Jason and Mayor Oswald had no doubt the media was speechless at the grandeur of the royal processions as they came down the street. The Emperor of the Grangale Empire was no exception. King Jason was quite impressed by the Emperor entrance. The Grangale Empire was a mystery to him and he knew little about it. This summit was the Empire's debut on the world stage as well and King Jason thought they did a fantastic job.
"Emperor Julii Welcome to Vienna. It's a pleasure to meet you. I look forward to learning more about you and your country. Its truly an honor to have you here.'' King Jason felt ackward for how he addressed the Emperor. He had forgotten to ask beforehand how the Emperor was addressed but the Emperor didn't seem to mind. Instead the Emperor commented that he liked the King's outfit of black leather pants, a shirt and tie and a black leather jacket.
"Thank You.'' King Jason said in response. "May I Present Queen Catherine and the Honorable Mayor of Vienna Parren Oswald.'' The three of them exchanged greetings and posed for pictures. The Emperor headed inside to the lobby as the next motorcade pulled up.

From the moment King Dizhwar woke up this morning, it seemed like it would be a great day. The sun was shining, there weren't to be any public hangings (days like this only happen a few times a year), intrigue was abound in the world, and he was going to get to fly on the Royal Darj, one of his favorite things to do.

As he wrapped up all urgent state matters while finishing lunch, he left the government HQ building for his motorcade, and the airfield at Rabah Air Base. Though the first part of the day was seamless, King Dizhwar would get bad news as he reached the plane, when the mechanic told him it was having engine troubles. It would take a few more hours to get a replacement part from Tabuk. In the time it took for the part to reach Rabah, King Dizhwar was invited to tour the base, and inspect the Air Force personnel on station. The Airmen hated this process, but it was a part of military life. Around the twentieth rank, and four hours since he arrived, King Dizhwar started to get cranky. Today, the twentieth rank wished they had deserted, or hadn't had those late night exercises the night before, so any of their planes could be air worthy at this moment. The King, even on some of the perfect airmen found the tiniest of things wrong, and had them put on mundane details that were not to be stopped until sunrise the next morning.

Once he finished inspecting everyone, he returned to the airfield and walked up to the mechanic.

"If the problem hasn't been resolved yet, you're going to lose more than your job."

The mechanic gulped down every desire he had to keep all the limbs he was still in possession of and replied, "Y...Ye...Yes Your Majesty, she's air worthy now."

The King jutted the mechanic out of the way and boarded the Royal Darj.

The flight was pretty turbulent just past Tel Aviv, but calmed down over Catalona, and smoothed out the rest of the way to Vienna.

Once on the ground in Vienna, King Dizhwar entered the motorcade and headed for The Hotel Imperial - a hotel King Dizhwar had seen long ago when he visited the city during his college days in Sweden. He'd never been in it though, this was before he was a popular figure, and too poor to afford a room there. As the motorcade reached the outskirts of the city, the car came to a stop. King Dizhwar could hear the drivers door close - he wondered what the reason for stopping was - assassination attempt? Less than a moment later, the driver climbed back in the vehicle, and rolled down the window to the back, "I'm sorry your Majesty, it seems the engine overheated."

King Dizhwar rolled his eyes. At least it wasn't a plane, and 30,000ft in the air. The driver reassured the King that another car was on the way. Wanting some fresh air the King stepped outside the vehicle temporarily, and looked around at the beautiful city. Moments later a buzzing sound was heard in the distance, and it grew louder and louder until the King could make out it was a scooter on its way into the city. He didn't think anything of it, until it pulled up next to him, and the man driving it decided to be exceptionally considerate, "Car trouble? Need a lift?" The King shook his head 'no', and the man on the scooter continued "Well, good luck to you."

King Dizhwar thought a moment, well, after all the problems that came about today, he just wanted to get to the hotel, and who knew how long the next car would take to get there. "Actually, you know what, I need to get to the Hotel Imperial."

"Hop on!" said the driver.

King Dizhwar got on the back of the scooter, and as the guy pulled out, the King motioned for him to stop by the driver, "Hey, sucks about the engine, I have a ride though, good luck!" Then the scooter pulled off.

As they rode deeper into the city, they swerved through piles of horse droppings, and people cleaning them up off the road. The King shouted up front jokingly "More horses than I remember last time I was here" Though it wasn't much longer before they pulled up to the front of the Hotel.

"Thank you, you are a fine citizen, you just saved the day of the King of Darjistan" The King thanked the driver.

"I knew you looked familiar your Highness. I'm glad I could help." and he scooted off.

King Dizhwar turned and saw The Royal and Imperial King Jason of San Lumen, The Queen, and another gentleman waiting there, looking somewhat bewildered. He approached King Jason with outstretched hand, and a smile. "I'm sorry for my tardiness your Royal and Imperial Majesty, it has been a very long day. I have been looking forward to this for some time." King Dizhwar then greeted the Queen with two cheek kisses, and shook the hand of the other gentleman who was also part of the reception.

King Jason, Queen Catherine and Mayor Oswald were quite bewildered at the nature of King Dizhwar's low key entrance especially after the last two. King Dizwhar seemed taken aback at how young King Jason is. At only 24 he is currently the youngest reigning monarch in the world.
"It is quite all right Your Highness. You know the old phrase better late than never. Its an honor to finally meet you in person. I've heard so much about you. Welcome to the Kingdom.'' King Jason said shaking King Dizhwar's hand once more and giving a smile.
"Your Highness may I present the Honorable Parren Oswald Mayor of Vienna.'' King Jason said to King Dizhwar.
"Its a honor to meet you.'' Mayor Oswald said. King Dizhwar, the Queen and Mayor Oswald posed for a few pictures before the King headed inside to the lobby where the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra was playing. King Jason was wondering where King Edward of Celatoria and the leader of the Great Finnish Reich were and was hoping they would be arriving soon. If they didn't arrive shortly they'd get started as King Jason didn't want to keep those who had arrived waiting.

Pharaoh Mark Antony and Queen Cleopatra were milling about the lobby of the Hotel Imperial listening to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and drink cocktails. They were talking amongst themselves "Well they're a lovely couple and quite nice." the Pharaoh agreed and then let in with a bit of humor "Aren't we all blessed with good genes in San Lumen?" the Queen laughed and then both noticed the Emperor of the Grangale Empire had arrived. The Queen and Pharaoh both studied him having only seen pictures of him. Though Monaco-Ville-Nice having many trading partners in the East knew more of the Grangale Empire than most in the east there was still a bit of mystery that surrounded the Grangale Empire.

They Eventually made there way over to the Emperor and chatted with him for some time about the Grangale Empires new policy of opening themselves up to the west which Monaco-Ville-Nice strongly supported. They also talked about the Grangale Empires anti-piracy campaign and how that would aid the Empires business opportunities in the West. The Pharaoh then noticed King Dizwhar enter the Hotel Imperial and he warmly greeted him "Dizwhar! Good to see you. How was your trip?".

Emperor Julii was enjoying the music and a White Russian, his drink of choice since his university days, with his aids when he was approached by Pharaoh Mark Antony and Queen Cleopatra.

"We must compliment you on your arrival, that was quite an entrance." Emperor Julii commented with a smile. He then introduced his two aides, Colonels Shiro Kiryu and Rydea Almathea of the Imperial Guard.

The monarchs chatted about the Empire's new foreign policy direction, Emperor Julii explaining that it was a policy which his predecessor pushed for, and which he strongly agreed with. He also commented on the reformation of the 4th Imperial Fleet from a battle fleet to an anti-piracy patrol fleet was partly related to the new foreign policies.

Queen Cleopatra inquired as to what it was like in the Empire. Emperor Julii smiled and answered "We recall an old saying that went something like, 'One trip is worth 1000 travel books' We would be more than honored to host a visit and arrange for a tour of the Empire some time."

Emperor Julii noticed King Dizwhar's arrival, he noticed the three monarchs appeared to be on familiar terms and not wanting to barge in uninvited to the conversation, decided to wait till later for a proper introduction. Tonight, appearances was a big part as it was a night of first impressions for the Empire, tonight, the proper way was the only way. He went back to enjoying the music and his drink.
