It was dusk when the Grangalian forces arrived at Istanbul. Explosions across the city were easily visible with the sun going down. Kemal's forces were desparately trying to hold the air port, and several Grangalian Rafales swooped down to eliminate any forces pushing towards the air port. The cargo planes had to take evasive action but were able to touch down safely and a command center was quickly set up at one of the terminals.

Colonel Sergei Windamier the over all commander of the Imperial forces was personally met by Colonel Kemal. Kemal approached Windamier with an extended hand, "I hear my brother-in-law asked for your help?"

Windamier shook his hand and answered. "That's right, our job is help secure a safe zone for people fleeing from the warlords and the genocide."

Windamier could see the question forming in Kemal's mind. "This is just the first wave, we're here to secure the city. The second wave will be inbound once the city is secured and will back your troops up in defending and securing your command."

"To show that we're not just here to take over, we will deffer over all command to you." Windamier added.

"So what does the Empire get out of this?" Kemal asked.

"We're working to establish relations with nations in the west and we feel a humanitarian mission here would go a ways to establish a positive image for us." the other answered." Windamier's tone then grew more somber. "How are the people doing? Your brother-in-law said it was really bad."

"It is, we're caught between two warlords, we're low on food and medical supplies. Colonel Sami to the south has been pushing north and has been carrying out genocide on various ethnic groups. Across the country it's no different." Kemal shook his head an sighed. "You said you're here to help secure the city? This way, there is much planning we have to do."

General Fitzzwallace and Secretary Benson had heard of what was going in the former Ixzaran Republic however securing the former territory of Neoplanta was first priority. Romania had already requested to rejoin the Kingdom. Eastern Slavonia had been retaken with no loss of life and General Fitzzwallace was proud of this fact. The citizens of Eastern Slavonia seemed pleased to be back under the control of the House of Habsburg. The question remained though should they make an attempt to retake Vojvodina and thereby Petrovaradin Fortress and Belgrade as well? General Fitzzwallace however did not want the country to be seen as aggressors.

Helene considered the option Beaudelairen gave about working more on Neoplanta, and while not as pleased with the results she figured it would get the state in the region. However, she got a note handed to her from her secretary which surprised her a bit.

"I do apologize, and I do look forward from hearing from Minister Ptah about joint operations while our naval groups move towards Monetengrin Neoplanta...Yugoslavia...whichever, we have word that San Lumen has allowed the Romania province back into their Kingdom. Were you aware of such plans occuring? As you know, our sources in Neoplanta were being built up before the rioting and we're are a bit in the dark with the dealings outside of Serbia, Montenegro and Herzegovina - where our main linkage points are still present."

She had seen the reports of Serbia looking for recognition of independence and merger with Montenegro, and was already concerned that San Lumen was moving into a position like that of Veomo. And she still needed San Lumen to keep the Veomese from fully annexing the Ukraine. So of course such issues needed a block and if she could manage using the Imperials, she would do it.

At the Grangale Empire, RIS Commander Nika Kurchenko requested a meeting with her counterpart of the IIS, Agent Jinghua Li.

"I've heard rumors that a couple of aircrafts arrived from Ixzara recently, requesting the Empire's assistance." she begun saying."Is there anyway the Grand Duchy may assist on your mission? By the way, your troops arrived safely at Istanbul?" the surprise on Jinghua Li's face was the proof that she didn't expected Nika to be so well informed on the Empire's movements.

Meanwhile the Black Sea was under constant patrol by the 1st and 2nd Fleets of the Grand Ducal Navy. Krasnodarian and Veomese merchant ships were heavily escorted while sailing.

Admiral Murdoch was arranging a meeting with the commander officer of the Neoplantan Fleet on the Black Sea.

In Ukraine, the fall of Neoplanta and the disappearance of Ulrich Jurgen, was a major blow to the UDO, nonetheless the greatest blow was the arrest of Dmitri Alexeievich and several of the big fishes of the party on the recent covert op of the Grand Ducal army. Now Ukraine was effectively a protectorate of the Grand Duchy, and now the Parliament was discussing the upcoming elections, and the agenda for Ukraine.

At the Ministry of Defense the Collegium was receiving the confirmation of the successful evacuation of the last V-22 transporting the Grand Ducal delegations and nationals. It had just made contact with the HHS Catarina over the Black Sea.

The 1st Fleet also informed that the Bosphorus and Istanbul were under a blockade from the Ixzaran Navy, although it seemed debilitated by the faction's battles.

Jinghua Li quickly composed herself, surprised at how much the RIS knew of Operation Oasis.

"Yes that's correct. Several airliners of what used to be Ixzaran Air flew to the Empire requesting asylum and assistance for a Colonel Ridvan Kemal. In fact they landed here at Murska Air Base, and the captain of one of the airliners was brought to Directia to explain the situation to the Imperial Council."

"Kemal was commander of the Ixzaran Army unit responsible for defending the district Istanbul is located in. He's still there trying to defend the citizens in his district from warlords and set his HQ up at Istanbul. Pretty stubborn guy it seems, as far as he's concerned he was never given an order to stand down. Our troops arrived there safely just moments ago, and the commander has already set up a command center at the air port." Jinghua continued.

"For now we have adequate troops for our mission, but we appreciate the offer. Operation Oasis's objective is to secure Colonel Kemal's district and set it up as a safe zone from the warlords. We also don't want to draw troops from you, given the situation in Ukraine and Neoplanta's collapse. Rouge elements from the former Ixzaran Navy in collusion with Colonel Sami have been attacking Kemal's position, but we brought a supply of AGM-123 anti-ship missiles for our Rafale squadrons operating out of the airport, needless to say, they will have a very bad day tomorrow."

---Meanwhile in Istanbul---

It was barely a couple hours since the Grangalians landed in Istanbul, and now they along side Kemal's troops were fighting to drive forces loyal to Sami out of the city. It was brutal urban combat, but with superior air support in the form of the two Rafale squadrons, the invaders were steadily driven from the city.

While his father was in Vienna, Crown Prince Henry had been given authority to issue orders in his father's name.

The Prince spoke "It doesn't seem that our request for calm and considered action has been taken to heart by other nations. What a pity.

Mr Bentham? I do believe that it would be wise to work with North Chicanan on this matter. We don't need Veomo stirring up any more trouble around there by doing something crazy, like outright annexing the Ukraine. Contact North Chicanan if you can, see if we can work something out.

Oh, and try to contact Byronmandy, find out what their position is. They haven't made a move yet, which is worrying."

"Yes, my Prince. Your father would have taken the same action."

Alexandria-Monaco-Ville-Nice: Foreign Minister Nelson Beaudelairen was talking with First Minister Helene Aremstrang of North Chicanan about San Lumen and there recent moves in the former Neoplanta. "Well all of Neoplanta was at one time part of San Lumens old Empire pre-1848, so there relationship is obviously a very close one. The people of Neoplanta do feel a certain oneness with those from San Lumen. Romania in particular was independent from Neoplanta for a time and maintained very strong ties to San Lumen. No doubt in this time of danger for Romania, the easy choice for them was to reach out to San Lumen for protection. With the instability in the Balkans I believe the citizens of Eastern Slovenia and Romania have found it a much better choice to enter into the House of Hapsburg once again than become independent countries.". The Foreign Minister than felt a need to assure the First Minister "I highly doubt San Lumen has anything but the best intentions for the Balkans. I doubt if a state in the Balkans seeks independence that San Lumen would force any sort of occupation on them. It's just not in there nature.". The Foreign Minister then asked the First Minister if she had heard any news on the Grangale Empires recent operation in Istanbul?

...........

HMS Suez, Somewhere in the Mediterranean: Imperial Marines were packed aboard the HMS Suez, an amphibious transport ship of the 5th fleet of the Imperial Navy. The alarms began sounding as many of the Marines were eating or resting in there rooms, cleaning there weapons for the fight that was to come. Officers quickly snapped to, getting there marines out of there rooms or out of the mess halls. Marines rushed to the armories on the ships getting there equipment, ammunition, and weapons, while officers screamed orders to "Hurry up!".

Private First Class Adham was one of these men. It was hard to know what was in front of him with so many Marines in a line in the tight hall way to the armory. Marines yelled in excitement and officers yelled orders to keep the line moving. The Private had never seen action before and was not excited like his comrades, rather he was quite scared. He just put his arm on the back of the man in front of him and pushed. Soon he was in the armory, a large square room where the entire arsenal for the marines was kept. Officers in the armory yelled to "Get your weapons and gear and get to the flight deck!". A armorer handed Private Adham a back pack filled with supplies, another man handed him a utility belt, then Adham made his way to a large bucket filled with grenades and picked up 3 and attached him to his belt, he then went to a gun rack and picked up his weapon of choice an AN-94 assault rifle. He then clamored up the stairs with his comrades where the sound of helicopters could unmistakeably be heard roaring on the flight deck. Walking up the narrow hallway to the flight deck was difficult with the many pounds of gear that Adham was now strapped with. The hallway shook from the power of the helicopters just above him. Once he made his way out to the flight deck it was defining, the many Sea King helicopters aboard the ship were all seemingly readying to take off. His commanding officer ordered his platoon to a helicopter and they all rushed inside the helicopter as fast as they could. Soon the helicopters began lifting off and Private First Class Ahmad would have his first taste of battle.

Naval aviation fighter bombers from the carriers of the 4th and 5th fleet flew over head both fleets to the shores of Mersin and bombarded the shores coastal defensive installations. Naval aviation fights flew overhead and cleared the air of any rogue Ixzaran fighters. While the air was secured, ships from the 4th and 5th fleet began bombarding the beach to clear it of any rogue elements of the Ixzaran army. As all the explosions turned the beach on fire, the first wave of helicopters from the Imperial Marines began flying in to Mersin.

Helene was not quite settled with Nelson Beaudelaire's words on San Lumen - history or not it looked like a land grab - but she took what she could.

"As for the Istanbul issue, we have not heard anything from our contacts on the ground. However, we have heard through informal channels the Grangale Empire is already conducting operations outside the city. We are concerned that they are involved in the matter, as they are further from the Republic than even we, and obviously we hope that any actions taken by the Empire maintains the security, stability and sanctity of the republic's borders."

She made sure to softly emphasize the "and" in the sentence. She had no interest in allowing the Empire, San Lumen, the Veomese or the Imperials to take advantage of the situation and grow their borders.

"Until we have contacted San Lumen, however, we cannot recognize the partition of Eastern Slovenia and Romania back to the Hapsburgs. Standard protocol, for we do hope all those involved in the process did so fairly. And we have authorized our naval fleet to move towards Montenegro to help with humanitarian efforts in the Serbia-Montenegro region. Hopefully San Lumen does not press any perceived advantage into trying to claim the region, as the people have chosen to strike alone and we would support their claims for independence as we did with New Sargossos and the UDO in the Ukraine."

Helene was once again interrupted by the secretary, then apologized to Nelson Beaudelaire that she unfortunately had to end the call. Cabinet squalling which she had to address them. She did say she would contact Beaudelaire later on, while also passing on greetings to the Pharaoh and the Queen and looking forward to speaking with them in the near future.

Once she finished with Monaco, she flipped the dial. "Mr. Bentham of Celatoria, to what do i owe this pleasure in speaking to you?"

Across the table, face to face with Commodore Ramius, was Ulrich Jurgen.

For several days, Ulrich was searching the waters around the Eastern Outpost knowing that the 4th Fleet was lurking in the area, and when he spotted the Venator, approached it with his merchant ship flying a white flag. At first Ramius thought the pirates had gotten brazen enough to attempt to board the Venator herself but instead it was Ulrich Jurgen wishing to make a deal.

They cleared out the officer's mess hall and the only occupants were Ramius, Ulrich and two marines guarding the entrance.

"The records you found at the Eastern Outpost are incomple Commodore, I'll give you everything, all the supply depot locations, all the contacts, all the clients, all the big shots running this whole operation, even one of the ones responsible for the Ixzaran collapse..."

"What?!" Ramius said, not bothering to hide his surprise.

"You heard right Commodore, everything, even one of the party's responsible for that nation's collapse..." Ulrich let that sink in for a moment before speaking again. "In exchange I want-"

"What?" Ramius said, not surprised in the least that there was a catch.

"Immunity... Immunity from prosecution from the piracy, and protection. You see it wasn't me who ordered those attacks, my vice-president, in collusion with another party ordered them behind my back. I'm not trying to make excuses, that is simply the truth. Also, the people I finger, won't be very happy with me if you catch my meaning." Ulrich explained.

"Who is this other party?"

"Ah ah, not till we have a deal." Ulrich countered.

"You're asking a lot..." Ramius retorted.

"And I'm giving a lot..."

Ramius sighed and spoke up again. "I don't have the authority to make this decision, but I'll have someone who does brought here, in the mean time, you'll understand when I tell you you'll have to say in the ship's brig for the time being."

"Of course."

This was big, that was for sure. The Ixzaran and Neoplantan collapse were the talk of just about everywhere, but no one really knew the cause, and now here was a guy who was willing to finger one of the parties responsible for that chaos, for a price. Ramius arrived at the bridge, "Jintao, tell Agent Li she needs to drop what she's doing and get out here, we've got a passenger she needs to talk to."

General Fitzzwallace and Secretary Benson requested a meeting with Prime Minister Dolores Lantingham in her office in Florence.
"General what is the situation in the former Ixzaran Republic?'' the Prime Minister asked.
"quite bad Prime Minister. As you know our Ambassador was assassinated in a car bombing at the embassy and several other governmental buildings were bombed including the Ministry of Science. I do have good news however.'' The General remarked.
"The Minister of Science Anastasia Barensky has been pulled out alive from the rubble. She is in serious but stable condition at a hospital in Istanbul." The General continued.
"Also the Neoplantan province of Romania has formally requested under their own volition to rejoin the Kingdom after breaking away 163 years ago. His Royal and Imperial Majesty has accepted the request.'' Secretary Benson remarked.
"It's nice to have good news from the region. If you could please get me the North Chicanan Ambassador. Also Mr. Secretary I would like you to begin preparations to evacuate citizens of San Lumen in the former Ixzaran Republic from the country.'' As Prime Minister she had some control over international relations but that area of power largely lies with the King. It was however her right to request a meeting with a Ambassador.
