(OOC: Actually, the Imperial Guard found the rifle just after the assassination and had it transported to Directia for analysis.) Emperor Julii was absently tracing his finger around the rim of his glass waiting for the conference to re-start. Almathea was still meeting with Koslov and Major Sari was still meeting with Colonel Kemal. Behind him, Kiryu was giving orders to the other fireteams. "What? Pff no, tell them we don't want any of the Northern Guards near our villa, they'll just get in our way... yeah... yeah... no, tell them that unless they want the Emperor to leave, that the Imperial Guards will not stand down their surveillance of the conference hall. If they were on their feet it wouldn't come to this... yeah, ok, yeah sounds good... yeah well you know what, tell them they can f*** off if they don't like it..." "You don't need to be so harsh, they're doing their best. No one could have seen this one coming." The Emperor absently said. |

(OOC: Since the assassination took place in North Chicanan, shouldn't the N.C authorities be the ones in charge of stuff like analyses, Grangale? Oh, and Celatoria will not blame N.C either.) |

(OOC: I'm putting the Emperor in a position that the Grand Duke wanted to speak with him face to face with something of importance which was why they were both walking in the garden, and the Emperor is of the believe that the assassination had something to do with it. The Emperor believes that the Grand Duke was requesting something of him with his last words and therefore feels a responsibility to get to the bottom of what happened.) The conference had yet to resume and the Emperor continued to mull over the day's events in his mind. What did he want to talk about...? Was it related to what got him killed...? The Emperor thought back to the first things the Grand Duke said. He was talking about Prince Alexi and Commodore Ramius... and as for Kendar... was he referring to the minister? He knew he should have left the investigation to the North Chicanan authorities, but the bottom line was that he didn't trust them. Not that he questioned their competency, but he wasn't sure if there was an insider. It was just as the Pharaoh had cautioned, there might be an insider or two within the NC police ranks. They didn't have enough information to trust anyone. Further more, he didn't want to leave it to a non-alliance member. The leaders of the Alliance I trust... I'll them them know what we find, if anything... He thought back to his days as a City Prosecutor, this wasn't the first murder investigation he was involved in, not by a long shot. I doubt a warlord by himself has the power to pull this off otherwise there would have been other targets by now... no... has to be an insider somewhere, but who... that rifle looked like it had Ukranian armory stamps... but that could just as easily be a red herring... "Colonel..." The Emperor spoke up, addressing Colonel Kiryu. "...get a message to Prince Alexi when you locate him... tell him to watch his back, whoever's behind this might be gunning for him too..." The Emperor said, making sure to keep his voice low enough so no one else could hear him. Edited by Grangale Empire, Sep 8 2011, 08:29 PM.

King Jason kept wondering how a assassination could take place during the conference. He hoped the conference would resume soon and that some kind of treaty could be worked out. Something also crossed his mind. What was the Great Finnish Reich's opinion in all of this? They seemed so isolationist. |

The Pharaoh was becoming quite impatient as he sat waiting for the other delegations to arrive. "How many more drinks can I order?" the Pharaoh thought almost dreading ordering another one. Today was not a day for drinking, the Pharaoh knew he needed to be in top form today. The Pharaoh scanned the room and noticed King Jason enter. The Pharaoh called him over and took the time to tell the King he was happy they would soon get to meet again in Alexandria after the conference. |

King Jason noticed the Pharaoh and sat down with him. King Jason expressed happiness regarding the trip to Alexandria as is younger brother. King Jason't doesn't drink so he ordered a Virgin Mary. In order to strike up discussion he asked a question of the Pharaoh. "Your Majesty the Great Finnish Reich was a no show at the Vienna Summit. My Secretary of State told me you had spoken with them, yet attempts by the Kingdom to contact them have been left unanswered. Do they have an isolationist policy?'' King Jason asked feeling as if he had come of as quite random.

The Pharaoh was a bit taken aback by the Finnish Reich Question. It had been awhile since he had heard from the Finnish Reich but it seemed he knew some more on the subject than the San Lumense "Looks like it. I've spoke with them briefly awhile back. They haven't joined the Vienna Alliance or really come out into the international stage at all. I'd say they're heavily isolationist leaning. The politics they seem to have however are in line with the Empire, so we view them in a favorable light. Especially since they keep Byronmandy thinking twice in Norway.". The Pharaoh hoped he had satisfied some of King Jason's curiosity into the Great Finnish Reich. |

Ambassador Temkoy was one of the last to arrive at Cantonal Hall. After receiving security clearance from the northern officers, Temkoy entered the meeting hall accompanied by the Grand Duke's staff that was with him. "Good day gentleman, my name is Ivan Temkoy, and I'm the ambassador from the Grand Duchy to North Chicanan, and I was requested by my government to represent the Grand Duchy." |

Emperor Julii sent Kiryu over to Ambassador Temkoy. "Ambassador, we know times are tough right now. The Emperor has sent me to tell you that if there is anything we can help with, feel free to ask." Kiryu said. |

The Stadhouder drank his coffee from the "goddess of coffee" in the dining room adjecent to the Cantonal Hall and went over the details with the Raadspensionaris. 'So you ordered the complete Gorinchem army division to move in the direction of the Veomese and Ukranian border? How do you think that will look? We just had a full blown war over the displacement of troops...' The Raadspensionaris said. 'That is just partially true Johan. Our troops do not leave our own territory, nor do they enter the territory of others.' the Stadhouder replied. 'So what? The Byronmander troop had not landed in Ixzara either.' the Raadspensionaris reacted. The Stadhouder frowned 'Ok, listen. We are not attacking anyone, we are just increasing our border security. If anyone sees that as an agressive act they clearly have a double agenda.' 'So what if they have one? It is a great opportunity to give us a bad reputation or to use it as an excuse for war.' the Raadspensionaris asked. 'Ok Johan let us assume you are right. Let us assume the highly unlikely scenario that someone will use this opportunity to start a war against the Seven United Provinces. Do you think we have taken no preparations, or that we will fight an honest fight we will almost certainly lose? Are you really that naive? Our army might be outdated, but who needs an army to fight an enemy?' The Raadspensionaris looked suprised 'What do you mean?' The Stadhouder smiled 'You can make that up for yourself. The only things I will tell you is that we will not fight anyone, and that we have no moral restrictions of any kind. Now let us enter the Cantonal Hall. I am curious about what will happen on this grim day.' The Stadhouder stood up, thanked the coffee goddess and headed for the Cantonal Hall. The Raadspensionaris followed him, still trying to make up his mind about what the Stadhouder just said. He had no idea, but he believed the man. The two men just were sat down just before Ambassador Temkoy entered the room. |
