Description
Physical Description: Meredyth is a simple woman. She can't afford riches and wouldn't want them even if she could afford them. She's a Hearth Witch... what could she do her job properly with trinkets and baubles bedecking her? Standing at a statuesque... 5'3... Meredyth has the golden, gilded eyes and skin of her race with black as midnight hair that, while long, is usually kept in either a severe knot at the nape of her neck, or a tight braid that travels down the middle of her back. She prefers skirts, as it is her opinion that even though she cooks and cleans for a living she can at least look like a lady doing it, and blouses, and low-heeled shoes. She doesn't own a single piece of jewelry, other than her birthright and descent setting, and doesn't really care. They're just expensive little pieces of twisted metal and glass that would suck her wallet dry.

Personality: How to describe Meredyth. If she were a baking recipe it'd go something like this: 1 delectable woman, a pinch of stubbornness, a teaspoon of arrogance, two cups of fear, and a dash of common sense. Meredyth was never given a formal education, so while she has the ability to become a very intelligent woman, at this point she really isn't. Also, the day Mother Night set down to bake her some Meredyth Ilari, she must've been out of confidence and self-esteem... so she substituted those for pride and intuition. Taking all that into consideration, essentially, Meredyth is a shade of her potential. She really is a very loving, kind individual, but because of her past doesn't feel like she can trust anyone enough to offer them that side of her. She has a bad habit of lying, always out of survival, and tends to rely too heavily on lying her way out of things rather than tell someone the truth, again because of her past. All in all, she's very introverted, lives on her own, by herself, and she likes it that way.

Likes: Cooking, Gardening, Sewing, Music, Dancing, Children, Chocolate, Coffee
Dislikes: Polishing, Sweeping, Mopping, Pants, Nosy People, Animals, Laziness, ignorance.

History
Seventeen-hundred years ago a yellow jeweled babe was brought into a cold world of pain and servitude. Shalinda and Zachia, proud parents of what would surely be the pinnacle of all their dreams and hopes, embraced their offspring at first with love, devotion and the weight of great expectations. After her birthright ceremony… everything changed. Returning with the yellow jewel sparked frustration in the two sires. There was no affection in their embrace now, no love or tenderness in the words they spoke to Meredyth, even as a young child. She was a disappointment; how an opal jeweled healer and a green jeweled prince had spawned such a weakling they couldn’t understand. Still, at first they gave their daughter what any guardian would: hot meals, clothing, a bed... As a young Hayllian, she received an informal education from her mother, learning basic reading and math and only enough of the healing craft to create simple, moontime tonics. It didn’t take long for Meredyth to turn to other outlets to hide: cleaning, for example, to escape her parent’s disapproval; gardening for solace and her own form of emotional healing. Children’s games were forgotten, and what friends she had made, in turn, forgot her.

When it came time, when Meredyth’s parents claimed it time, her virgin night was conveniently taken care of; there was no brew, no aphrodisiac – nothing to make it easier. Luckily Kaelphin, a friend of Zachia’s, was acquainted with that kind of request and she made it through the night with her chalice intact and only her pride shattered. Alas, her descent brought only more heartache. Returning with the tiger’s eye jewel felt wonderful to her... but her parents didn’t respond with the same excitement. A summersky jewel had been preferred – even a rose jewel would have been tolerated… but a tiger’s eye? “What’s wrong with you? How can you do this to us?” They raged. All of their plans for Meredyth, their plans for themselves through Meredyth, evaporated like mist at noon and was replaced with hatred and icy dismissal.

Her education ceased, and her belongings were removed from the family’s quarters, only to be haphazardly tossed into a small room besides the cook’s. Her role as a capable hearth witch became the only link between her sires and herself… they taunted her for her mediocre power, insulted her work when she finished a task quicker or with cleaner results than they expected. She relied not on her jewels – but balanced her work between craft and muscle, fearing that her father’s threats would become her reality: the day that she emptied her pitiful reservoir of power, the day she had no defenses left, would no doubt be the day she entered the twisted kingdom, broken and useless.

Meredyth still remembered the first time her father struck her… first a kick against her side when she was cleaning the hearth of soot. It started out as a nudge, a reminder of her position by the dominant male. When she remained silent, when she continued her craft-enhanced scrubbing, was when he became enraged. His fists came raining down, plowing into bone, muscle… tender flesh. He would’ve ripped her apart – a lesson in respect for the jewels he wore – if her mother hadn’t felt the waves of his anger. It was her fault of course, but Shalinda knew that more blood would be spilled if Meredyth remained in the home. Still… merely throwing the whelp out wouldn’t benefit them anymore than having her dead would.

A fortnight later she was offered to another family – sold to the highest bidder while her pay was forwarded to her father for ‘safe keeping’. Everyone in the Hayllian household wore darker jewels and though it was shaming to know that they had essentially enslaved her – she recovered from the blow; recovered but never healed. Gone was the sunny, spirited child of her youth; vanished were the hopes of love and affection. Who she was had been stripped away and in its shell was left a frigid, cynical woman.

Meredyth escaped from the family easily – after a few years of service her parents stopped checking in on their daughter, making it easy to flee from the trustworthy group under her care. She flitted from village to village, finding work in homes and inns; her name was always different, her age always an exaggerated variation from the last. By her sixteen-hundredth birthday she stopped glancing over her shoulder; by her seventeenth she had earned enough money to pay a priestess for passage into the shadow realm… had witnessed enough bloodshed to become competent enough to satisfy her fears for survival.

So now, with the rest of Hayll behind her the Hayllian hearth witch stood and faced the priestess, her hands full of gold and silver slips. “Please help me pass…” And whether or not the priestess should have, the fear in Meredyth’s eyes rivaled that of a caged beast’s. “I will put as much distance between the Ilari household and myself as possible, even if that means…” She never had the chance to finish her thoughts as the priestess took everything that Meredyth could offer. As stone melded into gray mist one fearful thought gripped her throat, choking her: would she face trials as damaging and threatening as the ones she left behind?

Family: Meredyth is not in contact with any of her family members and hasn't been for years.

Lovely girl. Just make sure she has 200 words in her appearance and personality please.

For future reference, you don't always need to do the Plot Goals. Only if your birthright is a green or darker. Now if you want to keep doing it, go for it. I just don't want you to have to do more work then you want to.
