Examples of computer-based chat would be TeamSpeak, Ventrilo, or Mumble. I am not sure how specifically MLG does chat at their events, but they do not use XBL chat. Pros 1. Can support more than 8 people simultaneously 2. Allows for a wider arrange of control and features such as cross-platform chat 3. Can be used without having to have your console on Cons 1. Requires a computer 2. Requires a PC microphone or PC-compatible microphone. Edited by TrianLynx713, Oct 14 2010, 04:45 PM.

I'm not sure if it would be a con for using the computer to talk but I use a headset the astros a40, so people who have headsets I'm not sure could have the mic in the computer and also have the audio from the xbox. I could be wrong though, I may have a splitter cable that came with my headset. It would seem like unnecessary work to get a computer chat going and then all try to get on xbl. And since xbl is updating the quality of voices this upcoming November all the more reason to use party chat on xbl. But that's just my thoughts on it. |

What specific updates are they doing? What I really wish was that you could chat with XBL users from your computer. It wouldn't be impossible to implement. |

Trian if you can figure out a way to get TS to work with XBL chat, you would become famous like that. |

The issue I see with using skype while gaming is not everyone plays in an area with a computer right next to them. My whole gaming console is integrated with my computer and dual screens but I know not everyone has a setup like that lol |

I heard that people thought that the sound quality of chat sucks now. I don't know if I've heard a difference. |

I have not used party chat yet. I bet some ppl say it sucks b/c now everyone will have a more distinct voice or the background noises are easier heard. Kinda like in skype when you hear ppl typing, gets annoying after awhile. |
