Better team won on the day. Ref lost control of the game and resorted to cards.
Some very doggy offsides gave them a least two goals.

This seasons over anyway due to poor form early on.
An excellent time to continue the rebuilding for an assult next season.

Thought it was a commendable effort from the team today against very strong opposition.
Impressed with the two lads up front who both found the net on their home debuts.

Rammy are a good side and to take the lead twice shows we were up for it. It was a good local derby with blood and thunder challenges and both sides going for it. The best team won and we were outclassed at times in the second half but I'm a happy blues fan. Unlike the Ossett game the lads stuck to it gave it their all and came up just short. The pleasing thing for me was that even though the pitch was heavy and cut up we still tried to play good football when we had the ball.

I didn't get the best view of the game as I was baby sitting a mini bus full of Bury fans (you couldn't make it up) who had been heading for Stanley but were seduced by the bright lights of Shawbridge when the game was called off. I liked the fight that the lads showed and the performance of the front two echoed my view from last week. Wins will come from this side and next week at Wakefield would be a good place to start. I've a few beers with my name on them so the match report will follow tomorrow.

Seems the Shawbridge slope is our best money spinner! I was stood next to four accy fans and two southport fans... That's more money in the coffers when other higher tier teams can't get a game on

Bumper crowd - good
Effort and work rate - good
Rammy will be there or there abouts and the difference showed at times. Still question marks over the quality of signings, but better!

I honestly can't believe we ship four goals and people are actually praising the team I can't be the only one that thinks this is going nowhere fast

The Padiham and Ossett games were appalling so compared the them yesterdays performance was a step in the right direction. Oh and Peter, the reason our season is over is our results in the last 11 games. I'm afraid 5 points from a possible 33 is relegation form.

Bearing in mind that Rammy had scored 20 in their previous four games and we're currently having to rebuild virtually from scratch in mid-season, I don't think keeping them to 4 was too bad, it's certainly better than some have managed recently. Probably have a better idea of just where we stand after next weekend's game.

I don't think its a case of people being over praising but being realistic. The reality is that after the Ossett game the team was devoid of passion and ideas, and to rebuild a team mid season is impossible as players who 'are at this level' are already settled and playing elsewhere. We tried fringe players from NPL prem teams and frankly they were dreadful so cast offs aren't always an option. So given all of that, then the step up in performance level from the last home game was pleasing and should be applauded. It's not the end of the journey by any means just a positive step on the road to next season when we can take the best of this season and add in some quality signings. For me it's next season the management team has to be judged on, once they have a chance to build the side they want.

Spot on. This season is all about rebuilding, not only for next season, but for the future. Setting up a plan that will keep us competitive for years to come. Trafford as an example did just that. Ok in the early days they took some pastings but look where they are now.

It is over 7 years now since I had any serious involvement with the club and when it gets to this time of the year all we seem to read is that the club is building for the following season. It appears that for once the management team is looking further ahead by trying younger local players that hopefully in the near future will be able to mount a challenge. The only way to blood these younger players is by having a reserve team. I know it has been said a thousand times and we get the negative response that the club cannot afford to run one but I and many others know that this would not be the case. Until the club takes steps to at least give it a go then they will continue to be there just to make the numbers up, and I feel the supporters who turn up week in week out deserve better than that.

After Paul Moore guided us to a respectable league position of 8th last season we were all disappointed with the start we made this time around. After 12 games in charge we had achieved a poor points return of only 12 points and he was duly sacked. Compare this with our last 12 games under Garner and we have only collected 8 points. I said at the time it was a massive gamble appointing a rookie manager and backroom staff and unfortunately its now looking like it was a bad choice. If Simon wants to turn things around I suggest he starts managing from the touchline, the pressure of playing and managing clearly effected his performance on the pitch yesterday.

Bob I totally agree with you on the reserve side. As you say, every time the subject is brought up it's dismissed based on cost, but for me this is based on the short term. Having a reserve side where we could introduce good young local players and bring them on ready for the first team would surely mean we wouldn't have to pay the higher expenses we have to pay to attract players from further afield.

Think its a bit harsh to suggest its a failed gamble just yet. The difference for me is Paul had a chance to sign the players he wanted over the summer and Simon hasn't had that luxury just yet so until he has then Ill reserve judgment. That being said I do have to agree not having a reserve side to blood youngsters is a hindrance but until someone puts their hand up to run it then it'll stay what it is. Having been involved in grassroots sport for nearly 15 years I know money is hard to come by so it's not as easy as wishing and it happening, it needs people with time and commitment and that is a scarce resource. However maybe having a bigger squad and playing friendlies may be a happy compromise

My first game i've been able to get up and see this season with working down south. One key point is how lightweight we look, especially after Ross went off. Cant knock the lads on such a hard pitch to play on but we were sliding into tackle we had no chance of winning nor looked like we were going into them whole hearted. sorry i dont know the lads by name this year. We are dying out for a leader on the pitch and a pacey striker who can get behind the CB. Was brilliant to see a good crowd on with both Accy & Bury being off, Also seeing a few similar faces from last year. Had a quick chat with Lee Pugh who was at the game, who said he's having a hernia op in a few weeks & looking to get fit & play locally for the last few months of the season what a masterstroke bringing him back would be! Would give the whole place the lift it needs also saw that Si Nangle is at colne! Obiously his move to Northwich dindn't work out, a goalscoring midfielder is maybe just what we need??
