Admiral Uzun's forces were now being held at the western bank of the Bosphorus, while to the east Vice-Admiral Prince Alexi was preparing a major offensive against Commodore Burakgazi. Squadron Admiral Utkin would be his reinforcement, and suggested Prince Alexi to contact the Grangale's forces since they had begun to incursion to east. Besides the RIS had just informed that a POI was hidding on Burakgazi's territory.

Meanwhile a NCIS team was getting on board of the cruise-liner Gerveroux.

The conference room in the Presidential mansion was filled with numerous important people this morning. The President, Chief Senator, General-in-Chief, as well as various politicians were gathered to discuss the cease-fire and what the future would hold for Byronmandy.

So far only small talk had been made, but when William Derring, a Senator from Lisbon began to speak, the mood went immediately to business:

“Mr. President,” he said, looking directly at Alex Wayne, “I personally don’t get why we had to call for this cease-fire. No Imperial troops have ever entered Byronmandy and they never will!”

A few people began to speak in agreement. The president raised his hand, and then the whole room went quiet again before he took his turn:

“Mr. Derring, I understand your anger. No one here wants to give up. But the thing is, we’re not giving up. We just have to make rational decisions when it comes to important choices like this. Yes our troops are in excellent defensive positions in the mountains right now; yes we still have an unharmed manufacturing sector to supply them, but we have to face the facts. As of now, we have 180,000 army troops defending the southern border of Algeria, but MVN has 260,000 troops still on the front.

No one wants to give in, and I assure you, that was this war a fair one, we would have won. But this war is not an equal one. We are at a large disadvantage. MVN has an ally, we don’t. MVN cowardly destroyed seven of our divisions without cause or reason. That left us with a huge disability when the shooting began. Our troops fought hard, and were only defeated because the empire of Monaco-Ville-Nice was too scared to face us in an equal contest. They attacked us before any diplomacy or declaration of war was made. Then they violate the neutrality of a nation and bully them into giving in to what they want. The massacre of Rhodes and the attack from Tunisia are the only reasons that we are not winning right now.

This just shows the world how MVN works. To me, MVN is just the stereotypical dictatorship that has a boatload of soldiers and money that they don’t know what to do with.”

The entire room cheered and nodded in agreement. General Erwan was the next to speak:

“Yes, well anyway sir, I think it was an excellent decision on your part to call for this cease-fire. Hopefully this should allow for some much needed diplomacy to take place.”

“Indeed,” said Secretary Adair, who had just walked into the room (OOC: assuming that this meeting takes place right before the phone call to NC). “I also hear word that North Chicanan might mediate the coming talks. I think Byronmandy would find that completely acceptable, don’t you Mr. President?”

“Of course. I will be departing for North Chicanan as soon as an announcement is made regarding the matter.”

TO: Vice Admiral Prince Alexi of the Grand Duchy of Veomo
FROM: Commodore Iskander Ramius of the Imperial Navy of the Grangale Empire
SUBJECT: Congratulations

I recently heard that you have been assigned your own fleet to command. From one naval commander to a another, I congratulate you on your command. I look forward to seeing what you can do out there.

Commdore Iskander Ramius
Commander, 4th Imperial Fleet

--- Spearhead Base, former Ixzaran Republic ---

Final preparations were being made for Colonel Kemal's final big push towards General Metran's HQ. His former base had been renamed Spearhead Base, as it was being used as the springboard into his territory. While the war against Byronmandy called off for the time being, 10,000 men including an armored unit from the 3rd Army stationed near Istanbul would be participating in the attack, as well as a squadron of Rafales and a squadron of Tornado IDS from the 5th Air Fleet. The missiles, gunships and Harriers of the 4th Fleet would also be supporting. Only a few hundrend would attack the main base itself, the others would attack the other surrounding bases to prevent reinforcement to Metran's HQ.

But before the attack could be launched there was one matter that Kemal had to deal with. He had a large number of POWs captured from Metran's army as well as a large number of deserters from his army. He couldn't just leave them in Spearhead, and they might cause trouble in Istanbul. After a while or raking his brain, he decided to send the men to Istanbul under the auspices of the Imperial Army Corp of Engineers and figured they could put them to work.

Flanked by the Second Grand Ducal Fleet, Prince Alexi of Krasnodar was heading towards the enemy lines of Burakgazi. His plan was simple, destroy both ships and morale of the remaining of Burakgazi's Fleet, while bombarding strategic defense points over the shore. Once the north anatolian shores become safe, the combined air wings of the Krasnodarian Fleet and the Second Fleet, would fly inland destroying targets detected as arms and munition factories.

On board of the Clemenceau Class aircraft Carrier, a unit of the Spec Ops of the Grand Ducal Guard was preparing themselves, for they had a special mission. The RIS had spotted a POI on Burakgazi's territory, and would be their job to deal with him as silently as possible.

The Spec Ops would be dropped that night, and on the morning the air strike would begin.

Meanwhile, during a break on the emergency meeting, the Grand Duke was informed on the preliminary findings of the NCIS team. Apparently the massacre of the Gerveroux was a result of Uzun's forces raiding the ship. Bullet shells and a ton of fingerprints, later compared with the surviving registers of the armada office in Istanbul would confirm this preliminaries.

"Prepare the Claim of Arsalan" were the final words of the Grand Duke before returning to the meeting.

TO: Commodore Iskander Ramius of the Imperial Navy of the Grangale Empire
FROM: Vice Admiral Prince Alexi of Krasnodar
SUBJECT: Re:Congratulations

Thank you Commodore Ramius for your words, I have learned a lot with your fleet for what I thank you.

Sincerely,
Prince Alexi of Krasnodar
Vice-Admiral of the Krasnodarian Navy

---------------

--Noon - Somewhere of the Black Sea--

Prince Alexi eager to begin, the timing was perfect, the recent attack of the Grand Ducal Navy to Burakgazi's rear left a almost complete demoralized fleet. A perfect target to a first command. With the assistance of the second fleet of the Grand Duchy, it wouldn't take long to control those waters.

Prince Alexi ordered the attack. It had begun.

When the orders to begin the attack came through to the bridge of the Second Fleet flagship, Squadron Admiral Utkin smiled.

"Battle positions. Let's clean these waters a bit"

The second was moving, the air wing was flying just ahead, 22 A4M Skyhawks that took off from the flagship of the second fleet the proud HHS Hawknest.

General Metran's HQ was a former Ixzaran Army base situated in a mountainous region. Though the area was not so bad that heavy vehicles could not reach it, but the roads ensured that heavy vehicles would have to travel single file. The base was massive, half was built into the mountains, a large sprawling complex, and even included an air strip.

Captain Roy Mikoyan rolled and put his Rafale into a tight turn and brought the fighter right onto the F-16's tail. A diamond appeared on his HUD and rapidly beeped as it moved across the HUD. The diamond moved over the box bracking the F-16 and the beeps became a solid tone, and Mikoyan pushed down the trigger beneath his thumb sending a Matra Mica missile right into the F-16 turning the fighter into a fireball. He didn't have much time to think about it, as the missile lock alert began buzzing in his ear and he threw the fighter into a tight turn and dropped flares, the flares succeeded in dupeing the incoming Sidewinder, and the more agile Rafale was able to shake off the F-16. As he did with the other F-16, Mikoyan brought this fighter into his sights, this time, along with the diamond, a round gear-like reticule with a dot in the center floated across his HUD. He pulled the trigger beneath his finger and the Giat 30 30mm cannon roared to life, sending a hail of 30mm shells that shredded the F-16.

While the Rafale's were dogfighting in the skies above Gen. Metran's HQ, the Tornado IDSs flew in at low level in several waves, the first wave of four Tornados stuck at the base's defenses, the radars, the SAMs and the AA guns. The base was well defended, and two of the Tornados were shot down, but the attack left the base defenseless none the less.

Lieutenant Millia Hawker could see the explosions at the base indicating the defenses were being taken out. She also noticed an armored unit on the ground, and ignored them, her mission, and the mission of the other three Tornados had nothing to do with them. Her particular mission was to destroy the runways, to this end her Tornado was equipped with a bomblet dispenser. Her Tornado roared over the runways dispensing miniature bombs that cratered the runways putting them out of commission. The other Tornados dropped armored piercing bombs on bunkers, others dropped regular dumb bombs on to hangars and other buildings. While the eight Tornados decimated the base itself, the last four of the squadron attacked the tanks that had deployed from the base, softening them up for the in coming Imperial armor units. Once the Tornados has launched their ordinance they were RTB.

A few miles to the east as a small port town, and advancing on this town were four Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates of the warlord Commodore Burakgazi. The ships were spotted by the six Sea Harriers of the Venator, lead by Commander Hikaru Nakajima, who gave the order to attack. The Harriers dove in on the ships like angry bees, letting loose with their Sea Eagle anti-ship missiles. In a matter of minutes it was all over. Burning wreaks of what had been warships slipped benath the waters. Nakajima wondered what the ships were doing there, were they stragalers? Or perhaps... they were there to pick someone up?

The Type-10 tanks of the 3rd Imperial Army Armor Regiment made their way across the mountainous terrain. In a moment General Metran's tanks would be within fireing range of their 120mm guns. Once within range, Liutenant Cheng Wei, commanding the lead tank, gave the order to fire on Metran's M-60Ts. With an observation helicopter, spotting, the Type-10s were deadly accurate, even in rought uneven terrein. Following the tanks were trucks and APCs carrying the bulk of the infantry troops.

Alpha Squad was tasked with secureing the air field. While the run ways were destroyed, VTOL aircraft like the V-22 were still able to land. While the others fanned out, she and another made their way to the control tower where she could cover the entire air field. In the bulding and up the tower, they had to fight their way up, against a few survivors. Hatsumomo demostrated that she was just as accurate and dangerous with her Five-seveN pistol as with her Mk.14 EBR. Upon reaching the tower she provided sniper suport fire while her squad member covered her back.

From the east was an additional squadron of F-16s moving to engage the Imperial forces, and the Rafales, moved to intercept. By this time the Tornados were RTB and in the chaos, three armored cars left, traveling east at full speed.

Captain Hakha swore as he pounded his fist on General Metran's desk. The attack was a stunning... partial success... While the warlord was dealt a severe blow, he had managed to escape. Still without the loss of his main base, his power would be exponentially on the wane.

The Harriers had returned to the ship, and after they had left, a yaht departed from the port town unnoticed, traveling east.

Hatsumomo and the rest of Alpha barely had time to rest when Captain Hakha ordered them back into a V-22 and off to some villa near the coast. She wasn't sure what had lit a rocket under his butt, but he wanted them on their way. Sargent Sevchencko was receiving his orders over the radio as they flew.

"Alright people, our mission is to capture Kenneth Baker, former CEO of ArmsTech Defense Industries and one the main guys behind that black market network the 4th Fleet was tearing up. Apparently he set up shop out here just before the central government collapsed and he's suspected to have something to do with the whole collapse." Sevnchenko announced. The sergeant then looked at Hatsumomo, we don't quite know what to expect other than Metran's probably let him know his HQ came down, hopefully the man hasn't panicked and taken off. So before we fast rope down, I'll need you to look though that glorified telescope of yours and tell me what you see."

Less than an hour later, the V-22 was hovering around the villa. Wow I wish I lived there... she thought. "Alright Saito, what do you see down there." Hatsumomo looked though her night visions scope and... HUH?! Are they... Veomo spec ops? "Sarge I think someone beat us to him..." She said handing the rifle over to Sevchenko.

Sevchenko looked though the scope and zoomed in on one of the soldiers. "Yeah those are Veomo guys alright, guess we flew out here for nothing..." Sevechenko said handing the rifle back to it's owner.

Just as she reached to retrieve the rifle, she noticed some lights in the corner of her eye. She aimed the rifle at them and took a look. "Uh oh, looks like they're going to need our help..." She said as four APCs pulled up to the estate and about 32 soldiers piled out of them. She lined her shot on one of the soldiers, a headshot waiting to happen, "Let me know when Sarge..."

Helene and Jason spoke in the small conference room atop the Government Tower. The nation's mood had lightened after the air disaster. While the investigation was still going on and no one was sure why the crew's calls were not voiced to those in the air fight, many expected a resolution shortly. Further, the national football team had made the World Cup playoffs after leading their group for much of the qualifying period - a slight disappointment but considering the side started 69th in the world and beat eventual group winner Cosumar twice, but looking at maybe making it in their second try would be impressive.

Anyways.

Jason and Helene were discussing the slight peace that had hit the region due to Byronmandy calling for a ceasefire. As the demands of Monaco-Ville-Nice was met, they decided to reissue the invitation to the nations of the the region to St. John's for a discussion as to the future of the Anatolian region.

"Any word on the happenings in Vienna?"

"Not much, Jason. The reports are that they are more receptive towards holding the conference now and staying focused on the former Ixzaran region."

"Tis progress, I guess. How about the investigation?"

"Still inconclusive, the audio still has some problems towards the missile strike."

"That would be a problem."

"Of course. I've asked the minders of the Old House if we could hold the conference there. It's a bit out of the way so transport would be a bit longer, but would let the delegates and leaders see the city more and see where their embassies are at."

"I do like the idea, the Old House has two large conference halls for meetings so the Vienna group could work on issues outside of our presentations."

"Yeah, and there's several small rooms for office meetings and keeping the staffs of each state maintained."

"I approve. I'll have Gio reissue the invitation to the whole region, so we can have more input to a plausible solution to the conflict and to dealing with the Anatolian region."

--------------------------------------------------------

The invites hit the desks of the Secretaries of State or Foreign Ministers nearly instantly. North Chicanan still wanted to be a leader in the region in mediating conflict and helping to bring some stability back, and hoped that this conference would be more successful than the failures in the United Province.

(ooc: should the conference be held in a separate thread or in this thread?)
