Message for the Grand Ducal Ministry of Defense from the Dutch Ministry of Defense ~ Concerning proposal CLASSIFIED We are thankfull of your proposal, but the amount of nuclear waste located at the island can not be stored. The amounts are simply to big, otherwise we would have started the process decades ago. The Republic of the Seven United Provinces has many storage facilities located within its borders and can process a lot. However, not nearly enough for this issue. That is exactly the reason why the disposal site has been kept a secret. CLASSIFIED OOC: This is actually a true story about what is happening on Nova Zembya. However, not secret. The Soviet Union has disposed massive amounts of leaky barrels on and under the surface of the island. |

OOC: The island is Nova Zembla in Dutch, as SUP has been using it, and Novaya Zemlya in Russian. Just thought you should know. And yes, the Russian nuclear industry makes my hair stand on end, but what can you do about it... |

Alexandria-Monaco-Ville-Nice: Nelson Beaudelairen was laboring through his weekly press conference with press from around the region. The Foreign Minister wasn't much for handling the press even when it came to talking about the one thing he loved, international politics. He always felt the job was better left to some talking head Press Secretary or publicist. Questions were relatively stock about questions about the Vienna Summit or Kuwait. Inevitably the questions started coming about the SUP and Nova Zembya, prompting the Foreign Ministers response. "The whole thing is a bloody disaster. I honestly wonder how the Stadhouder has any political legs to stand on still? He utterly failed with his remarks on Kuwait, utterly failed in his alliance talks, and now this mess. The SUP is literally the biggest liability it seems in the region. I understand the Dutch didn't create this mess, but since when did the dutch get to play god? Surely you would think they would reach out to more technologically advanced nations such as Ixzara, Byronmandy, or the Empire to assist them if not in removing the waste containing it. Surely the democratic thing to do would be bring it on the international stage and come up with a joint solution. The solution surely isn't pretend its not there and then station some inept fleet that can't even defend its oven territory and hope for the best. I can't imagine how the Stadhouder even plans on running for re-election. Seriously hope he wins again though! I don't get tired of reading about what new chaos or political misstep they created nearly everyday. It's entertaining truly, but for the sake of the region I have to hope he losses this next one." With that many in the crowd chuckled and then began working on there stories for tomorrows papers or today's news programs. Most of them with the headlines "Why did the Dutch do or say nothing?". |

Nuclear Waste Material Site No. 1, west Nova Zembla Originally Captain Hayakawa and his men were to be deployed to the via the 3rd Fleet's submarines, however the information leak made speed over stealth the priority and the were transported to the side via V-22. Hayakawa and his men had already donned their NBC warfare uniforms when they stepped off the Osprey. At the site Hyakawa was met by his SUP counterpart. "Captain Hyakawa of the Imperial Army 1st NBC Warfare Company." Hyakawa said holding out his hand. "Lieutenant Falco Sievert." Sievert said taking Hyakawa's hand. "As you can see we set up a wide perimiter here to prevent any pirates or gun runners from seizing any nuclear materials." Hyakawa looked around and commented. "You seem to have only light weapons." He commented. "We're only expecting foot soldiers and unarmored vehicles." The other answered. "Well, we brought some heavy stuff just in case." Hayakawa said gesturing towards some of his men carrying a crate of FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile launchers and FIM-92 Stinger anti-air missile launchers. Merchant ship Marathon "Hey look at that, the entire fleet came out to see us" Imperial Navy Marines Petty Officer Kowalski said looking out the bridge's view ports. "What are you yammering on about?" Ensign Sergei Baranova asked, reclining in the captain's chair. The marines had taken the ship and rescued the hostages aboard with little incident and was now on course for Ragnar Naval Base. He sat up and looked out the view port and there indeed just off the horizon was a large group of ships. He grabbed a pair binoculars that were hanging off the chair and looked at the ship in the center. "Yeah that's the Valhalla all right..." As if on cue, the ship was being hailed by the fleet. "...This is the GIS Valhalla of the 3rd Imperial Fleet, Identify yourselves..." Baranova went to the ships radio and put on a head set dialed in the frequency used by the Imperial Navy and hit the transmit button. "Ah, this is Ensign Sergei Baranova of the Imperial Navy Marines and acting-captain of the Marathon. We have successfully rescued the hostages aboard this ship and are en route to Ragnar Naval Base... as per our mission..." There was a moment of silence before the Valhalla responded "Copy that, continue with you mission, you will be informed of the situation during debriefing. That is all." What the hell could have happened that the whole fleet mobilized...? Baranova thought. Aboard the GIS Valhalla, flagship of the 3rd Imperial Fleet of the Grangale Empire Admiral Farenheights watched the hustle and bustle on the flight deck from the ship's bridge. Down on the flight deck, the MiG-29Ks and the AH-1Ws were preparing to launch their air strike against the Northern Outpost. They given a map with the location of the dump sites, and his pilots were given strict orders to ensure that no ordinance landed there. No only were their own people down there, but large amounts of waste spilling into the ocean would be a disaster. The MiGs would fly in and strike the larger targets while the Super Cobras would fly in and clean up anything else that was still standing. Several other MiGs were also loaded with anti-ship missiles in the event that any fleeing ships were armed and refused to surrender. It was only a matter of time now, in less than an hour the fleet would be within striking range of the island. |

Commodore Ramius actually appreciated all the noise and commotion happening up north. It gave the pirates something to think about and might even put them in a panic, and it was a paniced enemy that made mistakes. And it was an enemy that made mistakes that was much more easily played. Ramius and Jintao were reading though the stack of reports of the IIS that had built up and over flowed out of the inbox, and both had noticed something very interesting. Most of the hijacked merchant ships belonged to a multinational shipping company owned by Neoplantan businessman named Ulrich Jürgen. The second interesting factor was that the CEO of Grangale Maritime Insurance an insurance company that specialized in insuring boats and ships, and just happened to be making a killing in thanks to the piracy issue, had made several recent business trips to Neoplanta. A country that the Empire had little contact with. The third bit of info was that while the IIS couldn't name the customer who bought the Celebration from the pirates, the buyer was identified as "Client UJ". "These two are connected somehow, they HAVE to be." Jintao said. "Seriously, it's just how, there's a link somewhere we've just got to find it." Edited by Grangale Empire, Jul 14 2011, 05:17 PM.

Message to the Imperial Intelligence Service of the Grangale Empire CLASSIFIED To: IIS From: The Royal Intelligence Service of the Grand Duchy of Veomo Subject: Dmitri Pavlov Alexeievich - Black Market To whom may it concern, The RIS thanks the information provided, as you may be aware we have been conducting extensive research on both the UDO and their leader, Dmitri Pavlov Alexeievich since his (self) proclamation. After the unfortunate leak of information, the subject became quite nervous, and during the past few days had been in constant contact to a Neoplantan magnate we have reasons to believe is part of the black market network. We are still unaware of his role on the entire scheme. His name is Ulrich Jürgen, owner of a multinational logistic company specialized on large cargo transport, the company is registered as "MLC". The RIS is willing to share any information we learn on this issue. Commander Nika Kurchenko has been assigned as your link to us. CLASSIFIED |

The Northern Outpost, Nova Zembla Admiral Farenheights walked through the wreckage of the base. The MiGs and Cobras had been thorough in their work and not a building was standing. He came across three Navy engineers inspecting the wreaks of several tanks and APCs. "You three seem pretty interested in that wreak, is there anything special about it?" One turned and spoke, a 2nd Lieutenant. "Yes sir there is. The way this APC has been put together, the construction methods looks like same methods used in our military factories..." "You're saying this was built in the Empire?" Farenheights said looking over the wreak. He wasn't an engineer and it just looked like any other destroyed piece of hardware. "Get these wreaks to the Valhalla and see if you can't figure out what factory they came from. And do it quietly." Inside a pirate base on the Punjab coast The assault was done in less than an hour. The pirate base where the Celebration was hidden and being converted into a giant yacht had been captured and the jamming from the Venator prevented them from getting a message out to their remaining cohorts. Ramius and Jintao looked up at the merchant ship next to the Celebration on it next to the name were the letters "MLC". "OK... how much you want to be that the hijackings involving MLC ships weren't hijackings at all?" Ramius said to his XO. The assault had been so swift and sudden that the pirates didn't have time to destroy much of intel at the base. From the intel gathered it appeared that someone at MLC had faked the hijackings of the MLC merchant ships to use them to hijack other ships. They also learned the location of the two ships from before had been changed and had their new location. "Get the IIS on the horn, tell them we got one of their ships and their base and none of them know it. We're going to pretend to be them for awhile, and use this ship to get a good look at what they got going on and finally figure out who's pulling the strings behind all this. |

Message to the Royal Intelligence Service of the Grand Duchy of Veomo TO: Commander Nika Kurchenko FROM: Agent Jinghua Li, Imperial Intelligence Service of the Grangale Empire SUBJECT: Ulrich Jürgen and MLC Classified Greetings, I am agent Jinghua Li, and I've been assigned as your link to the IIS. Recently the 4th Fleet assaulted and captured a pirate base in Punjab. They were able to secure a merchant ship being used by the pirates to attack other ships. From the intelligence we've gathered there is a possibility that the hijackings of the MLC ships were staged as to make them disappear, and later be used for piracy efforts. While a link to Jürgen has yet to be established, there is evidence that someone within the company is behind the piracy part of this network. We have attach a copy of the pertinent file. ---Attached--- The head office still remains unawares of the status of the 'missing ships' there is no need to concern yourself with the corporate board. Despite the destruction of the Northern Outpost, continue your efforts. The operation will be relocated to the new Outpost once construction is complete. UJ demands to know when the work on his ship will be completed. Payment for your efforts will still be delivered at the usual time and place. |

The raadspensionaris sat on the other side of a table looking directly in the eyes of the stadhouder, he said '... but you just said that some did not know of the nuclear waste, but others did.. Who are the others?' The stadhouder sighed 'Several decades ago the nation was still young and inexperienced, I might say she still is. Leaving the homeland for war had surely taken its toll and thrown us back far. The land we got stuck in has nothing, it is a waste of space actually. The climate is harsh, strategically its a failure, and it is much too big. We were used to one of the best locations in the world, and now we are here. The government was tricked by other nations into taking the island of Nova Zembla as a protectorate, this would mean there was anything strategic left. However when the Seven United Provinces had it under control, the truth came out. Our former leaders were tricked again. Ashamed as they were they kept it silent, and tried to control the dangerous parts of the island. When our generation took over we just continued the old ways somehow.' The raadspensionaris frowned 'But who tricked us back then?' The stadhouder replied 'I am not sure of that, nobody knows actually. The Dutch government was not approached openly, we only know that several nations were in it and that some were from far away. That is all the information I have.' A bit puzzled the raadspensionaris changed the subject 'Sir, are you aware that many international leaders are disliking you? I mean we have not many friends left' The reply was 'I know, I have been working on that for years, because it will make the transition easier.' 'Excuse me?' the raadspensionaris asked. 'This conversation is over, you can go now' were the words the stadhouder used to end the meeting. |

Message from the Grangale Imperial Council to the Dutch Ministry of Defense TO: Dutch Ministry of Defense FROM: His Majesty's Imperial Council SUBJECT: Nova Zembla With the word of the nuclear waste dump site now out and circulating it is safe to assume that the island will become the target for terrorists and criminals seeking nuclear material for whatever nefarious activities. With His Majesty away at Vienna, we have been given the authority to act on this matter. To this end we propose a joint facility to be built on the island both to secure the nuclear waste, and to deter any other criminals from calling the island home. We would be willing to place the island within the 3rd Fleet's patrol zone until the facility is fully operational. We suggest an air strip and port facilities for such a facility. In addition the facility could be used to build a proper storage or disposal facility to ensure that no materials leak into the ocean. |
