Haytham Abd-Al-Ali brings his family to the prime attraction in Jeddah almost every year: The Al Nawras Resort, this year was no different. Except, that today he would find himself an actor on an international stage. The family woke early in the morning, with wife and daughter set up for the full spa treatment, while Haytham and his son Mahdi would visit the arcade in the hotel, go for a swim, and they'd all meet up for dinner.

After their swim, Haytham, and Mahdi went back to their room to change, in preparation for dinner, when his son handed him his trunks to drape over the towel rack, he was quite surprised when a USB stick fell to the ground.

"Mahdi, where did you get this?" The father yelled into the other room. The boy came running in to see what his father was talking about.

"Oh, I found it by the pool, I thought it might be candy, but it tasted horrible."

Haytham's first thought was to take it to the front desk, he figured the owner would probably come looking for it there, but he wouldn't have time to run to the other side of the hotel to drop it off before he was to meet with his wife and daughter.

The family sat to a 5 course meal, and Haytham had had plenty of beer to drink by the time the family came back to the room for the night. Inebriation enhances curiosity, and is prone to decrease, to some extent, idealism, even in the most noble of men - also intelligence to some extent. It is a combination of these factors that brought Haytham to check the contents of the USB stick on his laptop. Luckily he'd learned English at University. His eyes widened at the very first sight of the word "Classified" he knew it would be interesting, and couldn't turn away! He'd heard of The Grangale Empire, and The Seven United Provinces, but he'd never actually been to either himself. So caught up in the excitement, he emailed the contents to one of his friends from University who'd studied Political Science - it's through him that these documents then spread like wild-fire through Poli Sci circles at University level, and made their way to the Government HQ in Buraydah. The top had been blown though, by the time they reached the Government the contents of the email had already made its way outside the country.

Taban,

This is incredible! The Piracy problems in the Grangale Empire are all over the news, but while vacationing with the family in Jeddah, you'll never believe what I've stumbled upon! I thought this might interest you.

Aboard the GIS Venator, flagship of the 4th Imperial Fleet

Commodore Ramius was making the most of the rare down time that he had, it wasn't often that he had any time to himself, but while the Venator headed towards the base to the south, he had some time to relax. He was lying back on his cot reading a book titled Killzone: Ascendancy and drinking a cup of black milk tea when the XO burst into his quarters.

"Boss...*huff-huff*... you've got-"

"Hey calm down, what is it?"

"Turn on the radio..."

Confused, Ramius turned to his radio and turned it to the station Jintao said.

"...-Nightly News this is Johan Forrer. Tonight though an anonymous sources we have learned of a massive world wide organized piracy network stationed on an uninhabited island north of the Seven United Provinces-"

"FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-"

On the bridge of the Venator, radio operator Petty Officer Sayuri Ishida thought she heard something. "Did you hear something? Like someone screaming?"

Ragnar Naval Base, headquarters of the 3rd Imperial Fleet

"Now that we have an official 'OK' from the SUP, we'll use the Leviathan and the Scylla to deploy the 1st NBC Company to secure the nuclear dump site. The Leviathan will then remain on station to provide missile fire support if needed." Admiral Farenheights said to Colonel Fyodor Reznov of the Imperial Army.

Colonel Reznov was about to speak when the door to the briefing room burst open and one of Farenheights' aids ran in. "Sirs! We have a problem, there's been a leak!"

"Explain!" Farenheights demanded.

The aid walked to a radio in the briefing room and turned it on and to one of the commercial frequencies.
"-this island owned by the SUP has served as a secret nuclear waste dump."

"Colonel... I think Captain Hyakawa better get his men moving ASAP..." This... is BAD...

SUBJECT: Intelligence Leak

Urgent

It has come to out attention that there has been an information leak, as such it is only a matter of time before those in the Northern Outpost realize we are on to them, and we must take immediate action. Our NBC troops are en route to secure the dump site to prevent any pirates from running off with anything there. I have also ordered the 3rd Fleet to move into position where we can intercept any ships fleeing towards Grangale. If requested I will order the 3rd Fleet to completely surround and blockade the island. I will also fully cooperate with your naval forces in any operations concerning this matter. Further more the IIS undercover agents are pulling out.

OOC: Neoplanta was right, something had to been done to get things out of there in any way. This was the only thing I could think of, it might keep things going! =D

Message for the Grangale Ministry of Defense from the Dutch Ministry of Defense
~ Concerning Base at Nova Zembla

The Government of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces is terribly sorry and ashamed of this disaster. We are aware of the leak and its cause and are taking actions asap. We suggest it is better to act openly with the other ministries of defense from now on, the word is already out there so there is no gain in secrecy anymore.

The Dutch second fleet is always posted near the west of the island and will bring as many men ashore as possible. They will set up a safe zone around the dump site and defend the perimeter. The area is safe to enter, there is not radiation hazard at this time.

OOC: Not a problem, leaks like this can happen for real. I also added in the ties to organized crime to make room for other nations to get involved in this RP.

Directia, Aqualia Naval Base, Headquarters of the Imperial Navy of the Grangale Empire

Grand Admiral Vincent Belmont faced the cameras again. With the information leak and knowledge of the Northern Outpost spread though the world, with the Emperor away at Vienna, the Imperial Council decided to release a press statement regarding the matter. With Admiral Farenheights and Commodore Ramius both in the middle of operations, it was left to the commander of the Navy to make the statement.

"Greetings all, I am Grand Admiral Vincent Belmont, commander of the Imperial Navy of the Grangale Empire. As you may know we have been conducting operations in coordination with the Seven United Provinces against a large criminal establishment on the northern island of Nova Zembla, as well as conducting search and destroy operations in the eastern continent.

Some of you may be worried about criminal or terrorist elements seizing the nuclear materials stored there, and you needn't worry. We have deployed the 1st Nuclear Biological Chemical Warfare company in conjunction with troops from the SUP to secure these sites. Currently the navy of the SUP and our 3rd Imperial Fleet have blockaded the island and are preparing and air strike on the facility. Meanwhile the 4th Imperial Fleet has located what may be another such criminal trading post and is moving to investigate.

I would also like to take this time to commend Commodore Ramius on the rescue of most of the passengers aboard the cruise liner Celebration.

Finnally, I will close with a caution to the rest of the continent. These pirates have proven to be highly sophisticated and capable of operating in the most remote regions. If any nation falls prey to this scourge the Imperial Navy of the Grangale Empire will be more than willing to cooperate in any anti-piracy operation."

Off the coast of Punjab, aboard the GIS Venator

Ramius watched the broadcast as the Army units and fireteam Abel prepared for another raid on a discovered base. Too early, the masterminds behind this have already gotten away, I got a feeling there is something BIG going on behind the scenes here...

We have information that may interest you. As you likely know, we have been conducting an operation against the large organized crime and pirate base on Nova Zembla. Due to the information leak we had to withdraw our agents early and were unable to identify the masterminds behind this operation. However we have uncovered a large stockpile of weapons ranging from small arms to tanks, and have reason to believe that this was one of the supply channels which Dmitri Pavlov Alexeievich is acquiring arms.

We believe that there is a strong possibility that he is in contact with at least one of the masterminds behind this black market network, of which this piracy problem is only a part of. The IIS is willing to share any information we learn in regards to Alexejevich.

Alexandria-Monaco-Ville-Nice: Admiral of the Fleet Adama was sitting at his desk at Naval High Command. He was an older man in his late 60's but in pretty good shape, no doubt due to his continued love of sailing. He kept a trim beard which was graying but seemed to make his appearance that of a seasoned sailor more pronounced. He wore a fleet Admirals uniform with medals adorning seemingly every piece of cloth, making one wonder if the Admiral might be to top heavy. His office was that of most of the high officers, decorated in gold, jewels, and antiques speaking to the Empires glory in antiquity.

He sat going over reports of various naval movements in the Mediterranean when one of his young junior officers Commodore Thoth came into his office saluting and with important information from the SUP "Admiral we may have a serious problem in the SUP.". The Admiral looked up from what he was doing and spoke "One of there tin cans sink?". The Commodore chuckled and handed the Admiral a folder with the recent leak that had come out of Dajistan. The Admiral read it over and when he was finished handed it back to the and spoke "The Dutch station there 2nd fleet on Nova Zembla, pathetic they didn't even know this was going on for so long. I work hard everyday so we will never become so inept as to not know when a major operating base of piracy is on the same island as our fleet. I suppose the Grangale our new allies will have to clean up this mess with them. Offer the Grangale our token support but there is little more I can do with out fleets needed here at home. Make sure the other heads of the military receive this as well as the Queen.". Commodore Thoth saluted and left the office moving quickly to his task.

First Minister Helene Aremstrang was trying to get back to her local office in Copehagen when the Defense Minister rang. The hustle and bustle of overseeing the new territory was already complicating the fabric of the Accord, and the French Districts were trying to demand some concession over the region.

Once in her office, Helene and Abraham Lovell spoke over the recent reports coming from Darjistan. Abraham had no information as to how the information from the Provinces fell into the hands of Darji officials, but both were concerned about a security breach in New Amsterdam. As for the waste issue, Helene was obviously frustrated by the news that the Provinces had kept this silent, but knew the risk of the waste falling into other hands was a bit more pressing of a risk.

"You suggest offering support?"

"Abe, I doubt we can move any of our naval fleet out of position. We just got the third division in Copenhagen and the other two are monitoring the Northern Isle region."

"So, no support?"

"We can offer logistical support to both the United Provinces and the Grangale Empire." When Abraham began to protest, Helene cut off his thought. "Yes, I know the stadholder was a prick to you and the other delegates. But we should offer our assistance to any nation we can help, regardless of the leader of the state."

"Understood. Would we use the Highlands Airfield for support?"

"It's in the best area of the Eastern Isle to monitor the area around the island."

"What about the pirate issue?"

"It seems the Provinces and the Empire have that issue dealt with through their own working relationship. If asked, we can provide some support. However, I'd like the second division moved to the northern tip and monitor the shipping routes between us, the Finnish Reich and the Norway Protectorate. Just in case."

"Understood m'am."

Press conference by Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces
~Concerning Piracy

'Ladies and gentlemen of the press, I welcome you. We find ourselves in troubled times, and once again our nation seems to be in the center of it. I must apologize to all the Dutch citizens for that matter. As the whole world might know top secret information has leaked and revealed some nasty details. First, we own the largest nuclear dump site in the world. Second, pirates have established a base on top of it directly under the nose of our second fleet.'

'The island of Nova Zembla, called Nova Zembya in Russian, has been under Dutch attention for several centuries. One of our most famous explorers William Barentsz had to survive a whole winter on this barren island in the 16th century making it an important part of our colonial history. The former rulers of the island used it as a massive disposal site for nuclear waste, and when their rule fell the island became free to be claimed by anyone. Some knew of the waste, others did not, and therefore we decided to take it in under our wings. Greater part of the waste was buried under the surface and the rest was covered by a thick layer of polar ice. Knowing that the amount of waste was too big and unreachable to be cleaned we stationed the second fleet at the west side of the island and made sure not anyone could enter. However, concentrating on the west side of the island we failed to defend the eastern part. Now one of the biggest pirate trading camps are located overthere, with the risk of them misusing the nuclear waste to their advantage. This in combination with retreating polar ice revealing all the barrels of waste increases the chances of disaster.'

'At first the pirates, just like the rest of the world, did not know of the nuclear waste at all. However, with the leak in our ranks the pirates know just as any of you does. And that means....they know everything. This causes a serious threat, and a emergency cooperation has been set up between the Grangale navy and the Dutch navy. Our men are setting up a safety zone around the nuclear disposal site as we speak, which will be defended at all costs. The Grangale navy has entered the hotzone trying to clear the many barrels of nuclear waste that have been revealed by the retreating polar ice.'

A reporter of de Hollandsche Nieuwe asked the stadhouder if the leak was a terrorist or another kind of enemy of the state. The stadhouder replied. 'The leak was a very sorry coincidence. One of our high ranked officers made a terrible mistake because he acted like a human instead of the machine we asked him to be. Normally a mistake results in a reprimand and that is it. However in this case he was very unfortunate and might have caused indirectly an international disaster. That is all I will say about this matter.'

A foreign reporter from a nation unknown asked 'Why didn't you ask other countries to help clean the mess up?' The stadhouder frowned and replied 'Ofcourse we have thought about doing that, but till last summer the whole dump site has been covered by a very thick layer of polar ice. We knew there were barrels on the surface but not that there were so many. For the waste below ground it is a different story, we know exactly what horrors are hidden there. We never asked anyone because the amount is too great. It would take over 5000 bulk carriers to bring it all away. All nuclear storage facilities in the world together lack the capacity to store all this waste. The only reasonable option is to keep it all where it is now, without a bunch of pirates on top of it ofcourse.'

The stadhouder sat up straight in his chair, looked directly into the camera and said 'I can not emphasize this enough. This is not our nuclear waste! Ours is stored in high tech facilities with an incredible amount of care. This is the waste produced by former world powers lacking interest in cleaning their mess. We took this burden to try to save the world from a disaster. We could not just sit and wait till some idiot let it spill in the ocean!'

Question after question was asked, and they went on for hours while the marines on Nova Zembla were making haste with setting up a highly defended perimeter.
