Hey everybody, it's been years (obviously) since Lunar Knights, and with Kojima going rogue, we may well soon see something Boktai related in the future.

But in the meanwhile, there is a very fun action/adventure game out now by Heart Machine Games called "Hyper Light Drifter". Game play wise and visually, it's eerily similar to Boktai. So much so, that I'd go as far as to even call it a spiritual successor of sorts. (Mind you, though, that the two series are entirely unrelated.)

Not an easy title, though! Interestingly, the game is entirely devoid of dialogue, with the story and action being conveyed simply by the physical actions of characters or by visual cues and pictures. But yeah...a young kid with a red cape, followed around by a floating guardian/buddy, who fights darkness/undead with a sword, gun, and grenades...sound familiar at all? Hmm.

You can check out the trailer HERE and view the website and screenshots HERE.

You can buy it on Steam HERE! Very much recommended, Boktai fans should love it and feel right at home.

Man I cannot agree with any of the things you have said about how the gameplay is like Boktai. It's nothing like Boktai at all, and neither are the visuals other than the character having a headband thing and a scarf. It's much more derivative of Dark Souls than anything Boktai did.

Also the game just isn't fun. Which is a huge downside.
