---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- While the Estate was setting up for the conference, Jason and Helene met to discuss the meeting. They decided in advance they would try and foster better leadership than the last conference the state was involved in and try to guide talks along the Anatolian issue first. While wanting to pursue Byronmander-Imperial talks, Helene cautioned to move this issue behind the scenes and not drag it out in full council. Jason surmised if the talks were successful, the Northerners could push for a regional board to handle future matters like this. A small scale World Assembly of sorts. Helene scoffed a bit at the notion, as the Vienna Group were basically in formation to make their own board. But she would consider the idea in private with San Lumen and Celatoria before bridging the idea further. |

Helene was already at the conference site, so President Jason Fillweed saw to it to meet the delegations as they arrived for the conference. The city was awashed in Chicanan Orange for the national football team who made the final 32 in the NS World Cup, and the nation saw it's footy glory as a bit more pressing. For Jason, it meant the conference could go on with a bit less pressure from the international media. The Government Tower was adorned with the flags of all the nations of Baradoz, and the marked routes from Kodiak International to Old Capital would feature smaller flags in clusters to promote the nations as well as regional stability. Jason couldn't help but note someone grouped several Imperial and Byronmander flags together outside each states embassies, which followed the route to Old Capital. "I figure that should go over well..." Jason thought as he made his way from the city center to the airport, which sat just outside the city in Lleyton Township. From Kodiak International, the delegates, kings, queens and presidents would make their way along the Western Channel into the heart of St. John's, going past Stanley Street and the Government Tower towards the Embassy District with Bishop used to get to Highlands and towards the Northeast. The path would take the leaders past the National Athletic Park, the major business heart of St. John's as well as Hard Rock Arena and the Shamrock Ice Hall nearby. To the left of Highlands they went onto Centennial Highway, past the Red-Green Cricket Grounds and Northern University of the Arts towards the Hillcrest district. Just past the oldest sector of the city the leaders of the region would see the Old Capital, a massive nature preserve and historical center dedicated to Chicanada History and Northern prosperity. The Estate sat along Lake Northend, and four villas along the lake would be used for the hosing of dignitaries and staff. The Conference Halls were in the main building. Helene and Jason chose to use the old Cantonal chambers, as they were smaller than the Assembly and would be more welcoming. The Assembly area would be configured to allow staff access towards all the modern needs of home while keeping clutter away from the conference itself. Two smaller chambers off the Cantonal would be set aside for separate meetings. Jason expected the Vienna group to meet separately and would invite Byronmandy and the Provinces to use the other as well. The Northern government expected to meet with both groups as well as their friends in Celatoria and San Lumen separately. Of course, before the business of keeping the Imperials and Byronmanders from shooting at each other some more, a Northern banquet would be set for the guests at the Central Villa, an open-air spot in the middle of the Estate which would allow for a bit more informal conversation before seeing what the Vienna Alliance and the Byronmander-Provinces link would propose. Jason arrived at the Northern Pier area of Kodiak International around 10:30 in the morning, with only thin wisps of clouds hanging in the air. At 39, he hoped he could be taken serious by other leaders while knowing he would be seen as an elder statesman to some. With his blonde hair slicked back to hide the small gray spots and a sharp black suit featuring a prominent orange tie and the treble star to the left, he was accompanied by his consort and long-time girlfriend Aida Clementine, who's red hair was swept up to highlight her light pink dress and French features in her face (ooc: sure, I'll describe some people). Jason and Aida met with Foreign Secretary Jason O'Riell as the first plane situated itself and prepared for the first dignitaries to disembark. The regional flags and flags of all states coming to conference were prominent and a small contingent of the press made their way out to get pictures of the dignitaries. Limos were waiting for all states to take, with the Vienna Alliance's request for only two limos for their leaders to conserve fuel. Jason and Aida waited at the end of the red walkway as the doors opened for the first delegation to arrive. |

Short before landing the Dutch government plane in North Chicanan Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten had a good conversation with his right hand Raadspensionaris Johan van Oldenbarneveld, it was a long time since they were doing official business and they felt a little nervous about the things that were going to happen. *** 'Baaper, I must say I am thrilled to show my face in public again. These weeks felt as some sort of solitary confinement.' The stadhouder replied 'You are right my friend, but you know why we did it.' 'Well... I wonder if I really do... You say it was the wisest thing we could have done? How could that be? A huge war being fought out, everyone rolling over eachother to get a piece of the pie. And the Republic of the Seven United Provinces stepping back in the shadows, doing what? Being a glorious coward?' The Stadhouder smirked 'Ah yes a huge coward, a most beneficial one too. I am almost sad this war is over you know.' 'Excuse me? Over half a million people died during the last weeks, and you are feeling sad that it is over?' the Raadspensionaris said a little agitated. 'Johan, you really need to start listening. You know that wars start by the inability of people to read an listen, for example people misinterpreting a warning as a declaration of war. Anyways... this war was a disaster ofcourse, many innocent people died and ultimately there is only one person to blame. A single person followed blindly by many far less bright leaders of other nations.' The Raadspensionaris thought for a moment and asked 'I bet that you are talking about MVN, but that is led by a couple you know...' 'What makes you think that? It is her, she spreads the hate, she is poisening the world. And the Pharaoh? The Pharaoh is actually a pretty decent bloke, too horny and way too thirsty but ultimately a human being. I bet that if it was not for that vile moustached thing that is supposed to be a woman this unjustifiable war would have been much shorter. The Pharaoh has two real enemies you know, he follows only two things.. pussy and liqour, but preferrably pussy drenched in liqour. I bet that if you send a plane filled with scotch he would give up the throne a hand it over to you!!!' They laughed out loud, until the Raadspensionaris suddenly frowned. 'You still have not told me why this war has been in any way good for us?' The Stadhouder smirked again and explained 'You see my worthy friend, war is expensive. Nations need ore, oil, gas, lumber, food, machines, cars, etc etc etc. All of them were busy using their own supplies and rapidly drained them, ofcourse we were happy to provide them with everything they requested. Sometimes for prices over a 10-fold compared to a few months ago. Ofcourse we have never sold anything to the agressors, directly that is. However, we supplied the factories of their factories. A thing we were tricked into doing ofcourse, if we would have known to whom we were selling we would never have done it. Conclusion our sales volume tripled and we earned in two weeks enough money for two consecutive years!' The Raadspensionaris looked angry 'You know very well how I feel about this, it just does not feel as the right thing to do.' The Stadhouder nodded 'Amen on that, it is plain dirty. That is why we did not do it, and we would never have done it if we had known anything of it ofcourse. War knows only losers you know.' 'So what are you planning of doing with the money?' the Raadspensionaris asked. 'What money?' 'Cut the crap...' The Stadhouder laughed but looked seriously 'Don't get me wrong, if we had been in any position to fight along we would have. However, our military is regularly losing fighting against chickens and pidgeons. How many soldiers would have died fighting along? Maybe all 100 of them! To answer your question, we do what we always do with money, in the end. It has to flow back to our citizens, and with the TRANSITION coming up we need all the funding we can get.' The Raadspensionaris increased his already complex frown 'SHIT, here he goes again with his transition! I agree, the whole plan is huge... way too big for an old man like me.' Turbulence introduced itself, and they had to buckle up. Once again the Raadspensionaris turned to the Stadhouder and tried to elucidate one last matter 'So haven't we made any destinction between allies and enemies then?' 'What are you thinking? Ofcourse we are! Did you think we have been financially opposing Byro? Anything that has been shipped to them was practically for free. In fact the many shipments we sent to Byronmandy were payed for by all the others we ripped off. Or well, I must say... by the others with whom we did business. This way Grangale and MVN payed for rebuilding half of the lost divisions. Being a nation of traders we have a great nose for bargains you know.' 'I still don't like it' the Raadspensionaris concluded. They sat for a while waiting for the plane to begin the landing. Raadspensionaris Johan van Oldenbarneveld looked out the window and said 'Shit! Look at this... we are the first. I am starting to believe we only show up early when there are free drinks.' 'I may surely hope they have enough, I need a lot of alcohol to desinfect my insides from those Imperial creeps' Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten replied. 'HAHAHAHA, good one' said the Raadspensionaris. 'What makes you believe that I am joking?' the Stadhouder responded. 'Well... euhm... I.. euhm....' 'The Stadhouder laughed so loud that his belt refrained him from falling on the floor 'Do not worry my friend, we are meeting our freshly installed North Chicanan ambassador, Maarten den Hollander, and I wanted to adept to his way of speaking. Besides, alcohol wont help... I am probably going to need fire or something...' *** The laughter continued until the plane stood safely on the ground. They untied their seatbelts and headed for the exit. When the door opened the North Chicanan welcoming committee came in sight and the cameras of what must have been thousands of journalists from all over the world. They waved and descended the stairs to approach the waiting authorities. |

Jason had not met the Provinces leadership before - that had been done by Helene's Minister of Defense. He had heard all the reports on the Stadhoulder and Raadspensionaris after the first try at a conference. He wasn't impressed with what he heard, but chose to put the best face forward for North Chicanan. "Stadhouder Baaper de I van Voorne-Putten and Raadspensionaris Johan van Oldenbarneveld," Jason said as he greeted each man with a firm handshake, "I am President Jason Fillweed and I am pleased to see you have been able to make your way to North Chicanan for the conference. My First Minister, Helene Aremstrang, and I look forward to working with your state in the near future as we work towards aiding the redevelopment of the Anatolian region." Aida shook hands with both men as well with a slight curtsy, and the President led the Provinces leadership to their limo, which would take them to the Capital Estate. "I trust Minister Aremstrang will be waiting to meet you upon your arrival to the Estate, Mr. Stadhoulder." Jason said with a smile and he waved off the limo. Aida smirked after they left, "I'm pretty sure they were fighting." Jason agreed. It wasn't going to be the best start if one state's leadership was already quarreling with each other. |

'Nice ride!' the Stadhouder said to the driver. Then he turned around and said 'Did you feel that Johan?' 'Did I feel what?' the Raadspensionaris asked. 'There are tensions between the Noth Chicanan authorities and me. It is not between our nations but feels more like something personal.' 'True sir, afterall you offended them. Ways are different here, people are far more reserved and much less direct than what we are used too. I suppose it is nothing big, just something of a cultural friction.' the Raadspensionaris explained. 'You are probably right. And by far the wisest assistant a Stadhouder ever had, I would be lost without you. I see your face, I am not joking here, it is the truth.' The Stadhouder said turning around to say something to the driver again. 'Mister driver, do you have a radio in this beautifull car? We had a long trip and a little North Chicanan music would be good.' The driver never expected a thing like this to happen and stumbled 'Euhm.. yes sir... but I am not too.. well euhm...' The Raadspensionaris quickly intervened 'You are not allowed to switch it on?' 'That is correct sir.' the driver replied. The Stadhouder got the message 'Oh, please we do not want to give you any problems. Please proceed without music sir. Maybe the Raadspensionaris is willing to sing a little tune' 'No I am not' the Raadspensionaris replied. 'No, he is not...' the Stadhouder repeated it to the driver. And the car filled with laughter. |

King Jason couldn't believe the luxary he had just flown in. It put his own jet Royal One to shame. As he stepped off the plane he noticed President Fillweed waiting for him along with other obviously high raking members of government. King Jason walked down the red carpet and shook hands with the President. "Mr. President it is truly and honor to finally meet you in person.'' King Jason said as the President shook his hand back. "The Pleasure is all mine Your Royal and Imperial Majesty. It's an honor to have you here.'' The President said and he then commented on King Jason's youth and his great charisma. |

Shortly after San Lumen's King Jason had disembarked, King Edward of Celatoria stepped off the plane. His face showed no signs that he was impressed by the extravagent luxury of the Imperial Jet. Greeting President Fillweed, he was quick to shake his hand, speaking even before the president had a chance to greet him, "President, it is my great pleasure to finally meet and speak to you after our nations have worked so closely together in the Balkans. I hope that this positive relationship between our nations can continue and strengthen for years to come." |
