Aston Hewitt and Gemma Rancolph arrived at the Prime Minister's office early in the day. The delegates of North Chicanan in San Lumen were not used to holding meetings with the government of the Hapsburgs - they were here to represent Northern interest in the region and help Northern citizens who traveled to Florence and Vienna. However, they were the highest-ranked officials in the state, so when they received word of being summoned for a state meeting, neither were excited.

At this point the second and third naval brigade was off the coast of Montenegro and were working with local nationals to provide basic humanitarian assistance to the region. The Northern government had sent word to Belgrade should the Serbia-Montenegro-Herzegovina alliance become formal and declare independence, the state would immediately recognize them and increase economic assistance to help in rebuilding infrastructure damaged during streetfights in the major capitals.

Aston and Gemma also knew the Northern government had questions about Romania's recent return to San Lumen rule and were expecting the meeting to address those concerns, settle any nerves and probably mildly suggest the Northerners get their nose out of Neoplantan affairs. With Celatoria expected to have a naval brigade off the coast of Montenegro shortly to work with the Northern Navy, however, it wasn't like Helene would step down from keeping the eastern states from dividing the land amongst themselves.

Both were finally allowed into Prime Minister Dolores Lantingham's office, where pleasantries and coffee awaited them. The two then listened to the Prime Minister, interested to see just what they could do to help the Northern interest outside their normal field of expertise.

Captain Krushchev addressed the troops gathered for the briefing. "This will be an extension of Operation Oasis. We've received word and confirmed though aerial recon that General Metran has set up an extermination camp in the eastern part of his territory where he's herding in all sorts of "undesirables." Krushchev tapped a button on his remote and a red circle representing the camp appeared. "Lucky for us, the General had the camp built next to a rail way depot and one of the tracks leads right into the Safe Zone." Krushchev tapped another button and the map zoomed out. "The plan is this, at 23 hundred, two of our Rafales will take out any heavy resistance, SAMs, tanks, and the like. Once clear our Chinooks will fly in and you people are to neutralize the guards. Meanwhile a second group of birds will fly into the rail depot, and see about getting us a train out of there. At the camp, children, elderly and the injured will be loaded onto the helicopters while the rest loaded into the train."

A hand in the group of soldiers went up and he spoke when Krushchev gestured towards him. "Will the train have any escorts or will it be up to the troops on the train?"

"We'll have two Super Cobras, and the two aforementioned Rafales providing air cover for the train. Any other questions...? No...? Alright then, lets get it done people!"

The helicopters were taking off, Corporal Hatsumomo Saito checked her Mk.14 EBR, she was the designated marksman for her squad and she would be responsible for providing sniper support from the helicopter as the rest of the squad secured the camp. This wasn't the first time she had seen combat, when she was a teenager her town along the Ikaruga-Trans-Orient Boarder was raided by bandits and she was forced to take up arms, her brother's Saiga hunting rifle, to protect their home. Later on she fought those same bandits again as member of the Imperial Army. She looked out across the darkened Ixzaran landscape, wondering what was waiting for them.

---Sekigahara Naval Base---
The had finished loading the 6 Sea Harrier FA2s aboard the Venator, the Harriers would likely be used for ground strikes, but anti-air weaponry was also brought aboard. Along with the Harriers, the Venator also took on a cargo of food and medical supplies along with volunteer doctors and aid workers and an Army engineering unit. With that, the 4th Fleet was assembled again and read for it's next mission. Anti-piracy patrols would now be carried out by the 2nd Fleet.

---Directia---
Agent Sutherland let out a frustrated sigh and pulled out his phone and made a call. "Yeah, Li? He gone, must have JUST missed him..." Sutherland and several other IIS and Domestic Security officers convereged on Kenneth Baker's home in Directia just minutes after the arrest warrant was processed, but there was no sign of him at all.

After hearing of Gregory Sokolov's arrest, and suspecting Ulrich had defected and sold them out, Baker took his private jet and flew out to the former Izxaran to meet with Commodore Burakgazi, who's territory "Republic Arms" was set up in. As a token of appreciation the Commodore had set up a villa along the coast for his use.

Two Celatorian divisions landed on the Western coast of Ixzara, the region currently ruled by Lt. General Demir. Another division landed in Montenegro as a precautionary measure, against no resistance.

The Ixzaran landings were made against great resistance, but only minor casualties were suffered due to a strong amount of Celatorian air support (4 divisions). Order is being reestablished in this area. Celatoria is currently acting alone here, but it is believed that North Chicanan may join this operation.

The troops in the former region of Neoplanta, Montenegro, are currently in the process of distributing humanitarian aid. On this operation, Celatoria are officially working with North Chicanan.

The two naval fleets used in the landings are now in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The “map room” of the Presidential Mansion was buzzing with activity. There were numerous aides, analysts, military personnel, all trying to find their way around and get something done. It had only been days since Alexander Wayne had taken office, and now he had a lot to do.

The tall, thin President, sporting a large mustache and wearing aviator sunglasses entered. The room immediately went silent to hear what the new president was going to say.

“Alright ladies and gentlemen, we have a lot to deal with right now. I need General Erwan, Field Marshal Bedivere, and Admiral Scott in my office immediately; and be sure to bring a map of Ixzara!” said the president as he entered his small, but comfortable office.

Before long, the four men, as well as a couple aides, were hovering over a map of Ixzara, debating what action, if any, that Byronmandy should take.

The President spoke:

“These damn imperialists think that they can just conquer and spread their influence whenever they feel like it. I never thought that Ixzara would fall, and I never even considered that all of the world’s dictatorships would try to take advantage of the situation. San Lumen, acting much out of character, has annexed Romania. Meanwhile, Grangale, on a supposed humanitarian mission has invaded the land around Istanbul, and MVN is just trying to gain more influence like always by invading southern Anatolia.

Obviously since all of this genocide and civil war is happening, something had to be done, but it would have been best to have a large, coordinated mission of all the region’s nations with a set end-game. Now, everyone is just landing troops without even talking to one another. Its complete madness, and unless something is done, this could get messy real quick.

North Chicanan and Celatoria realize that these other nation’s motives may not be exactly what they seem. They have formed an informal military alliance for the time being, and are doing what everyone else should be doing. We must make sure that once order is restored in Asia Minor and the Balkans, that everyone withdraws their troops. That includes Grangale and San Lumen also. We cannot let these land grabs go unnoticed.

They say that they are doing it for the good of the people. If that was what they really wanted, then they would restore order, and then give the land back it’s independence and leave. Instead, we now have a dictatorship in control of the Bosporus. That is unacceptable.”

Motioning towards one of the aides, he said, “Have Secretary Adair issue a statement saying that after order is restored, and the people are able to care for themselves, any foreign army in the former territory of Ixzara and Neoplanta will be regarded as hostile and an occupying force.”

With a quick “Yes sir!,” the aide ran out of the room.

Then Field Marshal John Bedivere spoke up:

“Sir, I could have troops ready as soon as you give the command. But I would recommend that we ask if the republic may join Celatoria and North Chicanan in their operation. I think it would be best if we coordinated our movements with them and worked together to restore order.”

The President thought for a moment, then said:

“Exactly what I was thinking. Let it be known that Byronmandy wishes to join and aide our neighbors Celatoria and North Chicanan during their action in the former Ixzaran Republic.

Until they answer, I want the 23rd, 29th, 30th, 31st, and 32nd Army Divisions, transported and supported by the 8th and 9th fleets mobilized and ready to deploy at a minutes notice. Marshal Bedivere, you will command the land component of the operation, and Sea Marshal Scott, you will command the naval section. Both of you get ready to leave. You’re going to war.”

Marshal Bedivere smiled and lifted his hat up off of his head, “Thank you sir, you won’t be disappointed.”

Before the two men could exit, the president said one more thing:

“Gentlemen, good luck. We’ll have 100,000 men in Asia Minor before they knew what hit them.”

Prime Minister Lantingham was pleased that Aston Hewitt and Gemma Rancolph accepted her invitation for a meeting. She knew it was unorthodox but wanted to speak to someone in international relations in the North Chicanan government.
"Thank you for coming.'' Prime Minister Landingham said as she sat down in a ornate Victorian style chair. "Especially on such short notice.'' She said as she took a sip of her coffee.
"I realize this meeting in Florence is unusual. Considering your rank in the government it seemed fitting that we meet. I understand that our two countries do not have formal diplomatic relations. It is my belief as well as that of our King the situation should change. His Royal and Imperial Majesty wants to appoint an Ambassador to North Chicanan and establish diplomatic relations. Secondly I understand your government is concerned about our recent acquisition of Eastern Slavonia and Romania. Slavonia is in Croatia it is not to be confused with Slovenia. I wish to reiterate that both those regions actions were entirely their own. No territory was seized as no military action was taken. We will recognize the independence of any territory in the former Republic of Neoplanta that seeks it.''

At the Admiralty Office in the Ministry of Defense complex decisions were being taken.

With the recent surrender of the former Neoplantan Black Sea Fleet to Romania, and by extension to San Lumen, the Black Sea was now a safer place. But there was still the Gerveroux affair.

Admiral Murdoch was standing in front of his office's window. Behind him, hanging in the wall, a flat screen was showing the position of each ship of the Grand Ducal Navy. The First Fleet was west to the Crimean Peninsula, between the Grand Duchy and the former Neoplantan Fleet, while the Second was patrolling the waters southern to the peninsula.

Three other high officers of the GDN were in the room.

"Extend the submarine network, I want to know exactly what is going on in the Bosphorus. I'm putting you in charge of this operation Commodore Lagunov. You shall departure at once."

"Yes sir." were the only words of the Commodore.

"Vice-Admiral Berkh, get the rest of the first fleet ready to engage at the Bosphorus. Squadron Admiral Utkin, the second shall maintain Commodore Burakgazi away from the Bosphorus. Gather as much intel you can on their ships. You'll have air support from the GDAF if you need it. Dismissed."

The three officers saluted and left the room.

Meanwhile at the GDG base outside Baru Hurezumsa the troops were getting ready to take humanitarian aid to Istanbul mostly medical supplies, food, and bottled fresh water. A couple of KC390 were taking off a couple of hours later taking the troops and the supplies to Istanbul escorted by two squadrons of the 314 Super Tucano of the GDAF.

Message to Byronmandy, from the Chancellory:

Celatoria is currently in control of the situation with Demir, but would appreciate any assistance that can be offered. As the alliance with N.C is informal and the Ixzaran operation has not yet been joined by them, we willingly accept Byronmandy's joining of this operation.

Corporal Hatsumomo Saito provided sniper fire from the helicopter as it hovered over head. On the ground the rest of her squad along with another squad secured the camp. She noticed two of her squad mates backing up from one of the buildings and pointed her rifle in that direction and peered though the night-vision scope. The two Imperial soldiers were backing away from one of the camp guards who were using prisoner as a human shield. It was obvious they didn't have a clear shot, so she lined up her Mk.14 EBR and squeezed the trigger sending a 7.62x51 caliber slug though one end of the guard's head and out the other. A moment later and several more sniped guards and it was over.

Hatsumomo stepped off the now landed helicopter and got a look at the crowd, and she decided it was probably the worst thing she had ever seen in her life. Several of them looked as if they were tortured or beaten. Some of the women had that 1000 yard stare that unsettled Hatsumomo, and made her not want to think what had been done to them. All of them looked as if they hadn't eaten in days. The worst though was the gas chambers and the back behind the chambers where people were shot. The bodies on men, women, children, and the elderly were just piled there, as if the executions were so fast and efficient the grave diggers couldn't keep up. She wasn't sure she'd ever forget that stench of death that hung in the air.

"OK, Bravo Squad get the elderly, children and anyone sick or badly injured, I'm talking broken bones onto the helicopters. Alpha Squad start getting everyone else together and head for the rail depot, Charlie's got a train ready and waiting!" Captain Krushchev barked to his men.

As a marksman, Hatsumomo would stay on the helicopter where she have the best view, her job would be to act as a pair of eyes for the troops on the ground.

Sergent Sevchenko was leading the prisoners who could still move to the rail depot less than a mile away. When they arrived the train was ready to go, Sevchencho was a bit surprised when the door to a fancy looking train opened and a Imperial Army solider stood in the door way waiving and shouted "ALL ABOARD!"

"You guys just HAD to go and jack the VIP train didn't you?" Sevchenko said as he reached Corpora Garza at the door way.

"Hey, where's you ticket?" Garza asked in a mock serious tone.

"Shut up!" Sevchenko said and playfully shoved Garza out of the way. "Alright everyone on the train!" He shouted to the crowd behind him.

As they were underway, Hatsumomo still felt sick over what she saw. How bad would it have been if we never came? She thought. She panned her rifle across the horizon looking though the scope when something caught her eye. "Enemy tanks, 10 o'clock!" She shouted. Seconds later one of the Super Cobras broke formation and advanced on the tanks, she could see the flashes from the anti-tank rockets launching in the night, and a second later the explosions that announced an all clear.

Despite the appearance of two of the warlord's F-16s, the train and all the helicopters made it to the Safe Zone in one piece. The F-16s no match for the Imperial Rafales. The sick and injured were taken to Istanbul, where the only current functioning hospital was, along with their immediate families for treatment. The rest were taken to one of the tent city refugee camps that had been set up on the outskirts of Istanbul.

Back at one of the hangars at Ataturk International that was being used as a base, Sergent Sevchenko noticed there was something different with Hatsumomo. "Hey, Saito." He called, and got no response, the girl appeared to be in a sort of daze. "Hatsumomo!" he called again.

"HUH?!" She snapped out of her daze. "Ok sorry, sarge, I was thinking about something."

"You ok, you seem a little shook up." He asked.

"Yeah just... that was a lot to take in. All this time, while we've been keeping to our little region, is this what's been going on in the rest of the world?" She asked, a slight shake in her voice.

"Look, it was along day, get some rest and try not to think too much. You'll feel better in the morning." Sevchenko said. Hatsumomo complied and left, leaving him to finally think about what they saw. He forced himself keep what he saw out of mind until the operation was complete but now he was free, or rather doomed, to think about what they saw. He would never shake the image of the gang rape he another solider walked in on, for a long time. I don't give a damn what the other countries out there say, we ARE doing the right thing! He thought.

---Elsewhere in the former Izxaran Republic---

Kasif Tabrak was driving the SUV as fast as it would go, with his brother's SUV right behind. Just a little further...! Colonel Sami's men had caught up to them, in the rear view mirror he could see either his brother or his nephew lean out the window to fire back at the two trucks that were chasing them. In the distance, Kasif could just make out a check point...

Privates Fadir Yilmas and Lacerrem Osman were playing poker in the trailer serving as a guard shack when they heard a pounding at the door. "Damn it! What the hell does Reis want now?!" Osman said growled, slamming his cards down. We went to the door and opened it all the way ready to shout at the 18 year old private. "What?!"

"We got incoming!" Private Reis said excitedly."

Osman turned to look down the road and saw two SUVs and two trucks barreling down the road towards them. He swore and ran to the MG-3 machine gun that was mounted on a concrete block. "Hey, Yilmas, get the RPG!" He shouted. Looking down the sights, he noticed bursts of gunfire and it seemed as if the SUVs and the trucks were shooting at each other, as they got closer he recognized the trucks as army trucks.

"SUVs are refugees, and the trucks look like some warlord's trucks!: Reis shouted as he looked down the scope of an M-21.

"OK let the SUVs though, then just unload on the trucks!" Yilmas said.

The SUVs drove though the check point and started slowing down, as soon as they had passed, the three soldiers opened fire on the two trucks. Reis sniped the driver of one, that Osman shredded with the MG-3 and Yilmas destroyed the other with the RPG-7.

Moments later one of the SUV drivers approached the soldiers. "You are Colonel Kemal's men?" he cautiously asked.

"That's affirmative." Yilmas replied. "Are you ok, need food, water or medical assistance?"

"Yes, I am fine, but my brother and my nephew require some assistance, one was shot in the shoulder and the other in the arm."

"Alright, we have some basic supplies here we can patch them up."

An hour later, Kasif and his family were on the way to Istanbul, finally able to relax a little. The soldiers gave them directions to the most direct route to Istanbul as well as several jugs of water and MREs. After the harrowing run from the rouge soliders, Kasif needed a break and traded seats with his wife who now drove. He looked at an MRE pouch and read the label. "Manufactured for the Imperial Ministry of War of the Grangale Empire." He has only recently head of this nation and was surprised that one so far away had come to their assistance while no one else in the region had. He would never forget what the Empire had done for his family.

To Byronmandy:

We welcome the assistance of Byronmandy to the Serbia and Montenegro region as we are conducting humanitarian projects in the region after the fall of the Neoplantan region. At this time North Chicanan is not involved with any operations in the Ixzaran region and has no current intentions to join in the issue, although we support the actions taken by Celatoria in the region. We welcome your assistance and look forward to your contribution to the program in Yugoslavia.

----------------------

Meanwhile in Florence...

Aston was first to speak. "Madam Prime Minister, I do trust my government would welcome full diplomatic relations with San Lumen and shall send word to the First Minister of your interest. I trust Minister Aremstrang will be most delighted with the opportunities that would arise between the states with such an agreement.

(ooc: any states interested in actual diplomatic relations may register on my Factsheet subforum section under Embassies to engage in ambassador exchanges, since it appears everyone is here now)

As for Romania, I will also send word to my government what you have said in regards to Romania and Eastern Slavonia and the state's position on recognizing possible independence claims from territories formerly of Neoplanta. I believe the government will be accepting of your statement, as well as the official statement from King Jason on the issue."

Gemma coughed, then asked out of curiosity if the Prime Minister had any questions of them they could relay to the government back home, assuring the Prime Minister Ms. Aermstrang or President Fillweed would be in touch as quickly as possible to discuss issues.

------------

And over in Belgrade...

Lt. Com. Jason Kirtland of the Naval 2nd fleet met today with Serbian and Montenegrin leaders on behalf of the Northern-Celatorian mission to the region, as Serbian President Boris Tadić, Montenegrin President Petar Nemanjić (who survived an assassination attempt in Podgorica hours after President Fillweed of North Chicanan had left during the first uprising) and Herzegovina President Milorad Dodik signed articles declaring their regions to be the Union of Yugoslavia. The newly-formed state would allow Northern and Celatorian military into the region to help stabilize the coastal regions west of Podgorica and south of Belgrade as the leaders began rebuilding the political process and helping the citizens of the region adjust to the new Presidency in Belgrade. The President of Sarajevo, Valentin Inzko, chose not to attend, with those in attendance suggesting the Sarajev people (ooc: decided not to go with straight Bosnian) of the northern enclave of what would be Yugoslavia had not decided if they wished to join the brethren in the Union, strike a deal with San Lumen or to go it alone.

The KC390 and its escort were approaching the Istanbul Air Space. As Major Kozel tried to contact the air control.
"Istanbul Center, here is GDG390KC, requesting airspace clearance and directions to IST, over".

Meanwhile, several thousands of meters below, the HHS Misha, one of the GDN submarines was getting near the Bosphorus, followed by three other subs of the first fleet.
