Great news, but still think we should be looking at having a reserve side as well This would see players progress from Youth to Reservers and hopefully to the first team football. Youth football to Evostik is far too big a jump. Is the Lancashire Sunday league U18's or U21's?

Agree with you on this one petem. The youth team is a step forward and I certainly wish Tom all the best in his appointment and don't doubt he will give it his best shot. The problem is as petem say's is the jump from under 18 level to Evo Stik standard. Obviously there is the odd exception but we are talking a very physical standard and there are a lot of meat heads out there who don't give you the time on the ball that they get at pro level. Many top premiership players would struggle to make as big an impression at this level as they do in the prem. With this in mind I think , as petem say's, they will still need that step from being 18 to 1st team and that means only one thing and that is a reserve team. Good luck to new lads especially Danny Mort who is obviously a bit bigger now than when I last saw him.

I would imagine playing a U18 Youth Team would enable the club to have access to funding/grants.

This is great news and a big step forward for the club. I've seen this model work throughout Europe. As well as the footballing benefits it also brings a number of 'soft' benefits by strengthening links to the community and getting a lot more people associated with, and involved in, the running of the club. It should bring a sense of 'belonging' to a club right through the age groups.

As Pete says it may also open the door to some much needed funding.

This is good news for CFC,i still think they need a reserve team aswell as a under 18 team this will bridge gap between u 18s and first team.I think an under 21s team would of been a better option, but one step at a time lets not rush things.
