After falling asleep on the couch Aden had taken Alessandra to their bed and gotten himself ready. She must have been tired because he was and she was sick so she had to be more tired than he was. Aden nuzzled into bed and dozed off. The next morning he woke up to Alessandra's quite snoring and the funny little noises that she made. He rolled out of bed so that he would not wake her up and went to make some coffee and breakfast. He knew by now what kind of food she liked even if they had only spent a small amount of time together. He looked at the letter that Gaven had gotten the day before and wondered when their host would be back so Aden could talk to him about the little matter of Alessandra's training. He had agreed with he last night and he almost love that he did with how happy he had made her but he could not shake the feeling that he was going to kill her by doing this but he washed that thought away by telling himself that he would protect her as long as he was alive and when he did die he would have taught her the skills that she needed to survive. This was why he was up this early in the morning. He needed to prepare for the first part of their training. It was their training because he had to kill his own instincts that would be telling him to hold back he could he had to give it his all so that she would be able to learn everything he knew and more. He looked out at the snow covered landscape and thought of his sister. Aden had almost killed a friend when they where younger because of the training Alessandra and he was about to do. He had to hold himself so that he didn't do anything rash he had to control himself. This was why he left his home in the first place. Aden was almost finished with the food when he started to hear noises in their room. When Alessandra had finally emerged she looked like she had had a good night sleep but she still looked a little sick. Aden started to reconsider the training then he changed his mind he would not let his protective nature control him. Aden said, “Hey there how do you feel this morning. I made coffee and breakfast do you want a plate?" After eating and having a short conversation. Aden said, “Ok today is the day that we will start the basics of you training. Your body needs to be in peck condition to do this. So we will start with the Dea al Monian exercises all of the children are learnt at a young age when you get to where I believe you would be i will show you the next step to you training." Aden got up washed the dishes and gave Alessandra time to think about what he had said and then he said, "Get you warm cloths ok and make sure what you have on is easy to move in and if need be easy to take off. If it comes down to it I will make a shield with a warming spell in it around the training area but your body needs to be able to adapt so you need to get use to these kinds of things. You will be traveling all over the realms so when you are read come back and let me know. I will be waiting" Aden said all of this in the most even tone he could muster because with each word he said he hated himself even more. Edited by Aden Cloven, Feb 2 2011, 01:05 PM.

Alessandra dressed with care, sensing something was not right. Aden seemed normal enough but there was still a sense of tension in the air, as if he was unconsciously shielding his true thoughts and feelings. She guessed it was to be expected, he probably was still dealing with his dislike for the idea of training her, and yet he had agreed to do it anyway. Hopefully he'd grow to truly accept the idea. In the end the sweater she wore was one of his, it was the most comfortable and warm and she loved it. And then she slipped on her boots and warmest pants. It was hardly a flattering vision she presented she thought with a huff at her reflection in the mirror. When she arrived at the training area she could see how stiff and tense Aden looked and she faltered. This was tearing him apart and she hated herself for it. Stepping forward she stopped just in front of him. “If this too hard I'll wait and ask Gaven to train me,” she offered not wanting to have him hate himself for doing this. She wanted to be as strong as him, as capable and she honestly couldn't see any other profession in her future that made sense to her. It wasn't about logic, it was just the way she felt. Aden shook his head and to show how much his courage meant to her she leaned forward and kissed him. She hoped he knew how much she loved him, and would always love him. “Just be gentle with me, I'm a spoilt little ex-thief. I'm probably woefully nowhere near peak physical condition,” she joked hoping to lighten the mood. He smiled a small smile and she knew that he had to love her to be doing this. Then he became business like and by the end of the day she would refer to this side of him as “trainer mode.” He was very professional and she put all her attention into learning what he was teaching her. She did admirably well she figured but a few times he had had to correct her stance and motions. One time she flubbed up and fell on her backside. He had laughed for real for the first time since she had made her request and she cherished the sound even as she grumbled at him for not helping her up. Her fake sulking couldn't stand up in the face of his merriment and she wound up laughing with him. Then she asked him to run the move by her again so she could avoid making the same mistake twice. He tried to contain his smile as he did such but she saw the little twinkle in his eyes as she waited to see if she would wind up on her ass again. She nearly did but at the last moment managed to correct her form and pull the move off. Aless stuck her tongue out at him and shrugged. The good-natured teasing helped dispel even more of the tension between them and by time it was time for lunch Alessandra was in good spirits. She hustled into the cabin to felt some quick and easy items for her and Aden to eat before they continued. They shared their meal in serene silence and Alessandra wondered if Aden was ever going to tell her how he had become a mercenary. She wanted to ask but couldn't bear to break the fragile peace between them at the moment. They cleaned up their cutlery and dishes and headed back out to training area. By dinner Alessandra was starting to feel the burn of a good workout in her muscles and she knew she was going to be sore in the morning. Aden on the other hand didn't seem to have even broken a sweat. The wind had picked up again by then and Aden called it quits for the day. He made a thick rich stew for supper and Alessandra ate nearly twice what she usually did, she was famished. They put the leftovers away and cleaned up again. After dinner they discussed vague plans for the future, not really deciding anything just talking about possibilities. The rolling cadence of Aden's voice lulled her off to sleep, although her exhaustion from a day of training made her more susceptible to the soothing effects of her lover's voice. |

The future that was all that mattered right now to Aden if there was a way for him to live on as a demon dead he would do it so that he would not have to leave Alessandra till her death and then he would let himself fade into the darkness but Darkness be damed things never turn out the way that you hoped they would so all they could do was work at what she needed after he was gone. Aden had started to build a cabin near the area while they could still stay at Gaven’s house. He hadn’t come back from his mission with the queen yet but Aden knew that these things took time so he did what he could and when he was not caring for the properties he was teaching Alessandra. The had a couple weeks ago when she had started her training decided what was going to happen in a specific time order and now as she was getting better and stronger it was time to test her skills. Aden that morning had woken up and gotten ready. Alessandra had gotten some really strong senses in the time since she started her training but she still had a long way to go. Soon after Aden had woken up Alessandra was right behind him doing her morning routine. He was proud that she was taking everything so seriously she really wanted to do this and Aden thought she was strong enough now to do it. After breakfast that morning Aden had said, “It’s time to put what you have learned so far to the test. It is one thing to be able to fight but if you are in a situation where you cannot use your jewels and you cannot get to a safe place you have to survive. We are going to go out into the wilderness today. You will hunt you will kill you will make your own shelter so you can survive. As far as you know I will be there but I am going to put a sight shield around me and walk on air so that you can do the stuff as if I was not there. I will be there if you need help though. The problem is and I know that you will not like this but I am going to have to hold your jewels for you. If you have your jewel power this will be an easy task the point of the exercise is to learn it without your jewels. Pack your things and meet me outside I will be waiting so that I can take you the area where you will work at. I have scooped out the area ahead of time so I know what is where in case you need to be taught something. Ok?” |

Alessandra was proud of herself, despite how hard she found it was to memorize and complete her routines properly she was doing well. Aden was a great teacher and she felt closer to him than ever before as they worked side by side on her training. Her appreciation of his skills and the incredible amount of work he had to of done to hone then so sharply deepened, her respect for him soared. The first week had been the hardest, her muscles hadn't been used to the amount of work Aden put them through during training. Aden had been kind and massaged the worst of the knots out of her sore body before she collapsed exhausted in bed each night. But now she only had a bit of soreness when she woke up and after a few stretches she was ready to go. When he first told her that he was going to be testing her knowledge and new skills she'd been excited. Until he told her she had to give up her Jewels to him. Most people were never parted from their Jewels even for a short time. The idea of not having their familiar presence with her scared the hell out of her but Aden had promised to be close by and to protect her. Taking a deep breath she nodded weakly agreeing with him in her mind, she didn't like it. Her steps seemed heavy as she trudged up to their room and began packing her things. Even though she was packing more than normal she found herself packing slower than usual, delaying the moment when she'd have to give up the Jewels she'd carried on her person for hundreds of years. Aden was waiting for her like he said he would be and she didn't try to hide the fact she was kind of sulking about his decree about handing over her Jewels. His look was a cross between amusement at her pouting and chastisement for being childish. She stuck her tongue out at him and buried her face in his chest. Perhaps if she asked very sweetly and promised not to use her Jewels he wouldn't make her hand them over. He let her suck up to him for a moment but then levelled her with a stern look. She made one last ditch effort smiling up to him cutely and stretching up to kiss him lightly. He was a man, perhaps she could distract him the old fashioned way. His eyes widened for a moment and then he chuckled lowly. “Hand them over Alessandra,” he told her in a tone that brooked no argument. With a sigh of defeat she did as he asked, trying to keep her hands from trembling as she handed them over. “You are incorruptible,” she growled at him instantly feeling naked and unhappy without her Jewels. He gave her a light push in the direction he wanted her to go letting her know he had marked the trail she was supposed to take. Once she reached the next rise she was supposedly “on her own” until dinner time the next day. Giving him a frown to show how much she still wasn't pleased she headed off down the trail. She turned around to ask Aden a question but he had already shielded. Even though she was sure he could hear her she couldn't help grumbling about bossy males and their stupid tests. When they got back she was going to ask him to cough up his Jewels for a day and see how he felt about that, she swore silently. The pace she set for herself was a hard one fuelled by her fuming and she reached the next rise in no time at all. With a sigh she looked around for a point she could travel to that would be a good place to set up camp for the night. She wanted to quickly set up her camp and then go about hunting up something to eat since it might take her a while to find game in this cold. After an couple of hours she had a sturdy little lean-to built that was tucked in against an outcrop that blocked the wind on three sides. It wasn't a warm cabin but it would protect her from most of the elements and allow her to keep her fire going all night. Despite the cold winds and snow that started mid-day she managed to complete a simple snare and bag a couple of arctic hares for her supper and she roasted them over her little fire idly wondering what Aden was eating for his supper. The night brought a cold that made the earlier chill seem almost tropical. Her little fire struggled in the cold and Alessandra banked it up the way Aden had taught her, or at least she thought she did. She was so used of using witch fire that the fickle non-magical flame seemed near impossible to keep built up at a decent level. At last she huddled down in her sleeping bag and went to sleep. Sharp burning pain in her right hand woke her and she gasped in surprise. Her fire was out and her right forearm was stretched out of the sleeping bag and resting on the snow. During the night she must have flung her arm out of her sleeping bag. In her head she remembered Aden's warnings about always keeping her gloves and boots and such on in case she was surprised and had to abandon her pack to escape trouble. He had warned her that blankets and such were great but they should never be the only thing between her skin and the elements. She understood now why he had impressed that but last night removing her gloves inside her sleeping bag when she went to bed had seemed so harmless. Her hands had been getting sweaty so she'd pulled them off and just left them in the bag with her. Alessandra had to bite back tears as she gingerly sat up and cradled her arm to her body. The slightest touch sent stabbing pains down her arm to from her mid-forearm to her fingertips. Fingertips that were a sickly looking bloodless colour. It wasn't even sunrise yet and Alessandra figured Aden had probably bedded down somewhere close and having seen her bed down. If he had been awake he would have noticed her naked hand in the snow and woken her up. Without her Jewels she couldn't even probe the damaged tissue to see how had she'd frostbitten her hand. Carefully she tried to flex her fingers and the pain that lanced through her hand was so bad she choked on a small scream. If Aden was close she was sure he would have heard the sound and would be at her side in a flash. She forced herself not to cry as she tucked her arm into her sleeping bag hopeful that the warmth would help. This test was clearly over she thought miserably as she started to shout for Aden's help. |

((OOC: Sorry it took so long to get back. Been really busy on this end. The post may be a little choppy sorry. If you want to we can start another thread after your next post so that Alessandra and Aden can get to meet the rest of the court.)) What in the Darkness name happened? Aden had watched her all day and she was doing great even when the fire started to get small she knew what to do. Alessandra should have been fine but he was woken up by that dam sound. Why? She was hurt. He could tell by how she sounded. He had gotten use to that sound in her training. When she would fall on her butt or be sore. She would make the same yelping sound that she just did. He jumped up out of his sleeping bag and dropped his shield. He then ran to her. She was sitting there cradling her hand and arm. What had happened?! Why was she in so much pain? What had happened? That was all that kept going through Aden’s mind. Aden went to her and almost fell down on his knees beside her. Her hand was a bad color for her skin tone. He did a brief scan of her hand and arm and saw that there was some tissue damage. He had dealt with this before, frost bite was not bad as long as you caught it soon enough. Hopefully they had caught it soon enough. Aden said, “Now listen, I am going to take and put a light warming spell on your arm it is going to hurt like hell but if we start to slowly warm it up when we get to a Healer she will have less damage to repair. You can’t warm it up all of a sudden it will kill more of the tissue.” Aden felt like shit if he had let her keep her jewels she would be fine. He looked at her. She was in so much pain. Aden said, “I’m sorry if I had let you keep you jewels this wouldn’t have happened.” He jumped to the winds with her in his arms. He wouldn’t let her get hurt again. He wrapped a warming spell around her whole body. He put a shield around her and moved to the Green wind. The faster he got there the less damage but where was a healer. He had to find a healer. Gaven may know or better yet the court would almost certainly have a healer. Aden was not familiar with the area but he did know where Lady Scarta’s castle was. Aden jumped from thread to thread of the winds taking the fastest route that he could. He dropped from the wind and ran to the gate. He searched for Gaven’s mind but he was not sure where he was. So, when he saw the butler Aden told him what had happened to Alessandra and that he needed a healer. He also told him that he was Gaven’s second in command so that they would know who he was. He was still in a kind of panicked state but he was calmer now then he had been. Aden had no idea what would happen now but him and Alessandra was almost certain to meet some of the court now and this made him nervous |

Alessandra grit her teeth trying not to whimper as Aden wrapped the warming spell around her arm. He was right, it hurt like hell but she tried to put on a brave face. Clearly he was upset about her being in pain and she didn't want him to blame himself. If she'd followed his instructions this wouldn't have happened. Curling against his chest she let him pick her up and make the jump to the winds. She felt him wrap a warming spell around her whole body but she found the warmth coming from him far more comforting. The pain in her arm was terrible and she prayed that the frostbite hadn't done any permanent damage to her fingers. When they dropped from the winds she found that he had brought her to a huge mansion. Alessandra just buried her face in Aden's chest as he explained that he was Gaven's second in command and that she needed to see a healer. Alessandra felt like a fool, imagine a full-grown member of the Blood getting frostbitten like a child before they learned basic craft. And they were at the Territory Queen's no less, she didn't think she could get anymore embarrassed. She'd slept outside in functional outfit that was far from fashionable, worked hard physically the day before and hadn't even brushed her hair. She felt like a ragamuffin. Hopefully the Queen wasn't in or couldn't be bothered with the pair seeking a healer at her doorstep. The butler replied something to Aden that she missed and he motioned for them to wait while he moved down the hall. Aden was clearly tense but he seemed to have calmed down since they arrived. She squirmed hoping Aden would get the hint and put her down but he simply tightened his grip. Again she squirmed and again he tightened his grip, this time casting her a warning glare. “Aden, there is nothing wrong with my legs,” she whined pushing at him, trying to dislodge herself. “We may need to be shown to another room or even another building,” he returned refusing to budge. She hissed at him and one more time tried to wiggle free. Her efforts caused a spasm to shoot down her arm to her fingertips and she let out a little cry. Sweet Darkness, it hurt. Aden sat down on a chair by the door and delicately probed her arm. With a sigh he reached into his jacket and pulled out a small cloth pouch. Alessandra knew what it was before he even told her. She forced herself not to reach out and tried to take them back, instead she waited for him to give them back to her. He slipped her necklace over her head and the familiar weight of the antique chain and her Opal released a tightness in her chest she'd been dealing with since she handed over her Jewels. Her Birthright Summer-Sky was set in a ring she usually wore on her right hand but she knew there was no way she was going to be able to wear it right away. Thankfully Aden had threaded the chain of her necklace through the ring so it hung next to her Descent Jewel. He apologized again and she shook her head. “It's my fault. I didn't listen. I took my gloves off and while I was sleeping I threw my arm out of the sleeping bag.” There was no way she was ever going to make that mistake again. And she had a new appreciation for how much she took her jewels for granted, that too was a mistake she never intended to make again. As for parting with them again, it would be a while before she'd even consider it. Not because she didn't trust Aden to protect her or them, it was that she clearly wasn't ready to take care of herself without them. She'd taken for granted how much she counted on her jewels and not given Aden's warnings the respect they deserved. If she'd thought he'd objected to training her before this episode surely wasn't going to going to help convince him that he'd made the right decision. She hoped he hadn't changed his mind about training her. All she could to was wait and see what the Healer had to say. If there was any permanent damage she was pretty sure Aden would put his foot down about her plans on becoming a mercenary. Hopefully the damage could be repaired and she'd be right as rain soon enough, hopefully. Dejected she hunched down and sulked about her failing the first damn test put before her. This day couldn't get any damn worse, could it? ((ooc: continued on in the next thread)) Edited by Alessandra Veuriel, Feb 23 2011, 12:49 AM.
