The Premier knew it was time to tie up some lose ends, and when his cellphone rings he knew that there was some good news to him.

"Yes" he answered

"Sir it is done. A car crash in the Swedish mountain range, none will be able to recognize the poor victim" the person on the other side of the line said while watching a flaming car on the bottom of the range from his scope. It was an isolated area and the flames would take care of the remains. another John Doe to perish on the slippery secondary mountain roads.

"Good good" the old man said. "You did a fine job."

"Thank you Sir! Anything for the greater good!" The call ended and the man vanished on the thin air of the ranges.

Later that week, Kenneth Baker would die on a prison riot... and Admiral Uzun would have had the same fate of Burakgazi when the Coalition Forces found him at his base...

--- Somewhere in Anatolia ---

General Metran had decided to take his most loyal soldiers and lay low for awhile, before hiring out their services. But first, there was a little matter of Admiral Uzun, Metran didn't much like being used the way he was by the Admiral and decided on a little pay back before he slipped into the night. He had his agents anonymously deliver some information that Kemal and his Imperial backers would find... useful.

See how that bastard likes getting bombed...

--- Aboard the GIS Venator ---

Now this is interesting... Ramius said reading though an encrypted email that was forwarded to him from IIS agents working in Istanbul. Apparently they had some how figured out how to hack into Admiral Uzun's network and get into his private files.

The Commodore and Prince Alexi were reading though some of the files that had been sent to Ramius, when one caught their eyes. "Wait look at this... looks like the Admiral's been recording everything in his log..." Alexi said pointing to one of the files that was titled "Logbook"

The two commanders read though it, their eyes lighting up. "This is it... this ties the Admiral to Gruber AND Kendar...!" Ramius said.

"...You know, these files make the Admiral a liability, I think it's a safe bet Kendar will try to knock him off. We can't wait for reinforcements or the 5th Fleet to arrive..." Prince Alexi said.

"So you're saying that now that we know where his base is, we do a smash and grab and abduct Uzun?" Ramius replied.

"That's exactly what I'm saying, and that we do it soon..." The other replied.

"Well then, lets get to planning..."

--- Several hours later ---

"Alright, Tornados from Istanbul will fly in escorted by Rafales and F-14Ds from the Midgard their job is to take out the installation's air defenses, once down, the fighters will remain on station to provide support to the ground troops that will be transported in via V-22s. Meanwhile the 6th, 4th and part of Prince Alexi's fleet (crewed by Kransodans loyal to him) will provide a safe air corridor to Istanbul in case and Aegis ships get any ideas. The goal of this operation is to capture Admiral Uzun, alive. We've receive information tying him to the assassination of the Grand Duke and we need him for questioning." Captain Jintao said, briefing the troops aboard the Venator.

"Are there any questions? No? Good, commence operation."

--- Along the Black Sea coast ---

Admiral Uzun's base was situated in an inlet making the base hard to detect, but thanks to an anonymous informant (who unaware to everyone was General Metran) the coalition forces had the exact coordinates.

Tornados armed with ALARM anti-radiation missiles roared in low beneath the radar and let lose with their ordinance, gouging out the base's eyes and ears before they even knew what was going on. With the radars for the base's SAMs down, the second wave of Tornados armed with JP233s flew in and cratered the base's run way before the Admiral's F-16s could take off.

"We totally caught him on the shitter didn't we..." Captain Jintao commented as he listened to reports coming in to the Venator's CiC. With Admiral Revil in Istanbul, Commodore Ramius was left in command of the operation.

Ramius, Jintao and Alexi listened in as reports came in from a squad of Rafales armed with Exocet missiles swooped in and ravaged the docked frigates and destroyers.

--- base command center ---

Admiral Uzun stormed into the command center furious. "What the f#$% are you morons doing?! How did they get though our defenses?!"

"Sir... they must have flew in under the radar!" An officer said.

But... how did they find this base...? The Admiral thought. ...Metran, you bastard...! He figured the General had sold him out.

"What the hell is the Varcolac Squadron doing?! I'm not paying those mercenaries to sit there and play with their dicks all day!" Uzun fumed.

"Captain Dalca reports that they've already taken off and are moving to intercept the hostiles." Another junior officer reported.

--- Venator CiC ---

"Sir, we have radar contacts from the west, appears to be a fighter squadron." One of the Venator's crew called out.

"Have Skull and Raven squads intercept, tell them to stay on their toes, I bet it's those mercenaries from before." Ramius ordered.

"Sir, Midgard reports sonar contact to the north." the crewman called out.

"Figured he'd have subs lurking," Prince Alexi commented.

"Engage the submarines with ASROCs." Ramius ordered.

"We should send in the V-22s while they're still confused." Jintao commented.

"You're right... Send in the capture force." Ramius ordered.

--- Venator's flight deck ---

Hatsumomo was glad to be lifting off from the Venator's deck, she had been sea sick nearly her entire time on the ship. "Alright people as soon as we touch down, we're busting inside the command center, shoot anyone who isn't an Admiral." Sgt. Sevchenko said, as Hatsumomo checked the scope on her Mk.14 EBR and the V-22 named Broken Lizard sped off with it's cohorts.

The V-22s sped in low, and Hatsumomo could see the fierce dogfight over head between the F-15s and the F-14Ds, a moment later she saw Rafales joining the aerial melee. As they neared the base she could see the smoldering husks of radar and SAM installations and the burning wreaks of what used to be warships gradually slipping into the seas.

A moment later the V-22s arrived on target and Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, and Fox squads were fast roping down from the V-22s. As usual Hatsumomo remained on the V-22 to provide sniper fire support. She was amazed at how sluggish the warlord's response was. We really caught them on the shitter this time...!

-- base command center ---

"Admiral, enemy infantry has entered the command center complex!" An officer shouted.

"Idiots, you're all a bunch of worthless idiots!" The Admiral shouted as he drew his M-9 pistol and pulled the slide back. Uzun ran to one of the consoles that was fed by the security cameras and saw his troops putting up a valiant effort, but were being pushed back by the Imperial forces.

Damn they're almost here... "Everyone arm up, they'll be here soon!" He ordered. An unessesary order as one of the officers had already unlocked the weapons lockers in the back, and the soldiers in the command center were grabbing M-4 carbines out of the lockers.

Sevchenko took the lead and Alpha was making it's way to the command center. When they reached the heavy doors he realized they didn't have enough explosives to blast though. "Garza, can you hack the door?"

"You need to ask?" Corporal Garza replied as he got to work on the door. A moment later the doors opened and flash bangs were thrown into the command center, and a few seconds later Alpha rushed in.

Sevchenko took several out with his AK-107, while Natko took several more out with his Saiga-12 semi-automatic shotgun. "Give it up Admiral!" Sevchenko shouted.

"F@#$ you!" and a burst of 9mm rounds was the answer the Sergent got from the Admiral. Sevchenko expected this and loaded his Mk.23 pistol with rubber bullets to subdue the Admiral. A moment later, most of the officers in the command center were dead or had fled, and they were on their way out with an unconscious Admiral Uzun.

--- Aboard the V-22 Broken Lizard ---

Hatsumomo had sniping any thing that moved when she saw a group emerge from the command center, she trained her scope on them and saw it was Alpha. "Hey it's them, and they got the football!" She shouted to the pilot. The V-22 touched down and Alpha piled in.

"GO! GO! GO!" Natko shouted to the pilot.

--- Skies above ---

Captain Dalca saw Uruz loaded into a V-22 and decided to call it a day. "Varcolac, we've done all we can for them, fall back to Phantoma Base."

"Captain, the enemy is disengaging, should we pursue?" Ensign Buran asked.

"Negative, they're not a priority, our job is to cover those transports." Captain Lee replied.

Moments later, Ramius, Jintao and Alexi were on the Venator's deck watching as an unconscious Uzun was hauled off the Broken Lizard and taken to the brig.

Commodore Ramius and Prince Alexi were in the interrogation room when Admiral Uzun was brought in. The room was funished with a plain metal table with two chairs on opposite sides and another in the corner, and the sort of spotlamp that seemed to make the room hotter. On the table was a pot of royal milk tea that Ramius had brewed up.

Ramius and Alexi had somewhat rehearsed how the interrogation would go. The two decided to take the “good cop/bad cop” approach where the Prince played the role of bad cop and the Commodore would play the good cop.

Ramius noticed the Admiral was rather ragged and worn out looking. As if he hadn't slept, which was rather odd as he had been unconscious for the past several hours. “Have a seat Admiral, I apologize for the manner which you have been summoned here and for the accommodations.” Ramius asid gesturing to the chair. The Admiral, didn't bother looking at the two and simply took his seat.

“Well you've got me, now what? Show trial? Execution?” The Admiral tiredly said.

“For now none of the above, just want to know who's been backing you up.” Ramius lightly said.

“We already know it's Premier Kendar, so you may as well fess up to it.” Alexi said coldly said.

“What do I get in exchange for answering that question.” The Admiral defiantly said.

“Well for the time being you get to live, you do know what happens when Kendar decides people are a loose end or a liability...” Ramius said.

“And what proof do you have that I've been getting assistance?” Uzun countered.

“Same way we found out where your little base was that at this moment is being flatted by T-160s and B-1Bs.” Prince Alexi said, making sure to add a touch of gloating in his voice.

“...bulls#$*...” The Admiral said.

Ramius went to the intercom and tapped in the code for the bridge. “The is the bridge.” Captain Jintao's voice came in though a speaker.

“Captain, report on the bombing attack.”

“Albatross 1 reports that all major base facilities have been hit, Dollarbird 4 confirms that the base is knock out of operation.” Jintao reported.

“Thank you Captain.”

“I bet you're wondering what happened to those Neoplantan mercenaries and why they aren't shooting down four flights of bombers...” Prince Alexi gloated. “Our F-14Ds and Rafales chased them off, north to Veomo it seems...” The Prince continued.

“You look tried Admiral... Pour yourself a cup of tea.” Ramius said.

“It's over Admiral...” Alexi said. “We know Kendar is backing you, and it's a safe bet that Kendar knows we have you, that makes you a liability to him...”

“You're right... it is over... Kendar contacted me just before the assassination, he meant to also contact Metran, but wasn't able to reach him it seems. He told me my woes here would be over and that he managed to get that criminal Baker and his contact list into his hands. He also put me in touch with those mercenaries." The Admiral said.

"So you're telling us, that Kendar planned out and carried out the Grand Duke's assassination...?" Prince Alexi asked.

"That is what I'm telling you..." Uzun answered.

The warlord continued spilling his guts for the next 30 min or so, before he was taken back to his cell, leaving the Commodore, the Prince and two marines alone. Ramius looked at one of the marines. "Did you get all that?"

"I did sir." The marine answered, taking a tape recorder out of his pocket.

"And you?" Ramius said looking at the other marine.

"Likewise sir." The other answered.

"Well, that one's your copy." Ramius gestured towards the second marine and the Prince took the tape recorder from him. "So what now?"

"I'll have to get back to my fleet, then get a broadcast out... I might have to rally my supporters and evict Kendar by force." The Prince answered.

"Well, we've got your back. The additions to the 4th and the 5th should be here soon, and we'll provide naval support." Ramius answered.

"I hope it won't come to that, but I don't think Kendar is going down without a fight..." Prince Alexi said.

--- several hours later ---

Ramius was in his quarters when Jintao entered. "Hey we got a problem..."

"When don't we have a problem...?" Ramius retorted.

"Yeah well come on..." Jintao said beconing him to follow.

A few minutes later the two were in one of the brig's cells... looking at Uzun's corpse hanging from the cealing.

"The guard said he found out when he brought in his dinner." Jintao said.

"Well... we'll have to get him down from there..."

The Sarrum of Ikuani was dining with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Empire of Monaco-Ville-Nice when the Imperial Seneschal Jibril ibn Imad entered the private room and spoke solely to the Sarrum, after bowing.

"M'lord, the Premier of Veomo is making a communicate on all regional news networks. He's blaming the Grand Duke's brother in law of the assassination plot."

The Sarrum hold his fork on the middle of the way when he heard it.

"Mr. Beaudelairen, I believe we must watch the news." he calmly said, dispatching the seneschal whom came back a minute later with a tv set.

on the news a young woman was giving the report. on the bottom of the screen it read: Veomese Government accuses Price Alexi

"On this early afternoon Premier Gustav Kendar of the Grand Duchy of Veomo made a statement, accusing Prince Alexi of being the mind behind the assassination plot against the Grand Duke of Veomo, His Highness Kahv Eirm. The Premier also requested the assistance of the international community to arrest the Prince and bring him to Veomese Courts."

The image than changed to the Conference Room of the Parliament of Veomo where a notably anguished Premier was standing on the podium.

"My countrymen! Terrible are the news I am fated to deliver you. People of Veomo and of the world! After long time and resources spent on investigation, I have been recently informed that we have come with the identity of the devious mind behind the assassination of the Grand Duke and the disappearance of the Grand Duchess." He make a long pause to let those words sink. "Prince Alexi is such mind! And now I make an appeal to the international community, help us bring Alexi of Krasnodar to justice so that justice is done! I have ordered the Second Fleet to arrest Prince Alexi, but we'll need assistance since he is currently commanding a fleet himself. I urge the men under his command to mutiny and arrest Alexi of Krasnodar, so that justice may be done. I urge the international community not to let him flee unpunished. Thank you."

The image goes back to the young woman on the studio who was now giving a chronology of the events on the Grand Dukes Case.

--- Aboard the Relentless ---

Captain Dmitri Borzakov, captain of Prince Alexi's flagship the Relentless. Dmitri and most of the Relentless's crew as well as most of the fleet, were Krasnodars and remained loyal to the Prince Alexi.

"It appears we've been pre-empted your Highness." The captain commented on Kendar's announcement.

"I'd be lying if I said I expected this, but I'm not surprised the he eventually fingered me. Still we got those files to the ones who needed them." Prince Alexi said, referring to one of the Generals and to the Grangale Empire's imperial government.

"Captain we have an incoming transmission from General Andrei Konovalev." The ship's communications officer called out. Konovalev was commander of the 6th Army, which had once been the Krasnodar 2nd Army.

"Put it though." The Prince said, already having an idea what Konovalev had to say. Konovalev had been long time friends of his late father.

"My Prince, we've heard Kendar's announcement, and as you expect, the men of the 6th Army stand with you. I've also been in contact with General Andropov of the 5th Army, and he too stands with us." The General said.

"I appreciate your support General. We will take our country back."

"Don't mention it your highness, you've always been like a nephew to me, your father would be proud."

All in all, Prince Alexi had the backing of the, his own command, and the 5th and 6th Armies which were made up of Krasnodars. He had no intent to splitting Veomo, and relied on Krasnodars simply because he was more confident of their loyalties. The two nations had only just been united and Alexi was not sure where the Veomoese commanders stood.

An hour later he was ready to make his own announcement. He watched the cameraman count down with his fingers.

"Greetings all, I am Prince Alexi, brother to the Grand Duchess and brother-in-law to the late Grand Duke. Recently Premier Kendar has accused me of being behind the assassination plot of my brother-in-law, and the disappearance of my beloved sister. The Premier has yet to present evidence that I was involved. I however have proof that it was in fact the Premier who plotted the assassination. Naturally he will deny this, and declare this proof lies, but I assure you it is the truth. I have here testimony from the warlord Admiral Uruz, implicating the Premier in the plot."

The Prince then held up a tape recorder and played it next to the microphone.

"I will also point out, that by assasinating the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess, it was Kendar himself who stood to gain the most. I now ask of all of you, to stand with me, to bring Gustav Kendar to justice. I especially implore the Veomose military commanders to stand with us. We are now brothers and Kendar's injustice was not inflicted upon my family, but on all of us. And on a personal note, I demand that Premier Kendar announce the fate of my sister!"

--- Aboard the GIS Venator ---

Commodore Ramius were listening to Kendar's announcement when Jintao walked up to him with a message. "Letter from HQ."

Ramius took the letter and read though it.

TO: Commodore Iskander Ramius
FROM: Imperial Military General Headquarters
SUBJECT: Veomo

- Confidential -

Orders:

The Imperial Council has yet to formalize the details of it's official position on this matter, however it will make an announcement soon declaring support for the Prince, given the evidence provided by you to the IIS, GHQ has decided that it will support Prince Alexi if he decides to retake the country. Due to your relationship with the Prince, the decision was made you grant you over all command of the 5th and 6th Fleets in support of Prince Alexi.

"Wow... they're putting me in charge of the 5th and 6th Fleets too now." Ramius said.

"Won't be long till you make admiral then." Jintao commented.

"Orders are pretty much to back up our buddy the Prince, and mentions the Council will make an official answer, one they get around to ironing the details out." Ramius said.

"Yeah figures. Well looks like we have more work to do." The other said.

As the accusations of Prince Alexi hits the news, Premier Kendar knew he had no other choice then call for a meeting. The Veomese Government then emits a request to all the member governments of the Vienna Alliance.

Quote:

To: ALL MEMBERS OF THE VIENNA ALLIANCE
From: THE GOVERNMENT OF THE GRAND DUCHY OF VEOMO
Subject: EMERGENCY MEETING

Esteemed Members of the Vienna Alliance, given the lies accusations of Prince Alexi, and due to the sensibility of the evidence I have against him and other subjects involved on the plot, that if made public could end up on the hidding of these same subjects, and considering that the region has no other body that we can appeal to in order to avoid war against our brothers and sisters of Krasnodar whom have been deceived by the Prince I hereby, as highest representative of my government during these difficult times, invoke the Article V (2) (1), and convoke for an Emergency Meeting to be held so as we can provide the evidence we have to the members of the alliance.

Signs,
Premier Gustav Kendar, Protector of the Realm of the Grand Duchy of Veomo.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense, Marshal Markum Iubek was receiving the news that the 5th and 6th army divisions had sided with Prince Alexi, the call for the meeting seemed more needed than ever as civil war seemed to be in the near future of the Grand Duchy.

Emperor Julii was looking forward to finnally going back home to Directia when Kiyru returned with a message.

Are you kidding me...?! He thought. "Tch, I guess we're going back to Vienna." Upon arriving at Directia, Emperor Julii was to give an announcement declaring the Empire's support for Prince Alexi. He turned to Almathea and spoke. "Tell the Council they can go ahead and give the announcement themselves, since I need to be back in Vienna again."

The Emperor thought a moment what the meaning of this might be, and figured Kendar would make an attempt to implicate the Prince. He decided before sometime while in Vienna he's try to get the Phaeroh and the Queen, and King Jason together for a little chat. "Oh, and have the IIS put together it's evidence against Kendar, I want it ready by the time the meeting begins."

--- Imperial District Press Room, several hours later ---

Scarlett took a gulp from her glass of ice water, this time it was her who pulled the short straw and was to give the announcement. She watched the camera man count down with his fingers, and when his hand made a fist she spoke.

"Good evening everyone.

As you know there has been an ongoing investigation into the assassination of Grand Duke Kahv Eirm. While Premier Kendar has made an announcement implicating Prince Alexi in the plot, how ever he has thus far presented no evidence. In contrast Prince Alexi was able to produce proof that not only was Premier Kendar in collusion with Ixzaran warlords but also implicated in the assassination plot. At this time, unless Premier Kendar is able to effectively repudiate Admiral Uzun's testimony, the Grangale Empire shall pledge it's support for Prince Alexi."

Queen Cleopatra and Pharaoh Mark Antony were lying in bed, the Queen resting her head on the Pharaoh's chest. She spoke softly to the Pharaoh in a hushed whisper "When I called you here to the Empire to aid me in my civil war I offered you the Empire.". The Pharaoh laughed and said "You offered me more than that." he said grabbing at her. The Queen laughed "Stop fouling around and listen!". The Pharaoh smiled saying "Do I ever stop fouling around? What do you need me to listen to?". The Queen then became more serious and said "Was it worth it? Not just for the money or the power?". The Pharaoh gave the Queen a serious glance and then said "Feeling sentimental today?". The Queens glare on the Pharaoh hardened before he said "Coming here for you was enough. Before you was only pretenders. Their can only be one Cleopatra.". The Queen smiled and kissed the Pharaoh as the door outside was knocked.

The Pharaoh sighed and yelled "What is it!!". An aide to the Queen nervously walked in and bowed near frantically saying "The Premier of Veomo has called for an emergency meeting between the members of the Vienna Alliance.". The Pharaoh fell back to bed and sighed "Well looks like it's back to Vienna! Suppose we should make a palace their as well....". The Queen then looked at the Pharaoh and said "Remember civil war in Veomo can't be allowed to happen. We must do whatever we must to avoid it.". She then turned her head and looked at the aide and said "Ready my jet!".

--- Istanbul Port ---

Ramius and Jintao leaned against the railing on the second floor balcony of the office building that the Imperial Navy had taken over. Across from them was the dock where the Venator was docked, next to it was the GIS Midgard, flagship of the 6th Fleet, and the next dock was the GIS Jotunheim, an Admiral Kuznetsov-class carrier and flagship of the 5th Fleet. The Venator certainly looked diminutive next to the two fleet carriers, but she was made for a different role than the two leviathans. The rest of the ships were anchored just off shore, and squads of Rafales, F-14Ds, MiG-29Ks and navalized Typhoons were flying CAP over the area.

"You think it'll come down to a civil war?" Jintao asked, taking a sip from a styrofoam cup of bad coffee.

"That's up to the Prince and Kendar." Ramius dryly said. The Imperial Navy now had three full fleets deployed to the area. Though he considered sending the 6th back home, the re-organized full strength 4th and the 5th seemed plenty to him, though that would depend on how things would go later. Quite frankly he himself was getting tired of this extended deployment and wanted to go back home to Directia. He had a younger sister back home in college, while they wrote each other regularly he still wanted to check up on her. Since their parents died in an accident when he was a teenager, she was the only family he had.

Prince Alexi for his part had taken his fleet to Abkahzia to meet with General Konovalev, rally support, and call for Kendar's arrest and trial. The Prince had insisted that he did not want things to decend into civil war, but now that he and Kendar were flinging accusations at each other. Where things could go would be anyone's guess.

"You know if it's all the same, I'd rather just go home for awhile. They've been sending us from one hotspot to another." Jintao complained. "First the pirates, ok, that was a domestic issue, then the warlords yeah ok fine, then the war, and now this..." Jintao continued after taking another sip. "And the least they could do is give us coffee that doesn't taste like armpit!" Jintao growled as he flung the half empty cup off the side.

"I hear you, I hear you." Ramius sighed. "Though I hear the Emperor is back in Vienna. He seems to be a reasonable enough guy, so hopefully things don't blow up out here... again..." He looked back at the gathered ships, aircraft flying around like bees, the fighters flying CAP and anti-submarine helicopters patrolling with their sonar buoys. Amongst the ships, the large Kirov-class guided-missile battlecruiser the GIS Hrist stood out like a titan amongst midgets among the destroyers and frigates. The ship with it's P-700 Granit missiles was meant to kill carriers and Ramius wondered if a beast like that was even needed here.
