Match Orange versus Darjistan

Provincetown, North Chicanan - The impossible has happened, Orange has lost! Losing a thing the legion is not used to endure. We asked a man dressed as an Orange indian what he thought about the game. 'Well obviously the game sucked balls, but Darjistan won honestly I suppose. Did they? I have not seen any Darjistani supporters though... I suppose they wear green right? I wanted to offer some of them a drink, but I am not sure if they are allowed any alcohol. Ah well, we are doomed to drink it ourselves then HAHAHA!'

Against all odds last night had the biggest party of all, most supporters are returning to the Seven United Provinces after the weekend, and it seems they wanted to push out one last night of festivities. All night the streets of Provincetown were filled with people singing the Dutch national anthem and many locals heard it so often during the last couple of days they can sing along without making mistakes. The local pubs and bars surely will miss the Dutch, it is rumoured that some have made more profit in a single weekend than they do during a normal season.

We are sad to inform you that out of approximately 110.000 Dutch supporters 15 have been arrested for misconduct. The Dutch government stated that after they have served their sentence in North Chicanan their punishment will be doubled at home. 'Malbehaviour will not be accepted, especially not during festivities abroad. We stimulate our citizens to export a good atmosphere but we intervene if they fail to behave themselves as proper guests.' stated the Dutch minister of Justice.

The tournament may officially not be over yet, but for us it is. North Chicanan, thank you very much for a great time!

Battle for the Chicanan Open today!!

Provincetown, North Chicanan - The Imperial find themselves once again battling host North Chicanan for the Open title after dismantling New Sargassos 4 - 0. This certainly will be a hotly contested match after the Imperials defeated North Chicanan in the last open, leaving home fans wanting revenge. The Imperials have played well over the duration of the tournament and have only been matched skill wise it seems by North Chicanan prompting head coach of the Imperial side Fabian Arestes to say "This isn't the same North Chicana side we faced last year. This team hasn't lost a match for the duration of the tournament, they're skilled and have home field. We're confident in our abilities to play the game and win, however we must respect the home side. We have high priced superstars that play for major clubs in the Empire and beyond, we can't let that get to our head. North Chicanan is a program on the rise and they can beat any given team on any given day.". Imperial fans can catch all the action on the Imperial News Network.

(ooc: look, a rp! this takes place before the NS World Cup 56 Qualifying, where we're 4-1-1 so far and maybe in the hunt for a playoff slot).

North Chicanan Daily Rabbler

Hoops Hoping For Cup Win
Arica Longstreet, St. John's

The North Chicanan National Team might be the 69th best team in the NS world, but they only finished 3rd in the Mediterranean during the first Chicanan Open.

National coach Josiah Rhys-Williams is bound not to let a second shot slip through.

The unofficial regional championships happen tonight with a fired up Hoops hoping to cap their pre-qualifiers by capturing the Kodiak Cup and keeking Monaco-Ville-Nice from getting the double. The team, based only on the national side rather than the Olympic team, has played with more fire than seen during their failed run for World Cup 55. However, thanks to their surprise Sweet 16 run at Cup of Nations, Rhys-Williams has the side looking to keep the Cup at home.

"Of course we want to win! The Imperials are an amazing side and beating them would do wonders within the region. But I'm most pleased with how well we've done so far during the cup - especially with the overtime win against Darjistan - and hope this builds up towards a successful World Cup run."

Captain James Pratt agreed, saying the Hoops were thrilled how well teams through the region had treated the tournament and the side felt more ready for qualifying than they had during WC55, even with the Baptism of Fire helping their cause.

"But," Pratt noted, "we are getting used to playing on the big stage against the best of the NS world. We gotta take care of things at home now."

Betters seem unsure of which way the match will go, although the early line did give Monaco-Ville-Nice a 5-4 advantage before seeing North Chicanan as high as 2-1 odds. MNV has recovered a bit, sitting at 3-2 favored odds.

In the third place match at the National Park, the betters have Darjistan pounding New Sargossos, with the newest nation in the region sitting at 100-1 odds to finish third in the tournament.

As for future action, the next Chicanan Open will retain the name, but the FA has come up with a plan with the NCOC for a few other team sports to organize a regional games. Pro20 Cricket has signed off on the plan, with many figuring the Northern Rugby Union, NC Gridiron and Northern Lacrosse to come aboard. No dates have been set nor has the OC announced if others will be involved in the plan.

Even in war and chaos, we have football to play!

THIRD PLACE MATCH
Darjistan 1-0 New Sargossos

CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
North Chicanan 2-2 Monaco-Ville-Nice (2-2 AET, 5-4 Penalties)

North Chicanan captures the second Chicanan Open on penalties, Monaco-Ville-Nice takes the Silver Plate as runner-ups and Darjistan leaves the islands with the Third Plate (and corresponding medals for the sides)

The Third Chicanan Open probably will occur in late August/early September!

Al-Nezee Sports
- 28 July 2011

The Desert Foxes celebrated almost as if they had won the championship in their 3rd place win over New Sargossos. They certainly didn't come into the North Chicanan Open thinking they would come out with first place, given the storied pasts of the two would-be finalists - even third place seemed an impossibility, since Darjistan hadn't prior to this tournament had a national football squad. So, with third place, the staff, players, and indeed the nation took to a few days to partake in non-stop celebration. Parties in the streets of Buraydah, Tabuk, Medina, and Jeddah went on from sun-up to sun-down daily - since alcohol is banned in Darjistan, free apple juice, water, and Darjorade (Darjistan's most popular sports drink) were served at 1 Darli a cup, prices reduced to recognize the great job by the team.

After the match, head coach Yasser Abdullah spoke on behalf of the team to the press. "This has been a wild success in our books. It sets a high standard for the next NC Open which we will surely be in attendance. Anything less than third place now will be a complete failure on our part, and the players will risk serious bodily harm [from the government, and some of the population] if they wind up coming home empty handed, as will I for that matter, so there are a lot of practices ahead in our future. We would like to thank North Chicanan for organizing, and hosting this event, and all the participants who made it an exciting tournament. We look forward to facing all these squads again next time."

The team arrives back in the Darji capital city Friday afternoon, where a modest parade is being planned.
