Hello...what's up...nangadef! I'm glad you're here. I'm glad we're all here. We've got a lot to talk about. My name is Greg Gross. IBIT is short for I'm Black and I Travel, which is both a statement of fact and the name of my travel blog, which will be two years old in June. I'm a former mainstream journalist, having spent 41 years in newspapers and wire services. I started the blog to encourage more of our people to leave their fears behind, get out and see more of this world to which they belong. So far, if Google Analytics is to be believed, I have readers in 138 countries around the world. As for my own travels, I've set foot on every continent except Australia and Antarctica. I recently returned from my first visit to the Gambia in West Africa, where I was formally adopted by a Gambian family and given the family name of Yaya Colley. You can read all about how all that happened on my blog series called West Africa Journal. I also like candlelight dinners and long walks on the beach and...oops, wrong board, never mind! G. Gross/Y. Colley |
