--- GIS Venator --- Prince Alexi returned to the Venator's conference room after taking a call. "Commodore, I need a V-22, I need to get to conference." "Wait what?" Ramius asked, rather stunned at the sudden request. "Please just trust me, you can even load it with your Imperial Marines if you need to keep an eye on me. I just have to get there, and no one there can know yet, even his Majesty." Ramius thought for a moment, before going to the intercom. "Jintao, get a V-22 and a platoon of marines prepped for flight to Vienna, and keep it on the DL if you know what I mean..." A moment later Alexi was on a V-22 bound for Vienna. The V-22 would remain under the radar, and land just at the edge of the compound where the conference room was. --- IIS HQ, Directia --- "Those guys have got to be Veomese alright." Jinghua commented after she listened to the boosted audio. "All right, I've got no idea about this one. This is news to me." Ulrich said after listening. "Back to what you said earlier, how it was too perfect that all the attention was on Kendar... You think that what ever third party is out in the shadows is behind this theft?" "That's the most likely scenario," She replied. "OK let's look over the dossiers again, someone else has to have a motive to seize power besides the Premier and the Prince." Jinghua ordered, quickly taking charge. Several hours later Ulrich noticed something in one of the dossiers. "Hey guys, I don't if this means anything but according to these files on Marshal Lubek, apparently he and Grand Duke Lemik Eirm weren't exactly on the best of terms. If there was a personal component to this...? Not only that... he and Kendar sure look a like." Jinghua looked over the files. "You might be onto something here..." "OK tell me if I sound crazy... An young ambitious and very patriotic man enrolls in the military academy. He meets the future Grand Duke and the two don't get along from day one. He starts to think the Grand Duke a fool and conspires to take control. The Grand Duke dies leaving his son in charge. The man, now a marshal in the army sets a plan in motion. He uses his uncanny resemblance to one Gustav Kendar to impersonate him and enlists the aid of an Anatolian warlord. Also while posing as Kendar, he tracks down the international arms dealer Kenneth Baker and though him, contacts Dolf Gruber who pulls the trigger on the son of his nemesis. Meanwhile all the attention is directed to Kendar and the Prince who just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, of the right place at the right time as far as the man is concerned." "So where does that leave Kendar and the Prince?" Antares asked. Jinghua though a moment. "They're on to him. They're pretending to dance to his tune and while he's busy watching them, someone is creeping up behind him... At least that's my theory. It's all rather weak circumstantial evidence, but there's a lot of it and it does add up." "Hmm so our problem now is evidence huh? Boris should be able to get into their military network and from there we should be able to get into Lubek's personal files, though that's only IF he has them stored on the network." Antares suggested. "I don't think he's as careless as Uzun, but do it anyway." Jinghua said. |

--- IIS HQ, Directia --- Several hours later "OK so, if Lubek is behind all this, he's covered his tracks pretty damn well, no private files or anything." Boris explained. Jinguha Li had gone down to his office in the basement levels and took a seat opposite his in the large cubicle. "So we got nothing then?" She asked. "Nothing as far as the assassination goes, but... Get this, their Special Forces Unit 001, the Phantom Unit, is under Lubek's direct command. Their Phantom Unit is pretty much their wetworks unit, the equivalent of our Foxhound or Spectre teams. Now look at this..." Boris said pointing to a table that he brought up on a monitor. "...here, Phantom was deployed on a classified mission, I tried to hack it but it was going to take days, so instead I hacked into their quartermaster's database and looked up what was procured. AK-108s, radiation suits, anti-radition meds..." "The NBC unit on Nova Zembla are issued AK-108s. Looks like we found who was behind the theft... but that doesn't get us any closer to who is behind the assassination." Jinghua commented. "No, at this point I think it would be a good idea to contact MVN's intelligence service. Their doing their own investigation, and we should pool what we know with them." Boris suggested. A few moments later Jinghua Li was on a secure line trying to contact her counterpart. |

Iblīs Head of Mukhabarat, the Empires lead intelligence organization was fast at work in his large office. He was busy trying to learn all he could about the terrorist's in the Nubia apparent newly elected leader Mahmet Pasha when one of his phones with a secure line to the Grangale Empire began to ring. It was not rare for Mukhabarat to be in communication with their Grangale counterparts especially since the alliance between the two nations and the Byro-Imperial War. Iblīs picked up the phone and simply said "Yes?". On the other line was Jinghua Li, his counter part in the Grangale Empire. The two exchanged some brief small talk and then it was down to business. Li spoke on the recent findings that Veomo's Phantom special forces might have been responsible for stealing nuclear material from Nova Zembla. Phantom being under the direct command of the now implicated Marshal Lubek of Veomo. Iblīs listened intently to the Grangales findings and knew his organization had some findings of their own to contribute to the Grangales. It seemed the picture might be clearing after so much uncertainty in recent weeks. Iblīs explained to Jinghua Li that the Imperial investigation to the Grand Duchesses crash site had determined that a Stinger missile had brought down the plane. Though their was no way to directly link the crash to Veomese traitors or Lubek. However these facts mixed with recent Stinger deliveries in Veomo left more questions than answers. Iblīs then delved into a more sensitive matter saying "Miss Li this needs to stay one hundred percent off the record. In the recent war between Byronmandy and rebels from the Great Finnish Reich, their was a level of Imperial support for the rebels. Mukhabarat sent a team to Norway in support of the rebels led by Karl Murto. Once Celatoria became involved much to the Empires ire, we made the decision to terminate our support for Murto... Terminate it forever....... We however did take with us a great many of Murto's effects. In these effects we learned of Murto and Lubek making a pact of sorts to help each other ascend to power. Lubek provided the nuclear materials and Murto was to assemble them and test them against Byronmandy. We believe if the trials were successful Lubek would use them in his quest to seize power in Veomo. In any event we seem to have uncovered compelling evidence against Marshal Lubek in all places Norway...". The Director then waited for Li's thoughts on this major uncovering by Mukhabarat. |

"Off the record it will stay, I assure you. This certainly sheds a floodlight on what's been going on. It definitely ties him with the theft of the nuclear materials, it give him a motive to steal it. The dilemma now is how to bring out this information without Byronmandy hearing about its origins and setting off another war..." Jinghua thought for a moment. "I suppose we could say they were brought in by what was left of Murto's people looking for asylum somewhere?" She suggested. "As far as the issue with the Stingers go, His Majesty took up their intelligence chief's offer to inspect the ones they have in storage. ArmsTech had a unique way of manufacturing its hardware, the inspection team would be able to tell if the Stingers were from Baker or not. The other thing we intend to look into is which army unit does the armory where the Stingers are kept serve. If they supply Lubek's unit, that's just another thing to tie him to this whole mess." "Lets recap what we have going on here so far... We learned the Grand Duchess's plane was brought down by a Stinger missile. Our informant states that he delivered a shipment to an unknown Veomese party from Kenneth Baker, who had been selling his company's products on the black market. The Veomese say that there were two shipments, one as part of an undercover operation... wait... who was in charge of that...?" Suddenly she realized something. "I'll have me people here find out who was in charge of that undercover operation, if it was Lubek, then not only do we have him tied to the nuclear materials theft, but also to the Stinger shipment, and from there, the downing of the Duchess's plane. To continue though, we then have a rouge general with ties to Lubak, both helping each other to rise to power. Looks more and like Kendar is the fall guy who just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm not sure how Alexi plays into this right now, if he just got sucked into things or if he as a more active role in things. Though, we do not suspect him as part of the assassination plot." She explained. Minutes after the secure phone call. "Boris! I need you to find out who was in command of this operation." Jinghua said, placing a folder next to Boris's computer. Boris scanned though the files "Ahh... this is going to take me some time..." He said. "Then you better get started now." She countered. About an hour later, Boris called Jinghua back in. "That operation... it was the Phantom Unit that carried it out..." Boris said. "It gets better though, I decided to snoop around a little more, and you know the unit that picked up Baker in Anatolia? That was also the Phantom Unit..." "It's got to be him then... Kendar and Alexi were just fall guys, it all points to Lubek..." She softly said to herself. Moments later she sent a secure fax to Iblīs with their recent findings. Edited by Grangale Empire, Nov 7 2011, 04:54 PM.

As all delegations were already inside the room, Premier Gustav Kendar made a movement that nobody expected. He stood up, look into the eyes of each monarch there present and said. "Your Majesties, first of all I apologize for all the misunderstandings that happened until this very moment. I can assure you all that none of them was made on bad faith. After this recess that took even more time than what was foreseen at a start, I believe it was a necessary break to ease the spirits, and allow calm to settle." He took a deep breath before continuing. "I believe also it was enough time to your teams to finish their own analysis on the information we presented and the wreckage of the Grand Duchess plane. I believe that on this time I will leave the stand to you so you may share your concerns on your findings." The Premier kept talking for a while yet praising the effectiveness and professionalism of each nation agencies, for what only very few people present in the room noticed two events that occurred... the first one was that members of the Grand Ducal Guard, which was the only branch that was outside of the Ministry of Defense of the Grand Duchy, substituted the members of the Veomese Army that were officiating as security agents to the delegation. The second event was a more subtle one, the exit of the Director of the RIS. ---*-*--- Somewhere outside the conference room The Director of the Veomese RIS was standing outside the closed doors when a text came in, the message was simple. "the hounds are on the trail". It was all coming to an end... |

Emperor Julii was sitting at his chair, when Almathea leaned over and placed her mobile phone in front of him. He read the text message and his eyes narrowed just a little. He replied back and gave the phone back to it's owner. Outside the conference hall, Kiryu read the message which read "stay alert, keep an eye on him" and placed the phone back into his pocket. As usual Kiryu remained outside, on stand-by in case the Emperor needed something outside done. Since the Grand Duke's assassination he had two Imperial Guardsmen in full combat gear backing him up, likewise inside, Almathea had two more Guardsmen with her. He told the Guardsman to remain where they were, while he took a seat in a different part of the lobby where he could discreetly watch the RIS Director. He couldn't help the feeling something big was about to happen... |

Pharaoh Mark Antony and Queen Cleopatra were both sitting at their seats listening to the Premier speak. Security was at a premium as always with the Royal couple. They traveled with a full detail of Praetorian Guards and in the meeting room the Royals were accompanied by several members of the elite Praetorian Guards, Imperial Horse Guard unit. These elite members of the Royals personal guard each wore distinct and colorful military uniforms from their region of origin. They also carried their own personal weapons of choice. They flanked the royals on either side and from behind. Silently watching, waiting, ready to defend the Royals at a moments notice. Queen Cleopatra spoke first saying simply "Thank Premier. It seems we may have been misled and over zealous in the start of our investigation. For this I apologize Premier. It seems we've all here been massively deceived on a grand scale. Deceived by one of the Grand Dukes own officers, bent on regicide and pursuing power at any cost. After a combined investigation between the Grangales and our own intelligence agency we have reason to believe the Grand Duke was betrayed by none other than Marshal Lubek! Emperor Julii do you care to reveal our findings?". |

At the precise moment the Queen makes such a revelation, the officers of the GDG were in position at both sides of the Marshal and simply placed their hands over his shoulders. Markum whom was stopped even before being able to think on escaping found a small smile to be drawn on the Premier's face. The Premier, from his place forced himself to an impassive face, only waiting for both imperial delegations to reveal their findings. "it's all coming to an end, finally" he though beginning to feel how tired he really was from the hidden battles of the past months. "this is the final round..." he smiled with this though as Emperor Julii begun to speak. |

The Emperor nodded to the Queen and stood up. "I would very much like to, thank you. Our combined investigations have lead to evidence linking Lubek with the warlord Admiral Uzun. Using his uncanny resembelance to the Premier, he impersonated Gustav Kendar to recruit the warlord. He then used the special operations unit Phantom that was under his direct command to capture the international arms dealer Kenneth Baker. Using Uzun he weakened Veomo's and our Imperial military forces in the Black Sea. Using Baker he acquired the services of one Dolf Gruber, a man described as a mercenary, an assassin and a terrorist rolled into one, to assassinate the Grand Duke at St. John. Marshal Lubek then acquired Stinger missiles though Baker to shoot down the Grand Duchess's plane. Using the Phantom Unit impersonating an Imperial Army NBC warfare unit, he then stole several barrels of nuclear waste from the Nova Zembla Disposal Facility, with the intent to create a dirty bomb. Marshal Markum Lubek, based on the evidence presented, the nations of the Vienna Alliance charge you with the assassination of the Grand Duke, with assassination of the Grand Duchess, with the theft of nuclear materials at the Nova Zembla disposal site..." And the Emperor trailed off for the final surprise, one that he admitted did not expect and was rather short noticed. The doors to the conference hall opened and in walked, to Lubek's shock, was Prince Alexi, flanked by Colonel Kiryu and four Imperial Marines in full combat gear, their insignias identifying them as from the 4th Imperial Fleet. "...and with treason." The Prince said. The Emperor then flashed a smile and a nod, a gesture of respect, towards Gustav Kendar. "Well played Premier Kendar, well played. You had us all going there for awhile." It took awhile to catch on that Kendar and to a lesser extent Prince Alexi were baiting Lubek to get too comfortable and expose himself.
