In the world of Bleach: Burning Souls there are four main “factions”. Each is comprised of one of the major races; Shinigami, Hollow, Vizard, and Quincy. Each of these races is unique, and as such they have very unique bonuses and potential for RP purposes.

Shinigami:
Shinigami are the protectors of “Plus”, innocent souls who have yet to make the crossing over into Soul Society. They are also the slayers of Hollows, evil souls who weren’t able to cross over into Soul Society in time and so became evil and twisted. Their major strengths lay not only in their Zanpakutou, swords with spirits of their own, but also in their other major fighting styles – Kidou (Shinigami spells), Hakudo (Hand-to-hand fighting), and Houhou (Their ability to move quickly). Each of these abilities has their own skill set, and a Shinigami can only advance so far in each level of skill.

Strengths:
  • Shinigami are in tune with their Zanpakutou, much more so compared to Vizards and Arrancar. Their abilities with their sword can grow exponentially, and most Shinigami are experts with their swords. (Unlike Vizards, Shinigami can attain more than one level of power with their Bankai).
  • Shinigami have a very varied and powerful set of Kidou spells which can be useful even if they are not the primary method of attack for the Shinigami.
  • Shinigami are the only race that can go to Soul Society freely (Hollows and Vizards both have the ability, but are likely to be hunted down without a good RP reason for their visit.)

Weaknesses:
  • Shinigami are limited when traveling to the human world; to prevent major damage being done to humans or the environment, all Shinigami have all stats cut in half when in the real world, unless Soul Society (staff) receives and approves a request for this power limit to be removed. There are rare exceptions; but these will all be during official staff-run RPs or Sagas, and will be clearly stated that the limiter is not in place. (This limit only applies to Shinigami at the Captain or Vice-Captain level)
  • Shinigami have individual levels of power, which means that none of their transformations are permanent or stack like the other races.
  • Shinigami are typically limited as to their freedoms in RP. Though this isn’t a mechanical restriction, Shinigami should not simply RP themselves walking around in the real world for no apparent reason. They are generally restricted to Soul Society unless they are on a mission.

Vizards:
The forgotten ones; Vizards have been growing in numbers for some time, though their true extent is unknown by outsiders. Dozens of Shinigami thought killed in battle have appeared in the Vizard ranks, having been Hollowfied instead. They are feared by most Shinigami for their Hollow infusion, and hated by most Hollows for their Shinigami nature. In general, neither of these groups had previously openly attacked the Vizards, but with the events unfolding, no one is certain when or how the increasing tensions will resolve themselves…

Strengths:
  • Vizard have the abilities of both a Hollow and a Shinigami. They have the ability to use both Shikai and Bankai like a Soul Reaper, and the ability to don a Hollow Mask unique to them to enhance these abilities greatly.
  • Vizards can obtain two levels of Hollowfication, both of which must be earned in character, as with other transformations.
  • Vizards start off being able to use Shikai because of the strength required to be able to survive Hollowfication with no complications.
  • Vizards are the only race that can use non-permanent transformations that stack. This means that their transformations are the most powerful (with the exception of the Quincy Final Form) when they are combined, however their stamina drain while fighting in these forms together is massive.

Weaknesses:
  • Vizards have steeper requirements for obtaining their transformations, since the Hollow transformations can be stacked on top of the Shinigami Zanpakutou releases.
  • Vizards lose some of the major abilities of both races in exchange for their happy medium; they cannot use Kidou, only have a single level of Bankai, and can only use weaker Hollow abilities.
  • Vizards using their released Zanpakutou and a Hollow transformation simultaneously will tire much faster than a normal fighter in a similar transformed state, because of the added strain.
  • If a Vizard uses their Hollowfied forms for too long shortly after acquiring them, they may lose control of their Inner Hollow and have to regain control. Until they recover they are uncontrollable and must be RPed as attacking anything that comes near it. (If this is declared, staff will check to make sure there is no “convenient” attacking of only enemies.)

Hollow:
Hollows are corrupted souls who were unable to pass into Soul Society before their Chain of Fate disintegrated. Overwhelmed by their hunger for souls, and by their hatred for the living, these forgotten souls became Hollows. Feeding on other Hollows and souls alike, Hollows seek only to become stronger and eventually achieve the levels of Menos Grande or even Arrancar.

Strengths:
  • Arrancar have a permanent transformation as their first transformation. This means that they drain no stamina while in this form and can stack their Ressureccion forms onto the Arrancar transformation.
  • Hollows are the only race that can freely travel between Earth, Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo; although they will likely be hunted if they travel to Soul Society. Shinigami are limited to Soul Society and Earth, Vizards are limited to Earth unless they have a good reason for going to Soul Society, Quincies are limited to Earth.
  • Hollows have a unique set of skills that are useable only by Hollows and high-level Vizards.

Weaknesses:
  • The Arrancar transformation is weaker than similar transformations for the other races, because this transformation is permanent and take no energy.
  • Hollows are naturally evil and hunt humans for food; they cannot be good without good reasons and extensive in-character development.
  • Hollow abilities are not as varied as Shinigami Kidou, but many are similar.
  • While in Ressureccion form, most Hollows rely on their bare hands or natural weapons rather than swords because their Zanpakutou fuse with them. This usually gives them a significant disadvantage, although some techniques and Ressureccion forms can bridge this gap.

Quincy:
Quincies are a race that were thought extinct due to excessive hunting of them by Shinigami. These are humans with exceptional spiritual powers passed down generation to generation, specifically the ability to manipulate spirit particles. They form weapons using the particles around them and can use several items developed specifically for combating Shinigami and Hollows with superior spiritual powers.

Strengths:
  • Quincies have several items that they can acquire through RPing, which are essentially their way of using advanced techniques.
  • Quincies possess the most powerful transformation in the game, with certain restrictions.
  • Since they use spiritual particles from the environment, Quincies tend to be more powerful than other races in drawn out battles because they use very little of their own energy. This means that Quincies drain less energy while fighting in their base form.
  • Quincies have more strength in ranged combat than most of the other races, since their major offensive ability lies in the bow and arrow.

Weaknesses:
  • Quincies only possess three transformations, one of which can only be used twice.
  • The Quincy Final Form can only be used twice, but is the most powerful transformation in the game. The first time the character uses this ability, they must do a session (minimum 8,000 words) to regain the use of Seele Schneider or their Quincy bow – and hence, any abilities which require either of these. They can still use their other items. The second time the character uses this form, their abilities are gone permanently. The character becomes a normal human.
  • The Quincy items do NOT have an infinite amount. If you use too many of these items in a battle or saga, you will be called out on it. Higher level Quincy usually have access to more, but they still cannot repeatedly use techniques requiring items like Ginto.

Human
Humans are the race that inhabit Earth. They are the most common race in all the worlds, but their power is by far the weakest. A select few actually develops a high amount of Reiryoku and as such they are known as "High-Spec" Humans. These Humans are able to see and interact with Souls, Shinigami and Hollow.

Strengths:
  • All transformations are permanent and are the easiest to attain.
  • Transformations unlock the most diverse and unique abilities among the other races.

Weaknesses:
  • Overall the weakest race.
  • Restricted to Human World only, and can only travel to other worlds through certain means.

NOTE: Keep in mind that even though the transformations are described as being generally stronger than other races, this does not mean that once both characters transform the one who has the stronger transformation is free to god-mod. This simply means that if a Shinigami using Shikai goes up against a Vizard using their first level of Hollowfication, and they were both even before the transformations, the Vizard has the advantage. If the Shinigami had been double the stats of the Vizard, the Vizard would still lose. [/list]
