"I am glad that peace has been acheivied. I also wish to thank the government of North Chicanian for hosting this conference.'' King Jason shook hands with President Wayne and expressed hope that they could have better relations in the future. He then headed to the airport for his flight home. He had a state visit to prepare for.

Message to the Emperor of the Empire of Grangale

The Stadhouder requests the Emperor of Grangale and anyone he wants to bring with him to meet this evening at Villa Rosa, the Seven United Provinces will make sure a good dinner will be served. The Stadhouder requests an informal meeting to decrease the tensions of the last months.

(OOC: Or aren't we in St. Johns anymore? In that case you are invited at New-Amsterdam. ;-))

(OOC: We could have this go on during the leaders last night there at St. John)

The Emperor arrived at Villa Rose with his two ever present aides, Almathea having returned from the errand the Emperor had sent her out on. The other two guardsmen were ordered to remain outside.

The three were greeted by the butler and lead to the dining area where the Stadhouder waited. The butler lead the Emperor to his seat, as he said the Emperor said. "I'm glad you were able to find the time to fit this informal meeting in. I think this is a matter important to both our nations."

When the Emperor and his two aides entered Villa Rosa the Stadhouder was already seated at the table. He was drinking a good glass of beer with the Raadspensionaris. He stood up from his chair approached the visitors and shook their hands. He said 'Welcome, please come in and make yourself at home. I hope the last couple of days did not take the best of you. It was tough for all of us, that is why I wanted this meeting to be as informal as possible. Please take a seat!'

All of them picked a chair and sat down and after the drinks were served the Stadhouder asked 'Cheers everyone! Well Emperor, what are your thoughts on the last couple of days?'

The Emperor took a drink from the mug in front of him, to moisten his mouth before speaking. "Hmm this is good beer." He said raising the mug a little before settling it back down.

"Well aside from the assassination, things went as I expected it would. Flaring passions were a given with the tense situation and all though I was confident we'd all be able to settle on something acceptable and workable.

Since we're practically neighbors, there's no reason why we can't be friendly neighbors, which is why I asked for this chat. I had a few things I's like to talk about. The nuclear waste dump, is a problem for us both, I would also like to talk about coordinating our air-sea emergency rescue services and the possibility of an non-agression treaty between our nations, I sense that siding with MVN put our country is something of a negative light to those outside of the VA." The Emperor explained and took another drink.

"About the dump site, let me make sure I have things right: We both have NBC warfare units patroling the site, while one of your fleets is patrolling the wester coast, and my 3rd fleet is keeping watch on the east, yes?"

The Stadhouder said 'I love a good glass of beer after a tough day.' as he took another sip.
'Do not get me wrong Emperor, maybe I attacked you much and hard the last couple of days and you certainly were allowed to attack me as well. In my eyes none of it is or was personal. Yes we do disagree on many subjects, yes we give eachother a hard time, but no we are not enemies. And if it is up to me we will never be.'

'I am glad the region has an agreement now, but I feel the war is far from over. As I told you I think your role in this war has been different than MVN's role. I completely understand it if you disagree with me, your in a difficult position on that behalf right now. But the fact is that Byronmandy and MVN have been enemies for as long as I can remember. You do not have this history with Byronmandy, therefore I think your dispute with them does not go as deep as it goes for MVN. The relation between MVN and Byro is a timebomb, gladly yours is much more stable.'

The Stadhouder took a map and opened it, he searched through some papers and said 'The nuclear waste dump is a problem indeed. The information I have here says that our first fleet is patrolling the western region of Nova Zembla and the army is controlling the border between the western part of the island (where the waste is located) and the eastern part (where the pirate town is). Your navy is patrolling the eastern region of the island and your NBC warfare units are working on capsulating the waste since it is too much and remote to ship it to somewhere else. You have done excellent work on fighting the pirates however the outpost on Nova Zembla is big enough to survive without supplies for a very long time.'

'We are currently working on modernizing our naval capacities so it would be a great opportunity to cooporate on air-sea emergency services.'

The Stadhouder thought for a second 'Hmmmm.... maybe even more important is the non-agression treaty you are talking about. Please let it be clear that the Seven United Provinces has no enemies at this moment and it is not our intention to have one in the near future. So ofcourse we will me more than happy to sign a non-agression treaty. However we will dissolve our cooporation if any of our allies is attacked. And I am not saying that because by accident Byronmandy turned out to be our ally, but because we hold our friends close and support them whenever possible.'

The party was speaking about serious matters but about less important things too. They spoke about home, vacations, hobbies, etc. etc. etc. The atmosphere was excellent and everyone was happy when the food was served. 'Exciting times like these make one hungry' the Stadhouder said and all of them had an excellent time.

"Oh not at all, none of what was said was taken personally." The Emperor said waiving his hand. "I too do not feel we are enemies and likewise would like to keep it that way."

"You are right we are in a rather difficult position. As a country just emerging from isolation, there are a few things we needed to prove. One was what sort of ally we would make. We needed to show that we are a steadfast ally. Secondly that we do not bend to threats. My country and Byronmandy obviously do not see eye to eye on much, but I try to keep things strictly business so to speak. Of course I can't say the same for some members of the Imperial Government, namely Councilor Arlington, the man comes from a very ambitious family and you can imagine how that goes." The Emperor continued.

The Emperor looked over the map, and the two leaders discussed how the matter would be handled. The Imperial NBC warfare troops would continue on encapsulating the waste, while the fleets continued their patrolling. And of how air-sea rescue actions would work and which nation would cover which sector. "And on those notes, if you require any assistance, feel free to ask."

Emperor Julii then addressed the the non-agression treaty. "That is completely understandable. We feel the same way regarding our Vienna allies, and I hope things never have to come to that. I will have our diplomats meet with your people at the Embassy in Directia to iron out the details."

The Emperor enjoyed himself the rest of the night and decided the Stadhouder was good company outside of a formal setting. Certainly a nice break from the wild "animal house" sort of parties the Pharaoh liked to throw. "If you ever wish to visit the Empire, allow me to extend an invitation."

After the Grangale party had left the Raadspensionaris and the Stadhouder took one last drink and evaluated the evening. 'That was good, wasn't it?' the Raadspensionaris asked. 'I believe so' the Stadhouder said.

The Stadhouder opened a bottle of beer for the Raadspensionaris and himself 'You know I think the Empire is misguided and misled by the circumstances. They are certainly in a different position than MVN.' The Raadspensionaris frowned 'Come on Baaper, no way MVN attacked Byronmandy just to make a point. They lost many young people themselves too. Nobody can play games on a scale like that.'

The Stadhouder nodded 'I certainly hope they can't.... Anyways, some good cooporation might come out of this evening. I am not sure on how to proceed with Nova Zembla though. After we get back to the Provinces make sure to plan meeting with the General in command.... Well Johan what do you think of it? Time to take a nap huh? We must be fresh for the meeting with King Edward tomorrow. Well, goodnight!' The Stadhouder emptied his bottle and left the room leaving the Raadspensionaris behind.

After he had emptied his own bottle the Raadspensionaris got up from his chair to go to his bed too. However on the way up there he changed his mind and returned to the living room. 'One more drink could not hurt' he said to an empty room.

At around 11AM the next morning King Edward and Chancellor Bentham walked the short distance to the Villa Rosa, escorted by bodyguards following the assassination, but nevertheless enjoying every moment of the late-morning sun.

Arriving at the Villa Rosa they were soon welcomed by the Stathouder and the Raadspensionaris and, after exchanging a few greetings in Dutch, settled into conversation.

The Dutch representatives expressed a slight degree of shock at being greeted in their own language, which the Chancellor was quick to latch onto.

"Yes, as a public servant I am required to speak all the languages present in the country to at least a conversational level, and the King too feels he should do so to better connect with his subjects", said the Chancellor, "and that's partly what we wanted to speak about today, in all truth."

The Chancellor continued, "Despite our countries having no disagreement, it's pretty clear that not all of the populace of either of our country is entirely happy with the current situation. I refer, naturally, to our possession of the low countries."

The King cut in sharply, "Certainly, I do not propose that my lands be cut into pieces, but I have every desire to ease the latent tension between our countries. Since the French seized control of your old lands so long ago, things have not been in order, and Celatoria's inheritance of the remaining French lands seems not to have eased this."

The Chancellor again jumped into the discussion, "So, what we propose is that citizens of your nation and subjects of ours who reside in the low countries, be allowed some rights with respect to their ability to move between the two areas, or reside. How does such a proposal sound? Is there anything you would wish to add?"

The Stadhouder and the Raadspensionaris were impressed how skilled the chancellor was with the Dutch language.

After they had some coffee the King explained his plans. After he had told his ideas the Stadhouder smiled. 'Fantastic! It is no secret that what happened in the past still hurts. Many times we managed to kick the French out, except for that one time over slightly more than a century ago. The French wanted Holland because they hoped to find and obtain the secrets of our economical succes. Our ancestors were driven out and traveled to the east until they found unhabited land, or at least that is what they thought it to be.' The Stadhouder sighed.

'However, the only secret of our succes was extreme hard work and our experience with the sea. The French had no clue and great parts of the land flooded in no-time. Time past, the land we had called home desintegrated and finally is became a part of the Kingdom of Celatoria.'

'Some of our citizens do blame the Kingdom of Celatoria though, but that is nonsense. They are still hurt and feel the low countries belongs to them. Those people will dislike anyone who is located in Holland no matter what. Our policy has never followed that.'

The Stadhouder frowned 'I love it that you have ideas for the Low Countries. But I do not get your proposal completely, can you maybe explain it a bit more?'
