Chancellor James Bentham was speaking to Helene Aremstrang of North Chicanan. "Am I speaking to Ms. Aremstrang?" "Yes." "Excellent. I have contacted you at this most critical time to make a suggestion. I believe that North Chicanan and Celatoria hold the same attitude towards what has happened. I am certain that neither of our countries desire any, shall we say, rushed military action on the part of any other countries. Whether it is unjustifiable expansion of territory, misinformed invasions or other such things. This brings me to the body of my proposal. If this is the position that North Chicanan also takes, then it may be worthwhile for us to forge a temporary military alliance, to be able to act with greater strength. If this is acceptable, I would propose that we send two military forces, one to Neoplanta with the aim of preventing San Lumen from seizing further territory. At least until such time that an open, democratic vote can be held on the fate of Neoplanta by Neoplantan citizens. The other would be sent to Ixzara with the aim of establishing law and order throughout the country in the short term. Istanbul seems to have been stabilised by the troops from Grangale, but as their intentions are not entirely clear, Celatoria does not wish to allow them too much control in that region. We believe that with a multilateral operation there can at least be no country holding too great a level of influence. We believe that, as North Chicanan and Celatoria appear to hold a rather similar ideology and, being as we have shared borders and Waters, we would able to effectively coordinate with one another. So, what is your opinion of this proposal?" |

Announcement from the Imperial Council of the Grangale Empire. Greetings, I am Councilor Clifford of the Imperial Council of the Grangale Empire. We have been conducting operations with elements of the former Ixzaran Republic Army under the command of Colonel Kemal and have secured the city of Istanbul. We are aware that many nations are seeking to extract their citizens from the former republic. With Istanbul secure, we are making Ataturk International Airport available for evacuation purposes. Our forces along side the forces of Colonel Kemal are pushing outwards from the city to secure a safe zone for those fleeing the warlords. It has also come to our attention that there is some confusion or concern as to our motives. I assure you this is not a land grab or an invasion. Our assistance was requested by Colonel Kemal and his brother-in-law, a refugee who fled to the Empire, to help secure his district and fight back the warlords who are carrying out a genocide. Statement from Secretary of State Benson Thomas "I wish to allivate any concerns that other nations may have about the Kingdom's intentions in the former territory of Republic of Neoplanta. I have spoken with King Jason and he has assured me the House of Habsburg has no intention of seizing any territory. Romania formally requested to join the Kingdom. No military action was taken nor was their any arm twisting or threats made on our part. Romania's actions were entirely their own. Should any territory in the former Republic of Neoplanta seek independence we will accept it and recognize them as a sovereign nation. On another note I have received word from the Imperial Council of the Grangale Empire that Ataturk International Airport has been secured by the Imperial Army. The Grangale Imperial Army is there to help citizens of San Lumen to evacuate the country. Ships from the Royal Navy are on the way to the Port of Istanbul to assist in the evacuation process of citizens. Should any country need assistance in evacuating their citizens the Kingdom will gladly be of assistance.'' Edited by San Lumen, Jul 27 2011, 04:47 PM.

Helene was discussing matters with Celatoria when yet another note came in - she was more annoyed that for once everyone wanted to talk to her - and was a bit surprised that the call from from San Lumen. She went to text with her delegate in the state - as San Lumen and North Chicanan had no official relations, representatives working for the state in Vienna and Florence were known only as delegates. Neoplanta was to be the first state holding an Northern Ambassador. Helene: Yes Aston? Aston Hewitt, Northern Delegate to San Lumen (in Vienna) (why yes NorTel has coverage through the region. Doesn't your cell provider?): SL PM wants meeting Helene: y Aston: dunno, preparing big move from IXR. r we moving navy? Helene: Ya, 2&3 to MNT Aston: Maybe bout that...do I speak for state? Helene: Minor issues. Major stuff with me or Prez Aston: K, will let SL know. Helene: get gemma too, both dels should be at meet Aston: i'll text her, she was at a business conference in the southern region Helene: k. keep update! Helene sat the phone down, was rather amused at the idea of a low-level delegate meeting with a Prime Minister, and returned to her discussion with Celatoria. At least they seemed practical...and not all interested in invading sovereign states. "Chancellor, I do agree for the need of stability to both Neoplanta and the Ixzaran Republics and fully support your push for an alliance to help with stabilizing the region. obviously we have no interest in actual conflict with San Lumen, the Empire or any other state as our main interest is preserving the populations of Neoplanta and Ixzara as best we can. we have authorized the second and third naval fleets to move from their positions near Copenhagen to the Montenegrin coast, and we expect the forces there within a day. Thankfully the Serbian and Montenegrin folks we have connections with have expressed information that the southern Balkans are relatively calm. We have no reason to question San Lumen's stance on the reintegration of Romania within their rule, but we are concerned their presence could shatter the weak alliance in Belgrade and feel it's important to protect the legitimacy of what remains of Neoplanta, hence our unwillingness to recognize the integration until myself or President Fillweed have a chance to speak with their leadership. As for the Grangale Empire, we are as curious as you to know their interests in the region. We have no noted nationals and are aware Monaco-Ville-Nice is working along the Western coast of Ixzara. Any action we were to take in providing assitance could be hampered by the Empire or the Imperials, especially if their interests are far from holistic. I am very pleased though, Chancellor, that we are in agreement over the need for stability in the region and of the borders as states there seem far more focused on pushing their advantage. We are still concerned with reports from Veomo of them integrating the Ukraine into the state and are further concerned they could push for Transylvania or the southern flank of Neoplanta placed under their jurisdiction rather than San Lumen, creating another conflict in the area." Yet another tree was killed for more notes, informing of news concerning San Lumen's acquisition of Romania, as well as their promise to recognize any other part or Neoplanta that chooses to declare independence of loyalty to the Hapsburgs. She hoped her delegates got more news, as she never liked lip service being paid through memos. |

It was a matter that Colonel Ridvan Kemal had been mulling over in his mind since the collapse of his nation. He was a lot of things, but above all he was a realist. He knew that once the Grangalians left, that his little district would be at the mercy of a harsh and cruel world. He knew his country was gone and now he was on his own. He thought long and hard about what was best for the people under his protection. He spoke with several of his top subordinates and with several of the refugees that had found themselves in something of a leadership role. As a people without a country, he had a proposal to make with the Empire. Councilor Arlington arrived with the second wave to Istanbul. The second wave was largely support units and humanitarian workers, as well as food and medical supplies. Arlington want to see for himself what the situation was, while he expected to meet with Kemal, the issue Kemal presented was not something he expected in the least. "So, let me just make sure I understand this completely... you're requesting a protectorate status with the Empire?" "Yes... I have met with my subordinates and we have to face reality, without your assistance, we would be consumed by one of the warlords, if not the warlords then be made into a pawn by rival powers. It makes no difference how secure the district is, once you leave, the chaos will return." "You're asking for quite a bit there, Colonel..." Arlington replied. "I understand that, but please understand, we are a people with no country now, we have no one else to turn to, and you were the first to offer assistance. While the other nations sat there stunned and confused, you came out here to help." Arlington sighed, there really was no turning back now, they minute they got invovled and helped Kemal out, they were not committed for the long haul, they had assumed responsibility for the people under Kemal's protection, and they couldn't just rid themselves of it. "Captain! Get a video conference set up with the Council." ---half an hour later, Ataturk International Airport's press room--- The other Councilors were just a reluctant to accept Kemal's proposal, but after half an hour of negotiation something was finally hammered out. Kemal's command would be renamed the Byzantine District. It would be a semi-autonomous protectorate under the Empire. It would be free to conduct it's own affairs including foreign trade. It was agreed that District would have a democratic leadership with the governor being answerable only to the Emperor. In exchange the Empire would maintain an embassy in Istanbul, a token military force would be stationed at the District the Empire would be responsible for providing military defense for the District. In five years a referendum would be held whether to continue as a protectorate, annexation into the Empire, or full independence. Reeve looked over at Clifford and spoke, "some of the other countries are just going to think this is nothing more than a land grab on our part." Fatigued, Clifford replied, "So let them, the fact of the matter is, they came to us for help and we answered. Have they offered to bring food and medicine? No! Have they put boots on the ground to fight off genocidal warlords? No! There are people over there who are alive because of us, no amount of political rhetoric can change that. They're asking for our help, and we're simply giving it. I don't give a damn what they think or have to say!" "Ok ok, you've made your point..." Reeve replied. "Yeah sorry, I'm just a bit worn out..." Clifford apologized. |

A few of the Grangalian engineers were able to get the TV studio working, Kemal's announcement would be made over both TV and radio. The walls were still cracked and debris was still on the floor, but that didn't matter. The camera man counted down with his fingers and Kemal looked into the camera and spoke. “My countrymen, I am Colonel Ridvan Kemal of the Ixzaran Republic Army. These are trying times, out nation has collapse and our army has disintegrated into banditry and warlordism. All is not lost however, with the generous assistance of the Grangale Empire, my military district has been secured and is now a safe zone under the Empire's protection. We have food and medical supplies inbound, and are setting up refugee camps, if you have been displaced by the warlords, we will protect you, Istanbul and the nearby cities are safe. The warlords are no match for our combined forces. To foreign nationals who have been caught up in this catastrophe, Ataturk International Airport and the sea port has been opened to evacuate foreign nationals. If you can make it to our lines we will do all we can to get you home as soon as possible. These are terrible times, but do not give up hope.” Part of the message would be repeatedly looped on the radio and broadcasted across the country. Ixzaran was gone, but Kemal, as a soldier with a sworn duty to protect his people would do what ever he could to prevent the entire land from becoming a Hell on Earth. |

Mersin, Former Ixzaran Republic: The initial faze of the invasion of Mersin going well for the Imperial Marine units of the 1st and 2nd divisions. The bombardment by the 4th and 5th fleets of the Imperial navy cleared the beach defenders of rogue units of the former Ixzaran General and new warlord Pasha. Shells and rockets exploded on the beach hitting several of the bunkers on the beach, causing them to explode and burst into flames. In the rear of the Ixzaran beach defenses the Imperial Marine Demolitions Regiment which had been secretly inserted the night previous cleared landing strips, destroyed Ixzaran defenses, and protected against potential counter attack. Aiding these special operatives was another elite unit of the Imperial military, the Imperial Naval Assault Regiment. These men was inserted with the IMDR and set about raiding inland defenses and infrastructure of Warlord Pasha's. These raids kept the warlord's forces on edge and prevented them from reaching the beach head. The CH-46 Sea Knights of the Imperial Marine Corps flew from there amphibious assault ships towards the scenic Eastern Mediterranean coastline of Mersin. The shore looked surreal and almost beautiful exploding and ablaze. Private Adham could hardly believe the true scope of the display of power the Imperials were unleashing. He gripped tightly to the Sea Knights door, flying had never been his thing. The helicopter shuddered from a flak round. The warlord was fighting back, if even it was token resistance. As the helicopters numbering close to one hundred flew over the beach the fire intensified. Two Sea Knights were lost to flak, one exploded on fire right to the left of Adham's helicopter. Adham gripped the door tighter and screamed from the shock of witnessing twenty of his comrades simply disappear. Soon the helicopter descended and the sergeant scream the orders to "Disembark!". With that the men jumped out of the Sea Knight and unto the battlefield and into glory. The first wave of Imperial Marines linked up the Imperial Marine Demolitions Unit and began creating a perimeter around the helicopter landing zone. Pasha's forces attacked but in disjointed and unorganized attacks, likely a result of the destruction the Imperial Naval Assault Regiment was inflicting. With the Empire having near total air supremacy, marines called in waves of destruction from the air on the rogue Ixzarans. The first wave began pushing out from the LZ and soon started made there way inland as another wave of heliborne marines was inbound. Also washing up on shore were the AAV's of Imperial Marines which brought the bulk of the 1st and 2nd Imperial Marine Divisions ashore. The beach head was easily won by the Imperial Marines, Pasha was clearly on the run. ............................... Liveras, Cyprus - Protectorate of Monaco-Ville-Nice: Commandant Sergio Amos the Commander of the Imperial Marine Corps was sitting in his command and control room at the Imperial Marines headquarters. Status updates were coming in at a rapid pace on the Marines invasions of Mersin in the former Ixzaran Republic. The invasion so far was a success, but amphibious invasions can always swing either way based on how fast the invader could land his forces. The Commandant was keeping in constant conversation with his generals to make sure the airborne troops were advancing and the amphibious landings were smoothly going ahead. The Commandant began to breath a little easier once the LZ's were secured and marines were pushing inland towards the massive port of Mersin and the International Airport of Mersin. Once these were secured it would only be a matter of time before the rest of the city fell. The Commandant turned to one of his generals and spoke "A shame what's become of the Ixzaran army. Half of them desert and the rest fight amongst themselves for who gets the right to kill the people. Long our enemy, still a shame to see what can happen to once proud people.". The general agreed and soon both men were back to there mission and well on there way of assuring victory for the Imperials. |

At Ataturk International Airport the scene was one of chaos. people of all nationalities and people trying to flee the country all converged on the air port. Standing on top of an outdoor ticket counter Private Sayuri Shima, traded in her AK-108 and her combat gear for a bullhorn and tried to bring some order to the chaos. "OK people from San Lumen, go to Terminal 4! Veomo, you're at Terminal 5! United Provinces, you're Terminal 7!" Else where at the airport, medics were loading a severely injured San Lumen government official into a waiting V-22. One of the medics got into the V-22 with her while the other waived the pilot off, indicating that he was clear to go. "Keep the plane steady!" The medic shouted towards the cockpit. At the command center, Colonels Kemal and Windamier were receiving some very disturbing reports from some of the refugees. General Metran, the warlord pushing on Kemal's eastern flank was apparently rounding up Kurds into an extermination camp. "Looks like we're going to have to extend Operation Oasis..." Windamier simply said. ---Somewhere in the former Ixzaran Republic--- Kasif Tabak sacked the bodies of the soldiers he and his brothers had ambushed with their hunting rifles. He, his two brothers and their families were trying to evade Colonel Sami's troops fearing they would be killed and their wives and daughters raped. He wondered why no one was coming to help, why the world had abandoned them to brutal warlords. Kasif was grabbing an AKM rifle, the dead soldiers extra clips and grenades when his brother, standing by one of their SUV shouted for him to hurry over. "Listen to this..." Zafer said. "...my military district has been secured and is now a safe zone under the Empire's protection. We have food and medical supplies inbound, and are setting up refugee camps, if you have been displaced by the warlords, we will protect you, Istanbul and the nearby cities are safe..." Then the broadcast repeated itself. "Istanbul? Do we have enough petrol to get there?" Kasif asked. "I think we can make it, but barely." Zafer answered. And just then the radio on one of the dead soliders crackled to life, demanding a status report. "We better hurry and get going." Zafer commented, looking at the dead soldiers. ---Aboard the GIS Venator--- "Ok I believe we have a deal then." Ulrich said, again sitting at a table in the officer's mess, across from Ramius and Jinghua Li. First Ulrich spoke about the piracy and the black market matter, implicating Gregory Sokolov, much to his delight. And savored every moment of hearing Li on the phone giving the order to arrest Sokolov. Then he steered the subject to Ixzaran. "So you want to know who brought that country down? He wasn't working alone, I don't know who his collaborators were, but Kenneth Baker played a BIG part of that drama." Ulrich said. "What?! CEO of ArmsTech?" Li asked. "The same. The fat slimy bastard had me ship a whole production line to Ixzaran and set up a dummy company there called Republic Arms. He set up a whole small arms factory and munitions plant there just before the collapse. He figured the place would dissolve into warlordism meaning tons and tons of money for an arms dealer. He probably got in touch with some of the radicals in the country, made some deals with them and various generals and got the ball rolling. " Li made a similar call to arrest Baker, and verified some of the information that Ulrich had provided. About an hour later she and Ulrich were on an V-22 to Ikaruga, then on to Directia and a new identity and witness protection for Ulrich. After the meeting Ramius ordered the marines back from the Eastern Outpost and sent the facility to the bottom of the ocean with a missile attack. Edited by Grangale Empire, Jul 28 2011, 12:26 AM.

Ministry of Defense - Baru Hurezumsa - Veomo The Collegium was analyzing the reports on both former Neoplantan and former Ixzaran territories. Wulfric Tessler a mid fifties military-annalist and one of the junior members of the Collegium was making the presentation. "According to the latest reports the situation is the following: Istambul had required the assistance of the Grangale Empire and the answered to it, now it is a safe zone under the protection of the Empire, this intel has been confirmed by Commander Kurchenko and is legit. To the south, the Imperials of MVN are deploying over Mersin coast..." at this point another member of the collegium, General August Kypov spoke: "Tessler, is it possible that MVN is using Nebulous?" "We believe so, General Kypov" The Collegium was somewhat amazed, and yet not surprised, that the imperials had put Nebulous under effect, after all it was the logical movement to do. "I see, carry on Tessler." "Well, so far former Ixzaran is mostly divided under the control of eight warlords, besides the District of Istambul under the command of Colonel Kemal, we have General Pasha who controls most of southern Anatolia, Commodore Burakgazi of the former Ixzaran Navy got under control of the north eastern portion of Ixzara bordering Armenia. General Metran claimed Ankara and is now pushing west towards Istambul's eastern flank. Admiral Uzun got the European region of Ixzara and managed to blockage the Bosphorus. Lieutenant General Demir associated with some navy officers controls over western Levantia, while Colonel Avci claims a small portion of south east of Levantia, bordering with General Pasha's territory. Colonel Karga controls the north east of Levantia, and General Tilki the rest of Anatolia, as it can be seen on this map. The NML areas are the ones with no visible supremacy of any of the parts. The Kurd border nonetheless is the most worrying one with visible mobilization of Kurdistan's troops over the region. ![]() As to the situation on the Balkans, North Chicanan forces were spotted on course to the western Balkans, we are still blind on their intentions on this movement. Romania and Eastern Slavonia regions requested their reintegration to the Habsburg House, and the Black Sea Fleet of former Neoplanta surrended themselves to San Lumen, and are now docked at the Romanian Coast." "What about our nationals at Ixzara?" asked another junior member, this time the parliament representative Phillip Korinthiapov. "Fortunatelly most of them were at Istanbul at the time of the collapse, and are now boarding at Ataturk International. But we still have no notices on the whereabouts of the cruise-ship Gerveroux which according to our latest reports was about to cross the Bosphorus when everything happened. We have 350 nationals on board among other 3000 passengers and crew. Satellite images show us that the ship is anchored near the Dardanelles, but we have no intel on the status of the crew or passengers, they've gone radio silence since it all happened, I'm afraid we must fear for the worse." "Very well, thank you Tessler, I shall inform the Grand Duke of this." Said Marshal Iubek "Dismissed gentleman." were his final words that day. |

Alexandria-Monaco-Ville-Nice: Foreign Minister Nelson Beaudelairen was talking in his video conference room to the royals in Vienna, Commandant Sergio Amos in Cyprus, as well as Defense Minister Ptah in Alexandria. News was flooding in about the recent Imperial invasion of Southern Anatolia, more specifically Mersin in the Former Ixzaran Republic. Early news of the Invasion was very positive with Commandant Sergio Amos commenting that "We've moved nearly both divisions on the shore. The Imperial Navy, Special Forces, and Air Corps have cleared a path that my men only need follow. We've landed mostly infantry in AAV's or infantry via helicopter. Several Imperial Marine battalion's are now battling for the major Mersin port with Special Forces elements. Once we have the port under our control we can begin sending the Imperial Marines heavier armor units. This will truly win us Mersin. Also Marines and Special Forces are battling for control of Mersin's international airport. Once this is taken the 31st Imperial Air Corps will fly the 16th Imperial Army division into to Mersin and we will begin moving outward.". Pharaoh Mark Antony began clapping slowly and laughing visibly intoxicated even over a screen. He then spoke "Splendid job Commodore, or is it Commandant?" an obvious challenge to the Commandant. The Commandant sat up a little in his chair and slowly and softly said "Commandant.". The Pharaoh then said sarcastically "Ah, most apologies. Well Commandant once your men have secured the bridgehead you are to move out and secure Mersin in total. From there I want you to place a 50 Million Solidus bounty on the head of General Pasha, nothing rips rogue armies apart faster than money. The man who first brings us the generals head on a stick gets the money and then a bullet. Make peace with the Kurds and Colonel Avci for that matter. We will need allies in Ixzara.". The Commandant nodded at his new mission. Nelson had been quite then spoke "Turning some of the warlord to our side while casting others out?" the Pharaoh then laughed a little "Precisely.". ............. Mersin International Airport, Former Ixzaran Republic: Private Ahmad was in the thick of the fighting for the airport. The Imperial Marines had arrived to the airport from there helicopter landing LZ's and linked up with Imperial Naval Assault troops whom had taken nearly half the airport themselves. Fighting however became intense near the terminals. Nearly 20 Marines had been lost already trying to storm the terminals. Finally with overwhelming numbers the Imperial Marines pressed forward into the terminal. Private Ahmad in the middle of the charging Marines. Everywhere gunshots could be heard and the ground seemed to explode in front of him with the missed shots of the Ixzarans. The man in front of him took a bullet to the head dying instantly in an explosion of blood, flesh, and membrane. Private Ahmad stopped quick, looking in disbelief at the man lying dead in front of him. Suddenly his sense of duty took over and he charged ahead. He ran as hard as he could and quickly was at the front of the Imperial Marines and soon locked on to an Ixzaran. The man was dress in typical Ixzaran military dress and holding an M-16. He even managed to get off a few shots, but this man was Ahmad's. Private Ahmad drew his AN-94 and locked on the firing Ixzaran. He made sure the man was between his cross hairs. He could make out his face now, a black beard, brown eyes, short hair. This man was nothing to him and yet in a sense everything. The Ixzaran noticed Private Ahmad at the last second and turned to fire and the two locked eyes for a brief second. It was to late however for the Ixzaran. Private Ahmad squeezed the trigger and sent a round through the Ixzaran's head, which exploded in red and then fell. Private Ahmad was no longer shell shocked, to many of his friends had died for that today. Private Ahmad killed his first man and simply continued on running and killing until the terminal was in the control of the Imperials. ................................... |
