The Emperor, the two colonels and the two Guardsmen returned to the Villa to recharge.

"Geoffrey, get me some abbey ale!" The Emperor shouted.

The sullen butler walked into view with an envelope in his hand. "You have a letter your Majesty..." He said in his usual tone. Almathea took the envelop and held it to the light and felt around the envelope. "I heard of a trick where some terrorists had placed anthrax in envelopes and mailed them to government officials." she explained.

The Emperor took the envelope and opened it, inside was a letter.

To: Fyodor Veld

Good Day my friend, well that is what I'd like to say. I've come across some information that's relevant to your interests. How about we have a chat over a drink about it. There's a bar that I like that would be perfect. I'll be there at 8:00pm tonight, hope you can join me.

Best regards,

Koslov.

------
The second page contained a map and directions to the bar.

"It's from that reporter." The Emperor said. "Said he has some info that we'd be interested in..."

Before they could plan their next move, Kiryu answered a call from the door guards. "What's that? Yeah, let him in." And a moment later a Praetorian Guard entered, his insignias signifying that he was part of the Royal Detachment.

He entered and bowed, "Your Majesty." He respectfully said. "His majesty the Pharaoh Mark Antony requests your presence at the Villa Nirobi."

"Very well, give us a moment." The Emperor replied. He then looked to his two aids. "Ok Kiryu, and you..." The Emperor said pointing to one of the Guardsmen. "...are with me. Almathea, take the other guy and Bravo for back up, and meet with Koslov. Civilian clothes and transport, stay under the radar, find out what he knows and get back here ASAP."

"Yes your majesty!" They all replied in unison.

The Emperor then looked at the Praetorian, "alright, lead the way."

--- Elsewhere ---

Jinghua Li was aboard a military transport en route to St. John. Officially the aircraft was there with a relief unit for some of the Imperial Guards, but the real reason it was there was to recover the SV-98 sniper rifle that was used to shoot the Grand Duke and two pieces of evidence gathered by his Majesty himself, for analysis. The three items were to be flown to Directia, the transport was escorted by four Rafales equipped with drop tanks.

Agent Li could scarcely believe what had happened, but she kept her emotions in check. On during the flight she was already reading dossiers on several people that may be involved.

King Jason and King Edward watched the press conference from the Prime Minister. King Edward commented on how charismatic she is. The Prime Minister briefed the nation on what transpired and condemmed the ''actions of a madman.'' She also took questions from the press. King Jason was pleased to hear that Crown Prince Regent Scott had been given extra protection just in case. Scott means everything to the King. Just as the press conference was finishing a Praetorian entered the room.
"Your Majesties, Stadhoulder your presence has been requested at Villa Nirobi by Pharaoh Marc Antony.'' King Jason had a feeling he knew what it was about. He was hoping the conference could be salvaged. King Edward seemed to have the same feeling.
"Lead the way.'' King Jason said as the trio left the room headed for the Villa.

On board of the air ambulance the paramedics where fighting against time to keep the Grand Duke alive and stable until they get to the hospital, but as they begun the descending procedure so begun to descend the monarch's vitals. William Dauphin, was an experienced paramedic of the aerial ambulance service, and he knew there was nothing more to be done.

As the helicopter touched ground at the roof of the General Hospital, the Grand Duke was already dead.

A few hours later the Head Director of the hospital was standing in front of the hospital entrance gardens, at his side the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy. The director begun speaking "It is with the greatest of sorrows that I must inform the decease of the Grand Duke Kahv Eirm this day at 19:00 hours. The Grand Duke condition was critical and he arrived at the hospital with a flat line, we did all we could to attempt to reanimate the Grand Duke with no response." Flashes and shouted questions flooded the audience of reporters from all over the region. Ambassador Temkoy step forward.

"The Grand Duke was committed to the results of the conference currently being held here at St. John, and as he spoke to me several times during our meetings, the achievement of peace on the middle east and the balkans. I in the name of the Government of the Grand Duchy humbly request to the leaders of the nations of the Region to complete the conference and achieve a long lasting peace for the region in memory of the Grand Duke. I was also informed that the Grand Duchess is flying here as we speak..." At this precise moment an attaché stepped forward and told something to the Ambassador showing him something at his smart phone. The ambassador had only time to put his hand over the mic before growing pale, those who were nearer to the ambassador got to hear him saying "You gotta be kidding me".

The reporters knew something was going on and on the wrong way. The last words of the Ambassador were "This is all for now. thank you for your assistance." and then he left quickly into a motorcade heading to the Embassy.

Emperor Julii was on his way to the Villa Nirobi when he felt his personal phone vibrating, the caller ID identified the call as coming from the Veomo Embassy in Directia.

"This is the Emperor... yes... I see... if there is anything you need, just let Us know and we'll do what We can to help..." The Emperor dropped the phone back in his pocket and promptly kicked the wall next to him as hard as he could. Hard enough that the polished steel toed boots that he always wore made a hole in the wall. "SON OF A BITCH!" he snarled. This was the first time in a very long time that Kiryu had seen him lose his cool.

"Your majesty! Get a hold of yourself!" Kiryu said.

"... he didn't make it..." The Emperor quietly said.

The Emperor took a minute to recollect himself. "Alright, lets get going we've got work to do."

--- City Hall, Istanbul ---

Ramius, Mayor Turan and Colonel Kemal were watching the broadcast from City Hall.

"Admiral Uzun will probably start getting more bold and think that he can drive out the Ducal forces from his territory. We'll see how he likes having a battleship and a fleet carrier around his territory." Ramius commented.

"Something else bothers me though... you notice his reaction to that message?" Turan said. "Something else just happened that was either almost or as bad as the Grand Duke's assassination."

"What ever it is, I don't like it. Something stinks..." The Colonel said.

Prime Minister Lantingham's jaw dropped when she heard the news from the hospital. How could something like this happen? Such a wonderful man and too short a reign. She had a speech written and got on live television to address the nation.

"Guten Abend Meine und Herren, I address you tonight in response to the horrific tragedy that occurred in St. John's tonight. Grand Duke Kahv Eirm was assassinated by the actions of madman. Those responsible for this truly heinous and despicable act will be found wherever they are. The Grand Duke was a great leader in every regard. It is terrible for a reign to be cut so short but the actions of lunatic. I have spoken with King Jason and and His Majesty along with myself absolutley condemm and deplore today's senseless and shameful act of violence. King Jason has called for a national day of mourning in memory of the Grand Duke. Both His Majesty and I send their most sincere condolences to the people of the Grand Duchy of Veomo and his family, and ask the people of San Lumen to keep Veomo in your prayers tonight. I wish to let the people of Veomo know you have a friend and ally in us and we will use all legal means to bring the perpetrators of this act to justice. We will stand with you during this tragic time. Good Night, God Bless the Kingdom of San Lumen and everybody else especially the Grand Duchy of Veomo. "

(OOC: Damn, sorry I missed all this happening, busy day. Thanks San Lumen for keeping King Edward in the RP.)

Chancellor Bentham spoke briefly with King Edward on the phone, before he contacted the government. Crown Prince Henry was ordered to stay indoors under the utmost security and border checks were heightened. As the country nearest to N.C. there was every chance that the assassin would pass through. If he did, he would not pass Celatoria's borders undetected.

Chancellor Bentham then gave a brief speech from North Chicanan, with the usual condolences and assurances. He knew it wouldn't change what people would think and fear, but he did what he could.

The Pharaoh was indulging in a strong drink of whiskey waiting for the other leaders to arrive. He was sitting alone, not laughing, not smiling, hardly thinking, just alone. He rocked slowly back and fourth in his chair, stunned at the news of the Grand Dukes shooting. "We're close to peace." the Pharaoh thought "And we're close to a world war." he realized as he slowly let the wire that the Grand Duke was dead out of his hand onto the floor. "So fragile.... I suppose that's the region right now. Paper floating in the air.". Just as that thought left the Pharaoh's mind his butler at the Villa Narobi Wiggins entered and said "Emperor Julii, King Jason, King Edward, and The Stadhouder are here at your request.". The Pharaoh nodded and got up to go into the other main room. He was a bit surprised by mention of The Stadhouder being their but no matter really.

Once in the room the other leaders had gathered in he greeted them "Thank you all for coming. Due to the obvious security concerns it was necessary for either the Queen or I to leave and I have elected to stay and lead the Imperial delegation."the Pharaoh looked around the room and into each mans eyes with conviction he did not normally have and spoke again "The Grand Duke is dead. Killed at a conference intended to bring peace to the region. Now we're on the brink of more war. What are we to do? Shall we all leave? Or shall we stay amid the danger and try and make a peace? I can't speak for you men here but I am staying. I advise you all to do what's in the best interests of your nations, as I am sure you will. But if you do stay for gods sake make sure your affairs in order.".

The Pharaoh paused a minute and took a drink of whiskey before speaking again, this time with a different less serious tone "Onto our security. Emperor Julii has increased his Imperial Guards here and I've order another hundred Praetorian Guards here. Any possible additions to security you can make should be taken. I'm not sure if this is just an isolated incident or if half the North Chicanan police force has been paid off. We must for our own safety assume the worst and take precautions.". The Pharaoh looked around the room to make sure the others were with him.

Almathea and Senior Guardsman Joseph Valentine rented out a car and were driving to the bar that Koslov had indicated. A block behind them was another rental car with members of fireteam Bravo. Unlike the previous night, Almathea wore a simple coat, under which she hid a P-90 sub-machine gun, a simple blouse, a pleated skirt and a pair of knee high boots that also hid a combat knife in one boot and throwing knives in the other. It was far less flashy outfit and one that would let her disappear in a crowed. Valentine wore bomber jacket that helped conceal his .44 magnum, a simple black t-shirt and a pair of cargo pants.

They made it to the bar without incident, while Almathea noticed the sign said "Closed" she walked in anyway. Inside she found only Koslov chatting with the bar keep. The reporter recognized her and waived her over and then gestured to the barkeep and he nodded and walked into the bar's office and closed the door behind him.

"So it's just you tonight?" He asked.

"Yep, just me and the new guy, Fyodor had a meeting he needed to attend to." Almathea took a seat next to him, while Valentine took a seat in a booth across from them. Koslov passed an un-opened beer bottle and an opener to her. "So what did you want to talk about?" She casually said as she opened the bottle. "And how did you get the place to yourself?"

"I know the barkeep, we go way back, I take people here when I conduct interviews. I'll get to the point, I don't have a name, but I have a face..." Koslov explained.

"What...?" She said, looking at him quizzically.

"The man who owned that gun" The reporter said, as he took a photo from his jacket pocket and slid it over.

Almathea looked at the man and didn't recognize him. "He said his name was Marco, but that's almost certainly a lie." Koslov continued.

"And how do you know this was him?" She asked.

"Because he lived next door to me, and I happened to be home when the Grand Duke was shot. It went down like this. I was sitting next to window while I was editing an article before submission, when I heard a loud popping noise. Now, I actually used to be a cop so I know what a silenced firearm sounds like. I put on this jacket, and as you can see..." Koslov showed that the pocket was modified to hide a camera. "...and I went to his apt, and knocked on the door, when he answered he got caught on video. I said I had heard a noise and wondered if he needed help. He assured me all was well, and before I knew it he was gone."

"Were you the entire time?" Almathea asked, wondering if the reporter knew they were in the apartment.

"No I went back to the office and tried to see if I could get a name to this face, no joy though. Then I found out Fyodor was there, and though you might be interested in this photo."

"How much do I owe you?" Almathea asked.

"First time's free." Koslov said with a smile.

"Alright then." Almathea said finishing up the beer and standing up. "You should be careful, whoever else is involved might still be around and not take kindly to investigative reporters." She warned.

"Got it covered..." He said with a smile, he pulled part of the jacket back revealing a shoulder holster and the butt of a semi-automatic pistol. "Watch yourself though." Koslov said, his tone serious. "These things usually end up being really sticky webs with a very nasty spider in the middle."

Almathea returned with a mock salute. "Valentine, time to get back."

"I'm staying. I am having members of the Kingdom's Secret Service flown in. If I may suggest we all should work collectively to bring the Grand Duke's assassin to justice. War is something I want to avoid at all costs. I know what horror war can bring. I do not want to see a repeat of what happened in 1848. That civil war/revolution brought unspeakable terror and horror. I have been in touch with my younger brother Scott who is acting as regent and all affairs are in order. I am staying until we make a peace. Its what my father King Olav would have done.'' King Jason said as he waited for the response of others in the room.

Emperor Julii took a seat at the table.

"We came here with a job to do and we're not leaving till that is done. I don't know about the rest of you, but if this was an act of terrorism, we're not going to give the terrorists the satisfaction of seeing us running off like a whipped dog." It was then the Emperor noticed the Grand Duke's blood was still on the sleeves of his coat, been a VERY long day... he thought.

"We've come so far, we're close to a solution on Anatolia, we're close to a peace with Byronmandy, to leave now would just be a waste. He would want us to finish our work here." The Emperor continued.

"As far as increases in security go, I've told my people to stay away from the Byronmandians, last thing we need is a brawl breaking out. Right now we have two fireteams patrolling the grounds, and one guarding the conference hall, along with the team at my villa. These guys are the best and most loyal soldiers in all of the Grangale Empire." He further said.

The Emperor then rubbed his thumb and middle finger of his left hand on his temples a moment before speaking again. "And on another note, it might be wise of the rest of you to do so as well..." He said as he revealed the AKS-74U he had in his coat and placed it on the table.
